The Scottish media revisionism regarding Lennon

The most persecuted player ever to ply his trade in Scotland, according to a supposed journalist from BBC Scotland. I reckon the overt racism towards Alfredo Morelos, which still continues to this day, would suggest otherwise.
The reality is that Lennon led a charmed life both as a player and Manager in Scotland. The Scottish media revelled and laughed when Lennon as a player repeatedly flicked the v-sign to opposing supporters during games, they said nothing when he feigned injury to ensure an opposing player was red-carded, an offence for which they correctly pilloried Rangers Kyle Lafferty during a game against Aberdeen. This poster boy and supposed endless victim of sectarianism was caught on camera shouting vile sectarian abuse at the Rangers bench at Ibrox. Again, the Scottish media said nothing. It would be a lie to say that Lennon wasn't subject to verbal abuse, sectarian or otherwise, while in Scotland. However, sectarian bigots always attract other sectarian bigots. It is always worthwhile recalling that Lennon's own father stated that he would never visit the Piggery ever again due to the mindless abuse that his son was receiving every week from Celtc supporters. That countless Irish footballers have played in Scotland for more than a century without any " anti-Irish racism " directed towards them only confirms what everyone knows, and that is trouble attracts trouble. Scottish football, indeed Scottish society, will now be a calmer place with a toxic and poisonous influence removed with his long and overdue departure.

Excellent OP and sums the lies up in a nutshell. Not that we should be surprised. They ignored and mollycoddled this wee corner boy all his time at the scum hut, so they simply can't change their lies now.

As I said the other day, he walks away secure in the knowledge his own kind hate him as much, if not more than we ever could.

And no amount of revisionism on their part can change the truth of what took place at Sharkheid over the last three or four months.

This sort of total revisionism was always going to surface from the usual sycophantic sewer dwellers that support the tramp. It started yesterday with that wee gimp from Dundee, Spence.

He`s the only living person this side of Saturn`s rings that has the 5XL Victim Gold Card. It`s just a fact we have to deal with ...

The Aberdeen fans chant summed up fans views on him. We’re not sectarian , Neil Lennons a lady's front bottom.

In terms of being treated completely differently to everyone else in all aspects of working and personal life by the media here it's Morelos by an absolute mile.

Young lad comes over to Europe from South America, makes a name for himself in Finland and earns a move to Rangers. He barely speaks our language. His tenacity on the park is viewed as thuggery however Brown makes a career of being a filthy player and it's 'because he has heart'.

The man is hated as he was the first to take it to the mentally challengeds after their years of unchallenged dominance. He treats them with the respect they deserve - none, and boy they can't handle it.

Also the fact he is black plays a major part in this and no-one will change my mind on that. All you have to do is type in his name to google and the first pre-empted question that comes up is 'Is Morelos black'. Tells you all you need to know.

The pain and suffering it will cause to see his cheeky wee grin when he lifts the league trophy this season will be quite something. It'll become an iconic image of a triumph of a young black man who against all adversity from outside the Rangers circle was victorious in the end.

surely people can not like person because they think he's a prick?

he got booed at all SPL grounds, people knew what sort of person he is
^^^
This.

The fact that he's a NI Roman Catholic is coincidental and fcuk all to do with why he's detested. The guy is one unpleasant fcuker.

People need to join the dots. There's been plenty Catholics managed them and didn't get the stick that Lennon got. There is a reason for that.

As a Manager, Lennon caused an unprecedented ref strike in 2010 with his relentless harassment and intimidation of refs and officials. Just don't expect to read that either in the various hagiographies being printed today.

He's not black though.

Sam English got worse abuse than just about any footballer. Has anyone implied that Lennon deliberately killed an opponent?

Don’t forget the dramatically throwing himself to the deck clutching his alky features when a coin hit his big padded jacket at Tynecastle... disgrace the media pretended not to see the blatant simulation and we all had to go along with it.
Never hear about the time Le Guen went to the shitpit and was spat on by one of the bheasts, that didn’t fit the narrative

It's absolutely sickening the media in this country's reaction to it. All publicly displaying their sadness for poor wee Lennon and telling us how great they think he is. Shown up for the rancid bigots we know they are .
Remember back to when it was Pedro and even Murty at us. absolutely torn apart , laughed at and kicked at every opportunity by all quarters. Even McCoist, one of nicest men you could ever meet absolutely torn apart in the media. All with a fraction of the budget and resources Lennon had at his disposal for the bheasts. But of course they can't be too critical or hard on their wee favourite victim Lennon.
In my opinion it's just one more horrible basturt gone from Scottish football for now. I'm sure theyl find a like for like replacement though . One just as detestable as that little scumbag Lennon, one that will play the victim role down to a tee, Steve Clarke maybe?

Tbf the jacket is still in intensive care...

How can anyone in scottish society, government, football have ANY respect for this man any more??
Yet still journos produce nauseating articles about how great he is (sorry, was) and how he suffered like no other...

I remember seeing him on Byres road at a taxi rank and someone gave him a bit of abuse - he took it hook line and sinker. He had the taxi door open a his missus was already in - he then proceeded to have a five minute verbal fight with the guy (clearly bricking it but not wanting to lose face).
Any person in his position would’ve got in and walked away.
He oozes utter a pathetic stench and likes to dish it out but like all of that lot can’t take it back.
The whole of Scottish football will benefit from his departure.
Well done winning the league titles without a challenge - now GTF ya prick.

I hope he gets a job in china or the middle east or anywhere out of Scotland. If not i will bet my bottom dollar he will be front page news regarding a assault once the pubs open, and we know it will be turned into a sectarian hate crime by his pals in the media. He is and always will be poison, a stain on society.

I would agree Lennon was his own worst enemy with his attitude on the pitch but never would the media rip into him the way the do to Morelos. I would say he was a good player though if you take away the crap surrounding him.

With regards the bit bolded, I think he was a victim in Scotland but in the sense that anti sectarian groups used him as their poster boy as you say and completely overstated the abuse coming his way. These anti sectarian group fuelled the abuse aimed at Lennon as it suited their agenda - they actually made him their victim.

I mind someone saying that he was asked to speak at anti sectarian events and he told them to fxxk off? I wonder if that was true or just pish.

Was it any worse than what Novo was getting off celtic fans, no it wasn't.

The anti sectarian industry in Scotland is big money and they will be gutted Lennon is gone.

A large amount of the Celtic support hate him quite as much as anyone else.
They didn't want him back and the shark attacks followed the confirmation that they had been duped. The gangrene brigade barely contained their hate and only through being indulged.

He appeals to the self loathers in the Scottish Media, plays the victim card beautifully and of course someone bites and turns the narrative on its head.
Sturgeon fell for it after the coin on the jacket incident and once she’d declared him a brave man, which of the sycophants was going to point out that he’d threatened a pregnant woman with a stabbing? The press and so many others painted themselves into a corner over the wee prick.

Exactly. Disgusting behaviour. That's the gutter standards of the Scottish main stream media and it's band of willing accomplices for you.

Not to forget the incident when he spat on the Rangers scarf...?

Martin O’Neil has a lot to answer another one who grasped the sectarian victim card caring nothing of the stain it left on our game both of them are well rid of the Scottish game sadly their actions will live on .

unfortunately what we all know is he's heading for a cushy pundit job

on what platform is the only thing we don't know :( no chance he's going out of football to take a rest like a normal person would. Already fits the criteria for most of them as well, doesn't like us

It's always escaped me why the term "anti-Irish racism" could be used with any validity towards Lennon given the fact that he is not Irish. He's British
