Ffs he has only played about 60 mns,in the name of the wee man.I don't think Max Aarons is as much of an upgrade as people think. He will have to compete with Tav, and if Tav is fitter then last season then I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps his place in the team.
I’m sure he does the exact same from right backHe seems to talk a lot when he plays in CH.
The fans that booed at half time didYou can't judge any player on a pre season friendly.

I'd personally add Barron to that list, he does a lot of good off the ball but his positioning is all over the place.I'd disagree. From the bad side it showed that the likes of Propper, Dowell, King and McCausland aren't good enough. From the good side it showed that the likes of Tav, Diomande, Bajrami and some of the youngsters have a lot to contribute.
Every time I’ve seen him play CB he’s always had a good game.
Was brilliant when he came on, huge difference he made.Still the best footballer at the club
Tav took one corner, Fernandez should have scored from it.Totally agree with the OP.
Needs to take a step back from the corners. We had two corners taken by Rice and Curtis(I think), and who was on the end of them with headers but Tav. One of which unluckily hit the side net. Tav took the next corner that came to nothing.
Get in the box Skipper.![]()
What in the name of sweet baby Jane. His first game after a week of intense training FFS, how on earth can you get to this conclusion.I don't think Max Aarons is as much of an upgrade as people think. He will have to compete with Tav, and if Tav is fitter then last season then I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps his place in the team.
I'm not just basing that on today. That would be mental.Ffs he has only played about 60 mns,in the name of the wee man.
Honestly think that's where his best now. Stop rushing forward at neckbreak speed. Stay at the back. Marshall the defence. Then push forward if need be. Know you can score a goal or a hundred. Stay back and help stop losing one. Oh and I still Think he should be Captain. Martin needs a stalwart on his side.He seems to talk a lot when he plays in CH.
We’ll need another 6 signings before Tav isn’t in our best 11.I think the game today showed that Tav will still have a big part to play for us this season and maybe even beyond. When he came on he settled the team down and led by example. He also encouraged and coached the youngsters. Maybe not a first team starter all the time but a very valuable person to have in the squad.
Which was ridiculousThe fans that booed at half time did
Of course he still has a part to play, Tav is a top player.. The last 3-4 managers (post Gerrard) hasn’t been great on the eye style or football, styles that don’t suit Tav - but he’s still performed 80% of the time. I believe in a team playing RMs football brand we will see Tav back to his best .I think the game today showed that Tav will still have a big part to play for us this season and maybe even beyond. When he came on he settled the team down and led by example. He also encouraged and coached the youngsters. Maybe not a first team starter all the time but a very valuable person to have in the squad.
He is our best player by a country mile and far better than the guy brought in to replace him.Squad player not a starter hopefully but will play a part
As things stand he's our best CB. Far more composed than Souttar and a really goof organiser. He reads the game well also.I think the game today showed that Tav will still have a big part to play for us this season and maybe even beyond. When he came on he settled the team down and led by example. He also encouraged and coached the youngsters. Maybe not a first team starter all the time but a very valuable person to have in the squad.
Based on today I'd have to agree. Aaron's did fine but he's noticeably smaller and weaker than Tav. I'm yet to be convinced the only thing he has on Tav is age.He is our best player by a country mile and far better than the guy brought in to replace him.
If you watched that game today and couldn't see a noticeable difference in the back line between the first half and second half then I'm astounded. It was night and day.I don't think the game today showed anything, good or bad. It's a nothing friendly.
Don’t know what their playing careers has to do with it. I stand by my statement.Tell Steven Gerrard, Van Bronkhurst that.
I’ll hazard a guess that they both had slightly better football careers than you.
Its posts like this particularly the bold bit that make me buzz. Still learning new information on the bears despite my Rangers da status!Sandy Jardine spent last few years of his career as an excellent CB (sweeper in my day). Same as Tav, had a reasonable turn of pace but also had the experience to read situations developing. Hope JT can do the same.
No hes not Raskin isBy a country mile
A bit early to judge Aarons I think Tav's days as a RB are over he'll be playing CB from now on imoHe is our best player by a country mile and far better than the guy brought in to replace him.
Of course but it's one game and a nothing game.If you watched that game today and couldn't see a noticeable difference in the back line between the first half and second half then I'm astounded. It was night and day.
Great point, i would rather listen to Defoe's opinion of Tav than the wet wipes on here's opinion of him.I think the game today showed that Tav will still have a big part to play for us this season and maybe even beyond. When he came on he settled the team down and led by example. He also encouraged and coached the youngsters. Maybe not a first team starter all the time but a very valuable person to have in the squad.
Of course he needs a chance but he will need to improve because based on today he is not an upgrade on Tav.A bit early to judge Aarons I think Tav's days as a RB are over he'll be playing CB from now on imo
Im only ok with this if it's a one of and it's a back 3. We need commanding Centre backs in their natural positionThought he was excellent
No doubt he can play CB alot if we adopt Martin's approach correctly
