The League of Ireland question .

They went from a Winter league to Summer League to try and improve the game especially when it came to Europe competition

Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland , Faroes, Belarus Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania Moldova, Kazakhstan all play summer league due to the harsh winters

Russia went from summer to winter but have a 3 month break

For a lot of smaller nations it makes sense. Means the league isn’t in competition on a Saturday with the ‘big’ leagues, and with the teams starting Euro completion in late June/early July it should give them more chance of being match fit and winning a few games. There’s been much debate in the Irish League whether to follow suit.

The Irish league should follow suit. Its works well for the League of Ireland as evidenced by Dundalk nearly getting to the CL group stages and having a decent run in the EL for what amounts to a semi pro outfit.

No that it ever would or should happen but if Scotland did it it might actually give the diddy teams a chance at Europa League qualification.

Martin O'Neill got into the groups with Shamrock rovers also.

I’d love if we played during the summer too. Nothing better being at Ibrox in the sun and not being wrapped up like nanook of the north. If it improved the TV money maybe it’s worth looking at as it would give sky decent football year round and would help us in European competition you would imagine
