The Poznan Massive outside after after the final whistle cheering their heroes - lovely lads! See y’all in December.

My uncle was killed at Monte Cassino and I visited the cemetery a few years back. About halfway up the hill to the monastery there is a Polish cemetery for all the Polish soldiers who died fighting there. Brave lads.

8 out of 10 members of the Wehrmacht who died - died in the East.
It's mental tbh mate. I don't think we quite grasp nowadays the actual amount of life's lost in that war you can't really comprehend it. I was watching a programme called Battlefield recovery on Netflix and they were going about the battlefields of the eastern front exuming trenches and the amount of shallow Graves in Poland with woman and children is harrowing.

I love the story of the Polish destroyer Piroun - built in John Brown's yard it was given to the Polish Navy and engaged in the defence of Clydebank during the Blitz.

She was the first ship to sight the Bismarck and immediately attacked - exchanging salvo after salvo for over an hour despite the Bismarck being 20 times larger before having to break off the engagement. Before commencing fire the captain radioed the Bismarck with a short message - "I am a Pole,"

Took part in the Russian and Malta convoys.

I actually used to work with a couple of lech Poznan fans. Nice guys. They said their team was rubbish (fifteen years ago now) but poznan was a nice place.

They said 'Lech' was the name of the local beer so its the equivalent of us being called Tennents Glasgow.

I am sure I read that Lech are named after the was the mythical founder of Poland. Perhaps that’s the why the beer is called that also.

I passed through Wroclaw on the train going to Gniezno and yeah I agree100%, it's a great country to visit. Would definitely go again, a bit difficult just now as I've been in Chile for the last 5 years
How's Seb Rozental getting on?

Ive never been there Gordy, but been in Warsaw & Wroclaw.

Bloody good country to visit. Had a few mad nights there mate.

Been to Krakow and Wroclaw and loved both cities, would quite happily go back to Krakow.

Poland is a great country to visit, cheap and fantastic food and drink scene.

He's playing amateur football and is an Engineer, an engineer of what I don't know but he studied in Uni and has a profession
Thanks for the update gordy73
Good to know he's alive and well.
A player we never saw the the best of, for one reason or another

It was the injury to his knee in his 1st game v St Johnston. That basically finished him at the level he could and should've reached. I don't think it was dealt with correctly and back then it was a very serious injury, still serious know but with medical advancements and techniques players can recover better.

Been to Poland a couple of times, good people and some pretty stunning women. I’ve visited Wroclaw, Warsaw and Bialystock, it’s a great country and I’ll need to visit Auschwitz as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.

Hi what a lovely picture,my dad was also a d day Dodger survived monte casino, never mentioned it,and only found out after he Passed away in 2002,that was a horrendous battle

They do, but Wroclaw has a load too.

In the last few years there’s been a noticeable increase in ‘men’s clubs’ in Wroclaw.
As we agreed, it's a great country anyway, with good food, good drink and nice ladies... really I can't see the reason for going lol

Went to Poznań for a stag during Euro 2016 and loved the place. The group went off on a cycle (I know...), so my mate and I just got bevvied on the cheap beer and shots for the Euro games (including Northern Ireland beating Ukraine :D ). Got a nice spot near the front as Poland were playing Germany.

Absolutely cracking atmosphere and lovely, welcoming bunch of people. I do remember a police officer coming up to us during the day though, asking us if we were from the UK then gave us a Nazi salute and ‘Seig Heil’, what seemed like a joke (or at least I hope it was...). Pretty awkward!

Also done Wroclaw and Kraków, two fantastic cities. A trip to Auschwitz was very harrowing but definitely worth the visit.
