That Needed Spark

We need something to kick us into gear and go on a solid run of wins.

I feel this could come in several ways:

1) We need to try and have a settled back 4. Last season was built on this foundation and we need to try and find stability.

2) Now would be the perfect time for the likes of Kamara and Goldson to pen new contracts, galvanise the club and show everyone they are here for the fight.

3) We need players off form to get it going, Tav, Barisic, Kent, Davis to an extent, even guys like Alfie and Aribo who you seen some genius and some shite.

4) The new lads, Sakala, Lundstram and Bacuna need to show what they can add to the first team, not the squad

5) Finally a bit of luck on the injury front would be nice. Getting Kent and Helander back ASAP, but more so Jack who we all know sets standards. A fit Jack if he gave us 15-20 top performances would be a huge bonus and boost.

2 is the easiest option right now and some good news around the club and dressing room might be a place to start.

We created plenty of chances. We have players who seem to completely lack the ability to shoot. If it’s not wildly over the bar or wide, it’s straight into the arms of the goalkeeper at a snails pace.

The second point is rather poignant. This start to the season has been nothing but a barrage of negative press from all angles. That's bound to have an impact on the team, because it's sure having an effect on the fans.

Can't actually remember a single bit of positivity around the club so far this season. It has been negativity across the board, ticket costs, merch costs, our transfer business, contract situations, injuries/covid, press access and racist/sectarian videos. It's all been quite crushingly oppressive, everything is under constant scrutiny. Zero feel good factor atm.

A turning point is coming. I've got faith but it's been thoroughly depressing and events off the pitch have compounded a lot of it.
