Tactical analysis 2019/20 season

Pretty good summary of what we have all been saying on here....Miss too many chances, alot of our crosses lead to nothing. If we persist with this style of play I.e. getting fb wide and crossing,, we must start playing with a front 2.

Pretty much what many on here pointed out through out the course of the season.

We've got to cut out the pathetic mistakes and errors at the back, we need to be able to mix it up in terms of tactics, set up and style of play. Become less predictable and obsessed with over compacting tactics and systems.

More ruthless and clinical in front of goal. Far too reliant on Alfredo Morelos and our two attacking full backs to deliver. When one or a few of them are out, we continue with the same system and wonder why it fails.

Too slow build up fannying around between defence and (too deep sitting) midfielders.
An over tendency to go wide and hit crosses into an ‘unloaded box’. Quality of delivery variable and our front men ill equipped to take advantage of this form of attack.
A reluctance to drive through the middle and play triangles instead. Also we don’t press centre backs. Yet when we do a high press as a unit, this is when we are most successful -feeding off mistakes. ( we struggle when teams do this to us eg Hearts)
The solution imo? High tempo, high press and only hit hopeful crosses as a last resort.
Jeez feels weird to be talking football again !

After reading that it’s clear what Lyndon dykes mate be able to offer if we play the same style going forward. Surely crosses into the box would suit this guy better than Defoe for example? Unfortunately some people on other threads can’t see the big picture. We need to have other options in some matches.

I do think Dykes could be an effective and interesting no.2 option

Sell Morelos then (who I love btw) and reinvest in 3 or 4 others?

Agree!

For anyone who cant be bothered reading it, summary is:

Tav is never a captain.
Graeme Shinnie is the answer.
We are selling Morelos for 10 million and buying Cosgrove and Ferguson for 15 million.
