Not saying the guys a waste but for a bit more we could have got Shankland.
Not really a bit more. They are saying £5m for Shankland. Yes that may be their starting position, but they’re hardly going to take it down that much for us of all people. There’s been a lot of naivety about how easy it would be to do that deal.

Ok maybe slightly but still, never trained at this level and we spend a good chunk of our transfer budget on him.

Doesn't make sense to me.
You can only say it was a good chunk of our budget when our transfer business is concluded in September. And even if it is, think back to 17-18 when we used a sizable amount of our budget on Morelos. That worked out pretty well.

All this focus on Igamane and his fee is completing down to a case of Shanklanditis. And it's creating a negative mindset towards an exciting new player who hasn't kicked a ball for us yet.

The complete silence - and apparent inactivity - out of Ibrox hours before the CL registration deadline and two days before the season starts, is disgusting. Shows complete mismanagement.

We were promised a rebuild, and we are actually weaker than we were at the end of May.
What is the male version of a Karen? Suspect his name is Ken. Or Terry. Or Greg. And he might be you.

For all of the kicking that poster is getting and while his delivery is off-the-mark, the jist of his comment is correct.

The narrative from Ibrox has changed since May and it’s not unreasonable to be questioning what has happened.

I really hope we can get players in who can start vs. Kyiv; it’s such a huge game.
Get him lads!

£5m is nowhere near realistic if they don’t sell him in this transfer window someone will in the January one be it on a pre-contract or a cut down deal, maybe Hearts will give him a new deal on the wages they think he is worth.

Are you wanting a doing as well? :))

In all seriousness, what has changed re the narrative?

We all know a rebuild is required, but that’s not going to happen in 2 months. We have players on long contracts that we can’t sell, or haven’t sold yet. And until we do we can’t bring new players in.

Given the catastrophic mismanagement of this squad over a number of years now, this is going to take several windows to correct.

We’d all love new players right now. But the financials of a bloated squad don’t allow for that until we can continue to move players out.

Bennett can earnestly talk us through the 'trading model' again and again. Ultimately, though, there are so many variables involved to make that a success.

Only one thing guarantees significant income and that is qualification for the Champions League. We're a few days away from a €5m tie - is that not worth more than all domestic prize winnings?

In May, the manager referred to the importance and pressures of August given the number and significance of the games we'd be playing. I can't believe the squad is currently as he would have hoped.

If not, then what has happened - have we failed to move on players that we thought we could?

They want 5 million, the same way i will be challenging for the Masters next April. Like you say, wait until January and we could get him for less than a million. Hearts are being ridiculous and it will cost them serious money - exactly the same mistakes we have made clinging on to unrealistic fees for players. A 2.5 million fee and 1.75 goes on their rebuild. It would make them a better team. Similar to us - gross mismanagement.

Don't say that!

That’s Duke.

Anyone know the name of the other Kelpie?

It’s almost the name of a Rangers player

But unless we sell Dessers we will not sign another striker IMO. Danilo is a £5m striker who we can't sell due to fitness and our MIA striker cost just under £2m and wasnt signed to be a 4th choice striker. We have about £12m of strikers on our books and the wages associated with those values. Maybe a 6 month loan until Danilo is back?
Has Danilo been injured again?

I’m not dense mate. I do know how transfers work, I am aware that he will need to agree to leave, I also know that we will have to replace him. Bit of a pointless reply.
If it was a pointless reply, then it was certainly a pointless post. Nothing said that hasn’t been said before. Complaining that Tav takes up too much of our fan discourse and at the same time adding to it. Come on.

People here trying to justify the absolute state of our squad and this transfer window

We’re being conditioned to accept failure, accept 2nd best, become losers

We’re 2nd best and the gaps getting bigger. We’re basically just a Hearts or Aberdeen now but with a bigger stadium and more fans

Unless things drastically change in the next month (if that’s not already too late) we’ll finish closer to 3rd than 1st and will hand them the title at a canter again

Nonsense, we almost won the league last year, even after a terrible start.

When Cantwell basically fell out out favour at his last two clubs and Hagi's agent comes out and says 'he might not turn up' essentially then clubs will take notice and think hard whether that's the type they want.
He said that when mate?

I think we were in the right, he ended up moving for below what we offered iirc
Got recalled, then never used and then sold.
It wasn't penny pinching it was Beale shifting out Hagi, bringing in Lammers and Beale deciding not to go back in for him.
I wish we had been penny pinching last Summer and Clement might actually have a bean to spend this Summer

Its unfair people with a working brain need to share a message-board with people like this.

Neither you nor anyone else outwith the board and management of Rangers know how much has been spent.

I was responding to a poster who suggested we shouldn't have signed Igamane as we have ''no money''. We don't know exactly what we've spent this window, that's why I said the Propper deal will take our spending to ''around'' £10m during this window.

What we do know for a fact is that we've spent £11.5m this year, between the January window and the current window, and that's not including loan fees. That's what the chairman told us.

The one thing we need to focus on in my mind, especially with the stadium debacle going on in the background, was to start moving on the high earners, and others for decent fees.
So we could focus on bringing in quality for the start of the season, and Europe.
But in my mind we never achieved that.
Instead focused on all the free ones, and in experienced players, which now means we are struggling to get rid of the ones we really needed to at the beginning of the window.
Possibly with the Euros on, that might have affected things, and slowed the pace down, but agents rarely sleep! Euros or no Euros!
Did we miss the boat?

In your opinion. You are not the decision maker on who's comments and opinions are correct.

You have to be at the wind up?

No one is seriously this emotionally incontinent.
