The Premiership is the place all players want to play.

Glenn is from London as well so a move to Watford would move him closer to his family.

I think he is far better than Watford personally but if he has as much belief in his ability as it seems, he will fancy getting a move to a better club than Watford after a season proving himself in the EPL. Especially if Watford were to be relegated.

Yeah I'd agree, as you say though 12 months playing well and he could end up anywhere.

Exactly this. Its a no lose situation for Kamara. Even if teams get relegated, there better players still get moves to bigger clubs.

We need to sell, we cannot carry on relying on the directors to plug the financial gap. Hopefully merchandise sales and increased commercialism will make a serious dent in that but we need to be realistic that as long as the disparity exists between smaller nations and ones like the EPL we will look to tern profits on players year on year. Reinvestment is key.
With this ‘we need to sell’ stuff, worth remembering if we win the league this year it’s champions league guaranteed, that would be the equivalent to selling 3/4 of our better players.

That’s not even taking this season into account.

It’s a gamble keeping the players in order to get those riches, but it’s also a gamble selling and missing out (allowing them those riches…)

Watford?

That's a step down in career in all but earnings.

Kamara is better than Watford

Look at the players that move to smaller English clubs then get snapped up for big bucks.

it’s a stepping stone, big teams are happy to see how players cope in the league before moving for them, they don’t care they could have had them for relative pennies.

Andy Robertson, Virgil Van Dyke

Even John McGinn, goes to Villa the next season touted as a £50million target for Man Utd

All we can offer is European football, the EPL it’s big wages and competitive games for players every week.

What ever business we do we need to make sure the sell on % is as high as at least 50%

An excellent point and you suspect many of them are told by Agents to take those seemingly small moves on the promise of getting moved on again within 24 months max.

It may well be a better deal for Rangers if he goes to lower half team where he can really stand out - smaller fee plus sell on %age, rather than a slightly larger fee to an upper middle club.

Yes, Kamara could do better than Watford, but let's not forget he left Arsenal to go to Dundee . He must have been confident enough to see Dundee as a stepping stone, so why not Watford ?
As a professional footballer, the chance of going from £8k (Rangers, guesswork) to £40k (Watford, guesswork) will influence him.

Slightly off on a tangent ... when do we need to register players for the Champions league qualifiers? anyone know as hopefully we can add a couple in time for that deadline.

Qualifiers are done round by round

d. 29 July 2021 (24.00CET) for all matches in the third qualifying round;
e. 12 August 2021 (24.00CET) for all matches in the play-offs;
f. 2 September 2021 (24.00CET) for all further matches from the first match in the group stage up to and including the final.

But we must meet the criteria in the1st place to add them

I didn't even know 2400 was a time

Thanks mate, know you would know the answer :)

much appreciated.

I have seen the same statement over and over on football boards over the years.

"X player can do better than X team"

What does that mean? It's an absurd contradiction of a statement.

If X player is in the EPL, playing on the worst team in that league...he is not playing his own team. He is playing Man U, Man City, Liverpool...etc.
He is displaying his talents against the best, in front of the wealthiest, most well coached clubs in the world (IMO).
Further, if a player exhibits consistent quality, and performance on some of the lower rung teams, it will only be highlighted more. Thus, he will probably get MORE pitch time.

"Can do better' is a complete non-starter. Getting in that league should be the goal.

I think almost all of the players who will go on to play in a better league will probably want to give it one more season at Rangers with the chance of Champions League Football. Many of them may well go onto play at a higher level but how many will go on to play for a club who are playing Champions League, it may well be the only chance most of them get staying where they are.

Hopefully we can keep what we have and add some qaulity as the potential of where Gerrard can take us is quite frightening. I can honestly see him winning a treble if he is backed by the board and he can hold onto what we already have.

Anyone heard rumours of Fleck rejoining us? Just something I heard. Just a rumour.

I’d be delighted if that was the case but think he’d be rather expensive. Not sure of his contract position at Sheffield Utd and I imagine a few teams offering premiership wages would be after him.

I wouldn't. I think we can find better and at a younger age.
Only thing it would be good for would be home grown status.

Not sure if this is accurate or not but if it is Fleck is on £8,000 per week.

Fleck would be a backwards step - good player but replacing Davis with another ageing player is not the way to go.
We need a younger player who can develop with Davis then eventually replace him with added dynamism.Ljubljana/Veerman/Dorsch type is the way to go.

I wouldn't call him an ageing player.

He's turning 30 in August and in his prime.

Fleck is (like Jack) 29, so has a few good years ahead of him. Aside from Davis (36), we have Arfield (32), Jack (29), Kamara (25), Aribo (24, who has played a large chunk of his career as CM), and the "future forgotten" man Ofoborh (21). Much depends on how SG wants to set us up next season and whether he rotates the squad and tactics. I reckon quite few of those we want to sign for that position will want games ... and getting past Davis, Kamara and Jack will be a challenge.

Reports in Turkey Fenerbahçe have turned down our offer for Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Looks like they want to keep him/awaiting another offer.

Fleck can’t be on 8k a week surely especially after signing a new deal last year?
When the Lundstrum rumour was doing the rounds, it was mooted then that all the Sheffield Utd players were on between £5k and £25K per week if I remember correctly. I know I was surprised at how low some were being paid considering they were plying their trade in the richest league in the world.

Edit, it was here I seen it - https://www.spotrac.com/epl/sheffield-united-fc/payroll/

Bite your hand off for another loan with option to buy.

One of a few very impressive ways of enhancing the squad whilst being very sensible about it at the same time.
Would be a decent option to go for especially since Fenerbahçe are reluctant to sell.

Morelos would suit Porto. Give us 15m upfront with another 5m in add ons and we would sell I think.
Porto/Benfica/Sevilla are the types of teams that would suit Morelos and you could see him going up another level or two these clubs have great records with South American strikers especially making them better and selling them on for massive money.

Morelos would run riot in Portugal and to a lesser extent Spain the clubs outwith the top 6/7 are bang average.

With his physicality he would run riot in Portugal.

That can't be accurate. He signed his last extension with SU in the middle of last season after playing 24 EPL games and scoring 5 goals.

If it is accurate, he needs to get a new agent after signing for us on a cut price deal... :D

The lack of any real rumours is intriguing; there is very remote speculative guesses, some of a very obvious nature, but the distinct lack of "noise", of any real substance, is interesting to say the least.
