The lack of movement on the midfield is a concern.

I say lack of movement - that of course is outside looking in!!
Yeah, we’ve seen a number of names linked and for one reason or the other, nothing.

Major concern that area. Striker but (and wide areas) are severely lacking

Because we don’t have a bottomless pit of money and this project is over budget
That doesn't mean the player budget is impacted.

Losing the out of contract players wasn't enough to cut the wagebill to the levels required, I suspect this negative thinking is rooted in people assuming these players would be easy to move on & that the board would make more money we don't have available to cover for any who drag their heels on leaving.

Ever since Bennett outlined specifically where we are on transfers, people seem to be trying to make the reality sound worse than it is - I e saying we are restricted to 1 player in/1 player out, suggesting it has to be the stadium issues to blame for our perceived lack of spending and suggesting the club aren't trying hard enough to move non contributors on

It is absolutely none of these things - our former manager and the one before that wasted perfectly adequate budgets over four windows and have somehow made us worse. Previous DoF and board to blame for most of that.

We have players on wages nobody wanted to pay back then, let alone now - we aren't spending as freely as they need to be moved on.

I think we need to ask why the manager can’t manage the creative type of player like cantwell. He seems wed to athletic runners

We've been in talks with Kenny McLean, Joan Jordan and the big lad Hannibal at Man Utd, so we're obviously trying to bring someone else in for that area of the pitch.

If we do manage to sign a player in time for tomorrow's european deadline, it'll probably be a centre midfielder, in my opinion.

We must have another couple of starting quality players signed by the next home game. A CM is an absolute must.

ideally we get a few players in before tomorrow night. Wont happen.

As it stands we won’t beat Kiev over two legs with this current bunch.

Then it’ll be a case of the month of August signing some players, them not being ready and not played as we’ve seen.

We are already starting the season a few points behind basically, if we are anything less than 5 behind come September 1, it would be a major surprise.

This board need to sort the situation asap.

Clement wouldn’t play a player on Tuesday if he signed on Monday

No chance

Applying a doomsday hypothesis? If you read my post again you will see that I questioned whether the Cantwell situation could have been handled better, considering we need to try get some money for him. I even qualified the statement by saying I appreciate if Clement doesn't want him and that I don't know the whole story.

I then said that Hagi's and Igmane's absence was a mystery and that when you look at this as a whole, it reflects poorly. Considering how important it was that we get recruitment right this summer, I think that it is a fair statement. Others may disagree, and that's fine.

Now tell me where this blanket doomsday hypothesis is, hm?
Suggesting there is any mystery around Igamane when the manager has now spoken about it twice. That is one.

Moaning about the fee paid for him, that's two. It could well be that the terms of how we paid for Igamane were even lower or more flexible than we've let on which is why we've chosen to do business.

The manager was very clear that his early business was squad/high potential players

If we agreed a fee with an experienced player who would maybe start right away at the time we signed Igamane, they would've likely required a far higher wage reflecting that.

McCowan from Dundee would be an upgrade on Lawrence and Dowell

Im not suggesting we sign him, it's just a sad indication of the calibre of some of our players
McCowan and whole family are massive Celtic fans know his family from my local area no chance he would come to us.

When was the last time our midfield dominated a game. Was it in Gerrard’s time? With Davis in there?
It certainly hasn't been a consistent thing since Gerrard left.

Gerrard came in and put a solid midfield 3 together that dominated domestic games (Old Firms included), his #10 options typically played on the right wing with freedom to drift inside and have Tav provide the width.

If the transfer budget isn’t impacted by the shambles off the pitch then fair enough but I don’t see how that can be the case given what is involved.

As others have said they are crossing their fingers on this Kiev tie for which we are totally under prepared. I think the stadium debacle and the last few windows - all of which the board oversaw on is unacceptable and they shouldn’t be getting off on it.

From yesterday I can only remember :

Barron - Decent shot & good save by Clark.
Dessers - Great ball from Dio, great touch by Dessers & poor lob.
Dessers - Good cross by Ridvan & good touch by Dessers & shot too straight at Clark.
Dessers - Great cross by Lawrence & very unlucky touch by Rowles to put Dessers header onto the underside of the bar.

Nothing else created, including not one chance by any of our wingers.
Lawrence had a magnificent volley tipped over the bar Grigo.

To be fair, Lawrence didnt do much else all game.

didn’t see much athleticism on show yesterday but I struggle which we persist with 2 in midfield who have to cover too much ground.

Cantwell doesn’t play whether we like it or not as the manager wants discipline and to put the team unit first.
Cantwell seems to struggle with that concept talented as he is .

The state we are in is a result of negligence in previous windows not just this one.

Also, I have no doubt the Ibrox / Hampden debacle is impacting the budget available for players

No doubt they’ve made mistakes made, different boards over recent years, but negligence is a strong word legally, and I don’t attribute it to this summer, at least.
