The Louden: This Weekend

For anyone interested, we will be open at 11 am both days
Sunday, we will showing our game against Heart of Midlothian with a Noon Kick Off
Usual rules apply
This must have been the season from hell for you. Between the Hampden debacle and everything that's gone on since, you must be near your 'worst case scenario' business plan.

Thanks Robert.
Great to see you still flying the flag.
With all the recent gloom, the Louden still shines bright.
I struggle to see why any true Rangers man or woman has a bad word to say about your pub.
Because some people are jealous or don't like Robert.
Bloody hell a few seasons back he was accused of chasing the blue pound.
:mad::mad:
At least like most of us he goes to games and suffers with us and celebrates with us.
Is that OK Robert was that what you wanted me to say??

:)):)):))

Do you think football fans don’t like a drink when their side are losing! Celebrate with a pint and moan like %^*& with a pint

It doesn't matter if it is about seating, the board, the team, supporters buses or pubs, the one thing we are good at is arguing amongst ourselves!

For what is worth, I'm in the Louden maybe a few times a year. It is a brilliantly run pub and a good pint.

You have just described it to a tee, that by the time the season is finished, we will have lost a third of our takings since last year.
It has been challenging.
I dread it to think about what the club has lost.
But our fans have been very supportive.

The cheque is in the post :)

It's not much good to us when we have lost Home friendlies and League and European games to Hampden, and we will never recover.
It is a big hit

I think the accounts will be alarming.

People grossly underestimate the damage financially that the Copland fiasco has had this year.

We will have haemorrhaged cash during that process.

That is scary Robert.

Talking about all the games the pub missed out on at the start of the season, potentially missing out on another Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox, sure it would have been busy for the semi final and final too had we got there, had a few crap late Sunday kick offs and crowds are down. Nothing to do with celebrating or moaning with a pint. I'm talking about fewer games and fewer people attending.

Hopefully the Louden did well, with the last home old firm game being a 3pm kick off for once. But I suppose you have more staff wages, food, drink & security to cover as well in that scenario

I use the Louden before and sometimes after our games at Ibrox. When possible I travel up to watch our away games rather than watch them on TV locally. Only an hour on the train then subway out to the pub.
Would like to see the Q&A nights with former players again.
Had some great nights in the past with the likes of Souness, Greig & Parlane , Albertz& Numan.
Realise players would receive a fee and entry payment would hopefully cover that. Profit from bar takings could give the pub a boost.

Apart from a very few, we have had everyone.

We have mostly the same amount of Staff and Door Stewards at every home game along with the same 1100 /!200 items of food, When it's cold we have 30 Patio Heaters on

Another cracking decision in the long line of decisions by John Bennett and the Parks

I don’t get in much due to my 15 year old with me most games.

Last OF game though place was overcrowded imo, obviously getting as many in as possible to maximise profit and understandable but it wasn’t enjoyable if am honest.

2 patio heaters no working either :p

A wee hint. If you can find old recipe Carling (available in some English areas apparently) that is all Madri is.
Both are 4.6% but the Carling is nearly half the price
Took to homebrewing after the nats last hike in alcohol pricing, mup crap.

Always liked Carling but never new it once went to 4.6. Do you know if there are kits available for this, and where?

Not been in the Louden for a while but can never understand why Robert Marshall is constantly on the receiving end of criticism from some, a proper bluenose laying on a specific matchday experience for a pre/post match swally for fellow bluenoses and going above and beyond dishing out the free food which I believe is not just some kind of gimmick.

He is a businessman of course and has to turn a coin but with his acumen he could probably follow another course and make more money elsewhere.

Great pub, and it would honestly take away a great deal of my match day experience if it wasn’t there. Sometimes I have my grandson and can’t go but as he reminds me “only 7 years to go grandpa” ….can’t wait for that day!

Let them criticise, it makes them feel better about themselves and think it makes them important. They aren't and as long as our customers enjoy The Louden the rest is just noise.
I have had Loudens for thirty-one years and I wouldn't let small-minded jealous people put me off. I doubt there are very few publicans on here who wouldn't love to have our pub
The best job in the world

Not sure if you can get a kit anywhere.Coors is the old Carling recipe with extra hop extract as well by all accounts

Sorry for derailing the thread, but is home brewing easy/worth it?

Sure is. Ditch the complicated hydrometer, stick with the basics and when up and running and a little patience you get over forty half litre bottles of the ale of your choice for about fifteen quid.

Can't afford not to swally at that price.
