LAZIO are set to step up their shock interest in Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove.
The Italian giants are on the lookout for a target man before the transfer window closes in a fortnight and have the 22-year-old on their list of potential signings

Cosgrove’s form in the Europa League qualifiers, where he scored six goals in their first four matches, has cemented their interest.

Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi has ordered his scouting team to find him a physical, six-foot-plus striker to lead the line - so the in-form Englishman’s name has made its way into their plans.

The Italian club’s analysts are now set to further assess him before the end of the month.

Reports in Italy suggest the Serie A side see Cosgrove - under contract until 2022 - as a low-cost purchase to add to their squad, but Aberdeenwon’t be easy to deal with

What was the other one at the weekend, Basel looking at that big lump at hibs Kamberi for £2m? See to be honest, they're both crap and we know they're worth hee haw but this is probably agents applying English transfer fee logic

Most likely nonsense but he is a decent player tbf

On stats alone, if hes the profile of player theyre after the scouts should run the rule over him. And then if theyve any sense run a mile. Mind you Andy Carrol went for £35 million about 8 years ago so anything could happen

Morelos top SPFL scorer linked with Brentford , West Brom.
Big hacking lump from a team humiliated in the Europa League = Lazio
Some great propaganda there

Never say never in football, let’s be honest he’s decent at what he does, he’s not the type of forward I’d like to see at Rangers but some managers do like the battering ram up front.

Think back to when Hateley went to Milan from 2nd division Portsmouth, that would’ve raised a few eyebrows at the time. This is similar although in no way is Cosgrove comparable to even a young Hateley.

Not that this is in any way true but if he did go to Lazio he’d be back up to Immobile.

Which is extremely ironic.

Aberdeen picked him up for £40,000. He's clearly improved over the last few seasons and had hit 10 goals already this season.

You can see why clubs would be interested - maybe not Lazio - but he's got potential to develop further given he is only 22.

I have a Lazio ST and go over regularly, my mates in Italy say it’s pish.

Daily Record: "The big striker has scored nine goals in eight games this season and is also one of the top scorers in the Europa League..........wtaf o_Oo_Oo_O
The former Wigan and Everton youngster finished second top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 17 goals."

could you imagine how many Morelos would have if he was on penalties??

If they said a team like Luton it would be believable.

Might as well be saying Man United are in the wings to swoop.

Whilst the Lazio story sounds a tad contrived and far fetched, some of the nonsense on here in regard to the lads goal scoring feats and general ability are nearly as bonkers as the notion that Lazio are interested.

He is a young striker bought for 40k who scored 17 last season in a poor sheep side and given he can only score against the teams they get drawn against in the EL...He’s done fine there as well.

From what I’ve seen of him he’s a big mobile striker with a decent touch and an eye for goal, good in the air and on the deck...They will sell him for significant profit and we should not be disparaging of his efforts in our league if we expect our players to reach their true value.
