The Premier League's ambitious plan to resume season behind closed doors at the start of MAY in order to finish by July 12 to avoid TV contract rebate

More interested in £££ than peoples lives. Many EPL clubs shitting themselves about going to the wall as the are solely reliant on TV money so desperately trying to come up with a way to resume playing soon which in my opinion is never going to be allowed.

When families in different households cannot meet and folks with medical issues are being shielded, the EPL comes up with this! Kind of shows where their priorities are. This is going to end in all kinds of lawsuits from players and clubs!

There’s v little chance of this being able to happen.

Football is not “essential work”.

People live in a bubble - even EPL Execs who seem to think they are unique in facing financial pressures during this time.

At long last, we might see the ridiculous player wages come back to some form of sanity.
Unfortunately the cost will be hundreds or even thousands of club employees also affected, cleaners, ground staff, catering etc.

The football bodies will try and sell this as being essential to people's mental health.

Well if that's the case, let their proposal go ahead and donate every penny to the various mental health charities.

No chance of this happening, they are selfish and money grabbing B*****s

Never happen they are not key workers and will be prosecuted rightly so .They are not special. I think they know that and are just hanging on to delay paying it back. Are they not insured for this kind of thing if not will whoever is in charge be sacked for gross misconduct.

I wouldn't be surprised if this happens regardless of how unlikely it is. It could be very tightly controlled by clubs but the players will have to say goodbye to any family contact for a month or so id imagine

All these crazy plans need to be binned.
Football, currently needs to stop being driven by money.
Saving lives is much more important.
It just goes to show it is run worldwide by greedy, unscrupulous amateurs.
No football before September 1st,at the earliest should be the message.

If the TV money goes back, then the players cannot be paid for work they will not be doing, I don't see the massive deal.

Yep. I think something with so much money behind it will find a way to do this, even if its through a loophole they'll be getting off the hook when that much money is on the line. Be interesting to see how low they can go, eg if a match goes ahead where a player is out injured due to having covid.

TV companies will need football soon enough. Clubs and associations would do well to remember these TV companies that forced their arm during this crisis.

How are they going to play games when you are staying 2mtrs away from someone most businesses are having to shut down till this is over, why do people think football is different, people losing their lives everyday seems to fall into insignificance .

No way the government will allow it if the general public is still in lockdown. If public restrictions were lifted by May, then perhaps it could go ahead behind closed doors, but the chances of that are virtually nil.

Put it this way, I won’t be re-instating my sky Sports package to watch this if it somehow gets the green light to go ahead.

There's no way that is happens if we are in essence still locked down. The uproar would be too much and others would use it as an excuse or reason to open up too.

Bet your bottom dollar though that as soon as these restrictions are lifted, possibly even slightly, there will be behind closed doors game going ahead.

Every game would need medical doctors and an ambulance there, these resources will be needed elsewhere

This and also the PFA won’t allow it . Social distancing still happening but their members to career around a pitch having close physical contact with 21 other players ? Won’t happen .

Total neglect on the NHS.....we would see pubs unofficially open allowing punters to watch the games together, gatherings in gardens for B-B-Qs etc and potentially putting the country back weeks if not months as we then start the spread of the virus once again.

"Our clubs have got hundreds of millions. They dont want to have to give a fraction of that back to the tv companies, so we are going to put hundreds of families at risk by getting the players mixing again"

Crazy, there is no way in hell this is happening.
The police will never allow it in case fans gather outside the grounds to sing etc, like at the PSG game.

Throw the wanks talking about this in with the utter cvnts at Reptile FC.

It'll be early June probably, by the time the Government allows some leeway on public restrictions. The Clubs all over Europe need to show respect and support in all of this.

Exactly, plus on the day that Liverpool clinch the league, try keeping potentially tens of thousands of Liverpool fans away from the Stadium or off the streets of Liverpool.

If the teams didn’t back to back the contract conditions from the broadcasters to the players then hell mend them.

Not sure the public would appreciate that just now. If football was allowed some kind of exemption. Also where they getting medical staff from if country is still in the teeth of this?

Fûck it, pick each sides best player and go 1 v 1 in a cage like the old Pepsi ads. First to 11, 5 is half time, swap sides.

There seems to be this arrogance from the EPL that they should be exempt from the financial hardships that will affect most other leagues and the majority of people who pay to watch the games.

No chance, the virus is not going anywhere and it is inevitable some players, manager and officials will get it.

They need to start facing and planning for the reality.

Sickening is a more apt description.

English football has been completely warped by money and greed.

now they’ve reached the point where they are more than happy to risk the lives of the players and the public just so they don’t need to pay sky back the money that’s been paid in advance. That no doubt they’ve already spunked to overpay average players to play in the so called best league in the world.
