We used to get 19k tickets behind the goal and 2 sections on there main stand
We got more tickets at the piggery, all being the goal and part of the main stand. We used to get about 19k in the Jane field street end.
We also used to get part of their jungle until the early 70sI've seen this pop up before.
I'm sure it was something to do with them chasing the title so were given a bigger allocation for this game.
Pretty sure they messed it up and lost out to Dundee utd at the end.
I'm sure someone with more Google skills than me will look it up.
For the record, we used to get part of their main stand regularly.
Correct Mark. Remember as a wee bear cub going into our ticket office with my old man (sold out) only to drive to the scumhut and get tickets for the Rangers end there. We also used to get half the Jungle - last game we had a section in there about 79/80?
Also worth reminding people - you could go into the Celtic Pools office in the city centre and buy tickets for any area of the ground including the Rangers areas.
In the London Rd section that day.The Flag Day March 93 was magnificent, an incredible sight.
We got 24,000 when we sold initial amount of 21,000 I think and they opened the segregated area of the Rangers end next to the jungle.I remember one game against them I was in the Main Stand above the West Enclosure ,went for a piss at H/T and I was side by side pissing alongside a mentally challenged.
Surreal experience.
We used to get 18,000 at the Piggery but I swear there were 25,000 crammed in there.
Correct mate. When we were pish they bought tickets for the Govan. Remember it a couple of times.Them getting bits of the Govan Stand only happened a couple of times. I boughtt certainly wasn't a regular occurrence.
We got a huge allocation at parkhead as well to be fair.
We were pish and they bought tickets for the Govan that we struggled to sell.As well as the full Broomloan, they were also given the West Enclosure, part of the Main Stand and a section in the lower and upper Govan Stand.
Why on earth did we give them such a high percentage of our 44,000 capacity stadium?
1982 - 83 season went to last game of season with Aberdeen , Celtic & Dundee Utd all in contention.I've seen this pop up before.
I'm sure it was something to do with them chasing the title so were given a bigger allocation for this game.
Pretty sure they messed it up and lost out to Dundee utd at the end.

last time i can remember being in the jungle for a game against that shower, was the game they had straw covering the pitch for frost protection, and their groundstaff were still clearing it when the bears were coming into the ground,, cue old mcdonalds farm getting an airing, along side the obligatory ,parkhe
Last time I remember conditions as you recall might well be Jan 77.
Always remember wee scumbag Doyle, ever the livewire, warming/scamming up at the Rangers end before kick off.
They think they wind us up a'la Sniffiths and the mong.
They ust don't get it.
Bitter pricks. We actually got the full jungle in the last official game played at the piggery (Scottish cup final) hey couldn’t handle this fact and had hastily arranged a friendly game to stop the bragging rights that we were going to be the last team singing the sash in the jungle before they dropped the cesspool to the ground
last time i can remember being in the jungle for a game against that shower, was the game they had straw covering the pitch for frost protection, and their groundstaff were still clearing it when the bears were coming into the ground,, cue old mcdonalds farm getting an airing, along side the obligatory ,parkheads a piggery
This was before the east Terracing was separated from the jungle. You used to be able to walk into the jungle from the Terracing. I think there was some crowd loss in the modifications.24k in the 60s and 70s apparently.
sounds about right ,Jan 77?
The last time we were in their main stand for a league game was August 89.The next game at the shit tip when Spackman scored we just had the traditional Rangers end.
We had it in 1989 for Mo Johnstons first game against them.I was in it
Yes. I was at the piggery that night we won 3-1. I was in our end and remember looking down seeing the bears giving it laldy in the jungle. All 3 goals from defenders,Sandy ,Bomber and Alex Miller.Lets not be fair and stick to reality.
We got part of the filth's main stand and part of the jungle into the 1970s,
We definitely were in the jungle in the GC final of Aug 76. Cant remember if we were there on the first game of the season proper in the September (2-2)
After that until the cesspit was revamped, we had the Rangers end and part of the Main Stand, and gradually that was phased out.
In the 80s we got 1 end and part of their main stand, their capacity was nearly 68,000 and probably went well over it when we visited, they got 4 stands/parts of our ground at a vastly reduced capacity.
I used to stand in the West Enclosure as a wee boy against them with my Dad and 2 Uncles who were bouncers and built like tanks. They refused to move for them. I was too young to shite myself. They only got a section of the Govan on a couple of occasions.
The area at the tunnel with them in the West enclosure was wild at times. better now, less of them!
They had a capacity of 68k and us 44k, is that right? Seems a huge difference, why is that? Take it we were all seated except enclosure? Where they all standing? It was before my time.
As an aside does anyone have a timeline of Ibrox capacity through the years and the developments that changed the capacity i.e.
1998: filled the corners took us to 50,000+
XXXX: dropped the pitch adding Y seats.
Had a look online but couldn’t see anything, would be interesting to see the capacity through the years and the changes that brought it about.
And the Social Club on London Road.We also used to get half the Jungle - last game we had a section in there about 79/80?
Also worth reminding people - you could go into the Celtic Pools office in the city centre and buy tickets for any area of the ground including the Rangers areas.
I meant just in the traditional Rangers end on Janefield St mate,it was supposed to be18,000 in there. We got 24,000 when we sold initial amount of 21,000 I think and they opened the segregated area of the Rangers end next to the jungle.
I would suggest that the last time we were allocated a section of the Jungle was a good few years prior to 1979. It was in 1979 that they won the League against us at the end of the season, we were definitely not in the Jungle that day, it would have been carnage. I started going to League games there in 76. I can’t remember seeing any Rangers fans in the Jungle although I can recall getting about 20% of their Main Stand well into the 80’s.We also used to get half the Jungle - last game we had a section in there about 79/80?

I’ve saw a few posts mention us giving them the Govan due to us being crap etc etc. We still gave them a disproportionately high number of tickets in the late 80s, early 90s when Ibrox was bursting at the seams every other week, waiting lists for season tickets and the like, they still got the west enclosure and part of the main stand, as well as the Broomie obviously.
Bobby Williamson scored the winner that day in 1984 and yeah they had small section of the Govan3 games they had a small section of Govan both Front and Rear
14th May 83
5th Nov 83 - we sent tickets on the Friday (day before game) to Celtic
21st April 84
That's was I remember. I stood in the jungle for a number of games including the 3 -1 win in the Glasgow cup final. There were still Rangers fans in the jungle for the 1-1 October 1975.
Im sure there were none for the 2-2 in September 1976. So it was
either the 0-0 at the end of 75/76 or the Glasgow Cup final 1976
when we last got an allocation.
I don’t remember them getting the Govan!? The Scottish semi when huistra got sent off they had Broomloan and Govan as it was a “neutral” venueAs well as the full Broomloan, they were also given the West Enclosure, part of the Main Stand and a section in the lower and upper Govan Stand.
Why on earth did we give them such a high percentage of our 44,000 capacity stadium?
Most certainly was a cash gate at the Piggery. I remember Paying in a few times.I seem to remember a cash gate at the Piggery around about 1985 when the nine men I think ?!? Secured a 1 1 draw
Did we not get it right into the 80’s?Im sure we had fans in that stand when I first went there.Maybe 1983/84?
When they got the full Broomloan, west enclosure, main stand and Govan stand, it was during a period where we were getting very very poor attendance's, that was the reason they got part of the Govan as that was never recognised as an area of Ibrox for them, they just bought up tickets for it as we weren't selling out our allocation. This only happened about 6 or 7 times and it was the early 80s
The sections in the Govan was a one off for a game they had a chance of winning the league and we were at our lowest. Loads of them turned up without tickets.
As well as our huge allocation in our end we had a fairly big section of their main stand.
