I think we,re short changing ourselves at £20 million, I look at the money being paid for average championship players down there and that is simply due to the fact that they are down there. Suppose it will be down to the player wanting to go and the right club coming in for him. Only my opinion.

hopefully this talk regards Watford makes a few other clubs start to show their hand and gets that price moving up the way. i do think a bigger club will be his final destination

am going to be a wee bit controversial - of all the players who could be sold for big bucks this summer (Kent, Goldson, Barisic etc)

Kamara is the one i would cash in on first - dont get me wrong, if it was possible I would keep them all, but a chance to sell Kamara, replace him with a Veerman type player (most likely for a 3rd of the price with millions banked) that is our correct business sense model going forward..

For me I think with age and value coming into play I think we could see goldson going had some season and only got a year left and 30 years of age, also see us selling barisic aswell it’s the right time to cash in on these 2 in guess somewhere between £8-£10m for goldson and £12-£15m for barisic.
Also if we were offered good money for kamara like £15-£20m which I think will happen he ll be off too.
I see him at a West Ham,Arsenal,Leicester Everton type of team, He’s good enough for that level.

Totally agree, a few years ago we didn’t even know the guy existed now we can’t sell him because we can’t replace him.

we need to get onboard with the notion of selling and making money to breathe more life into the squad.

Correct. “Player trading” was identified in the share issue prospectus as an area that we had neglected or simply been unable to achieve in recent years, and that it would play a much more prominent role in our finances in future. Which makes absolute sense if we are to be sustainable without director loans etc. So the notion that we can’t sell our top players is very naive. We will sign players, develop them and sell them on at a profit. What that means this transfer window - and indeed every transfer window - is that any of our top assets could be sold if a suitable bid is received. Alfie, Kent, Kamara, Borna, Goldson, Tav, Hagi, Aribo, Helander etc. Ross Wilson and the management team know that and will constantly be looking at players based on a “what if” scenario. Bringing in Wright in January and Sakala this summer are great examples of that. We seem quite well off in the front 3 department, right now. But if we get big offers for any of Kent, Morelos, Hagi or Aribo then 2 of them could easily be sold. Sakala and Wright are already on board and cover those positions. I expect to see more of this in future.

It seems everyone has had their say in who they believe is most likely to go.
For me it is Kamara.

Why though? He’s still young, has 2 years left on his contract and is in midfield, the area we most need to strengthen. I’d think we would be trying hard to keep him and would more likely sell a forward or defender or two. If Kamara shows up in the CL and keeps progressing the way he is he’ll be worth much more in a year or two.

Of course if Kamara himself is intent on finding a new and lucrative challenge, that’s a different story.

I think he has the biggest upside for buying clubs.
I could also see the board understandably seeing £50k turn into multi millions as a good result.
And I believe the management could think of ways to replace him more easily than say a Barisic or Kent.

None of that takes away from the fact he's a beautiful player, and I would be very sad to lose him.

I think most of us get most of your post, anything else would be wishful thinking at best.
However, by the same token, we need to maintain a good level of quality at all times and have a bit more than just hoping Sakala will be as good for us as Kent has been.
I’d also suggest Wilson and Gerrard will make sure we don’t invite negative PR in the financial sections, the negatives will still be aplenty in the sports pages, by selling two of our top three or four assets.

Would be crazy to agree a deal with a club the now for Kamara, wait till after the Euro's are over,Finland have 2 games left and have 3 points so look good to reach the last 16, his transfer price will only increase if he keeps performing well in the tournament.

Goldson is only 28 mate.

FWIW the original source for Kamara talk:

Watford ongoing talks with Rangers for midfielder Glen Kamara. However, the main objective remains Seko Fofana currently in force at Lens.

Tweet from Gianluigi Longari, Italian journalist.

Watford ffs, Kamara is much better than that.
True enough but its a pathway into the EPL and hes young enough to play a season or so well at a club like them, then move to something bigger.

While this particular move is likely fake news, something similar is much more likely than Kamara to Spurs/Arsenal/etc this summer.

I don’t want to lose Kamara but it’s going to happen at some point. Remember, he’s also suspended for the Champions League qualifiers.
Stock will be high straight after the euros.

Which like it or not means a good time to maximise the amount we can get for the player.

I'm more worried about losing Goldson tbh given he only has a year left. Bad enough losing such an important player, but for less than he's worth financially would just compound the loss.

You’re probably right regarding goldson and kamara but I have a feeling morelos ain’t going anywhere
No heavy rumours on Morelos yet like last summer all the rumours seem to be about Kamara , Barisic and the inevitable sale of Goldson if he doesn't sign a new deal

I think folk need to prepare themselves for a popular player, or two, leaving to bigger leagues.

It will be a pisser given the bond with the squad that won 55, though.
We need to sell, we cannot carry on relying on the directors to plug the financial gap. Hopefully merchandise sales and increased commercialism will make a serious dent in that but we need to be realistic that as long as the disparity exists between smaller nations and ones like the EPL we will look to tern profits on players year on year. Reinvestment is key.

Love that “bang average” line.
One day I’ll find out what it means as opposed to “average”.
On Campbell though, many thought he had more going for him than Turnbull.
I hate that term. See it used to describe everyone from Pawlett to Pogba. Suchba clichéd soundbite.

Correct, unfortunately it has to be the model going forward.

Selling Kamara for example at £20 million and bringing in a Veerman type player at £7 million will be seen as good business, despite how attached we've all got to the wee man

Kamara would be tough to replace that's for sure. You saw with the likes of Coulibaly and Zungu how difficult it is to find a player like that who actually has the quality we need.

That would be sensational business. A couple of good seasons in Europe btw I have no doubts at all that Veerman would break the Scottish transfer record.

Yes it'll be sad to see anyone of Kamara, Barisic, Morelos, Aribo etcetera go but as long as we hold on to the bulk of the squad and reinvest properly there's nothing stopping us going on to be stronger for it both on and off the park.

I would like a little more than £20m for Kamara tho.

I’d like to think we’d get a good sell on for Kamara in place.

Say we sell him for £15m, his value would double in as season or so just by being in the EPL playing well

Good luck with that.

This forum will be in complete melt down the second we look like selling anyone for a massive profit.

Great post

A sell on clause for Glen is essential

He is still young and improving so will only get better

If he has another 2 good games and Finland progress to last 16 it gives him more visibility and hopefully we can maximise his fee

If the gimp Tierney who is constantly injured goes for £25m to Arsenal then that’s the starting point fee wise plus the sell on

Unless big Connor signs an extension we really have to cash in on him too before window closes
