The Betfred Scottish League Cup Final

St Johnstone tweeting telling fans not to turn up at the stadium cos no event is happening . Like fans are gonna care they just want to be around fellow fans and will go regardless of what the club day . Imagine rangers tweet the day we win 55 not to attend . No one will listen or care

Just saw that was just the second final in 68 years not to feature 1 of the Big 5. Wow. Don't like St Johnstone because of their mentally challenged links but it would be funny if they could eclipse the 2 other Tayside clubs.

Unfortunately we're gonna get absolutely battered in the media when we confirm 55 and the fans celebrate

Glad St Johnstone won, few guys I work with know the Clark family and say they are absolutely brand, so delighted for them.

Pandemic or not, considering the capacity of Hampden and the two clubs average home gate they should have let fans in today. They could easily have been well spread out.

They absorbed Erin Rovers and so the mentally challengeds started supporting St Johnstone. They have some virtue signalling club mission statement about letting the scum play for them back in the 1800s.

Bit of a tenuous link, thought it was going to be something more recent. Each to their own but I wouldn't be bothered that a club absorbed another local team in the 1800s.

Always interesting to hear a bit more about club's history though.

Will be interesting to see the media reaction of their fans gathering at the stadium with their pyro. Wonder how many arrests?

You're mostly right but twisting the facts. St Johnstone did absorb Erin, which represented a large Irish immigrant community living in the town centre; but the club's next constitution forbid any particular favouritism or bigotry at that point and there has never, ever been any sense of Saints being a pro-Irish club or anything else. Hardly a "mission statement". Our current (and by far, most successful) chairman was a Rangers fan growing up as it happens.

People are making a lot of pictures taken passing Celtic Park today - ignoring the fact that's where the club won its only other trophy. Hardly any kind of special link, nobody really wanted to play there but the Commonwealth Games got in the road.

Same. My eyes were bleeding. How often do the diddy clubs use OF spending power as a reason for not playing good football and hunkering down? What’s the excuse for this abomination? One thing they have to do is encourage football. First steo in that is referees getting rid of the hackers. You’d see silkier football in a Royal Marines v Paratroopers cup match.
I honestly can't remember any slick passing on the deck at all.
If someone was to say to you what's wrong with Scottish football, make them watch that.
