Very much still net positive but I would imagine we would need to give Lammers €1 million plus of that to bigger off and make up for the wages shortfall he will likely take.

Best €1 million spent in many a year to be fair.
Still would a net gain of 4mil euros plus arguably more importantly it gives us some much needed breathing room in the wage bill going forward.

Quick Google search shows Twente’s top earner is on £8900 p/w. Whether that’s true or not, who knows but I suspect it won’t be far off. I would imagine if we get €5million, we’d have to give him between 1-2 to leave. Lammers is meant to be on 25k a week here.

There's an irony there, as I see Shankland as 2024's Billy Dodds.

In December 1999, less than fifteen months after joining United, 30-year-old Dodds was signed for Rangers (the club he supported in childhood)[9] by manager Dick Advocaat for £1.3m, following injuries to forwards Michael Mols and Jonatan Johansson.[10] Dodds proved an instant success at Ibrox, scoring goals domestically and in European competition. Dodds was part of the squad that won a League and Scottish Cup double in 2000, and a cup double in 2002.[11] He has described his time with Rangers as "the pinnacle of my career".

This guy…? if Shankland has the same effect he will be a legend in a season!

He's got 3 years left at us on £25k a week. His leaving is the biggest act of philanthropy since Carnegie.

A buyer for Lammers?

F*ck me, they’ll be a proper explanation from Bennett on the Copland shambles next.

Lammers scored 11 goals in 6 months in a league that is a much higher standard than the Scottish Premiership.

He can score goals if played in the correct position. He can score goals if he plays in a serious league that has proper refs who know how to punish fouling, unlike Scottish refs that allow a fouling free for all.

Opening the transfer rumours thread and seeing movies being discussed instead.

Always has been, his entire career?

You can back this up?
He made plenty of the same errors at Hearts, a look at their forum around the time will confirm that. It was more forgiven because he's a Hearts level player however and conceding goals for them doesn't cost trophies or attract half as much heat.

He's just not improved at all since coming to us and it's more obvious for us, costing Hearts a goal with rashly diving in or misjudging the ball is par for the course. He's made them pretty consistently with us as well.

As much as I disliked Dodds later on ,as far as I can remember he delivered what he was suppose to .

The thing with Sima is that we are essentially spending a big fee for us to essentially stand still.

If we had faith in our recruitment, you'd think we'd be looking to go and get a better value player who is better than Sima. It's a big ask but we need to be economical with our funds and we need to be better than last season not stood still.

It's only standing still if you believe Sima can't or won't improve.

If we sign Sima this summer and he has another season of the same sort of impact as last, we'd want £15m for him were clubs trying to buy him.

The sort of money being suggested is a steal for a player of his age, ability, proven desire to be here and potential for improvement.

Absolutely, he turned into a real gobshite on the radio. But he did the job he was expected to with us really well. And the chip against Sturm Graz was a cracker!

Update from this chap. Let’s hope it’s true.

If this happens it sure does fly nicely in the face of the people saying we should just release him a mere day or two ago.

Maybe Koppen and co actually do know what they're doing and we're playing the game right, making sure we get the right money for players so we can maximize what we can achieve in the transfer market?

Of course that pisses off the immature impatient loyal who'd rather we overpay for players and release players for far less than they're worth because they lack the backbone for a bit of discomfort.

For those who may have watched him before, is Cerny fast? There's a criminal lack of pace in our side so would be nice to start addressing it.

Think if the 7 mentioned go

Lammers, goldson, hagi, tav, cantwell, dessers and wright.

We will see

Cerny (winger/attacking right - at last!)
New cb
New centre mid
New striker (Shankland?)

Then a loan top up here and tehre

Reduction in wages, age and squad size.

There’s your rebuild.
Thought Cerny has already gone?

If Sima had returned to us fit after his ill fated Africas Cup there was a very good chance we would have won the League, boy was outstanding for us .

£1m for Goldson is criminal IMO
I know we just want his wage gone but bloody hell
I had hoped we would get more, TBH. But he's on a massive wage and obviously in decline, so without Saudi interest our selling options are probably very limited.

We'rem selling from mostly a position of weakness this summer, so there are likely to be a few blows. We just need to suck it up and hope that the new investment strategy works out better.

£15m for him, from where? He'll be another year older and still only really proven himself at the same comparable level (Scotland and Czech Rep).

His loans at both Stoke and Angers didn't amount to anything.

He'd need to come in and be a statistically high performer in Europe for us for clubs on the continent to take note imo and, given our rebuild to date, I think European football at CL level looks a pipe dream.

Only on a Follow Follow transfer thread can you read through a few pages and go from the potential high of Sam Lammers maybe leaving to the low of James Tavernier being compared (rather unfairly) to John Greig with a debate about John Travolta/Vincent Vega and their ability to come back from the dead.

The former in terms of their career and the latter from the dead by appearing in a late scene.

I'm exhausted.

I have this feeling aswell....won't stop us all losing the plot as soon as we drop points! If that is the case and its a reset season then we all need to stick with the players and the manager. I don't think I can go another year of manager change at Halloween only to be here next summer saying the same thing about rebuilding the squad and trying to shift the deadwood. I fully back big Phil to get us where we want to be but it just might not happen as quick as we would all like.
If we're struggling with signings cost wise we won't be changing management unless PC walks , so I'd think we better get behind PC because I think this is short term pain for long term gain

Not saying it's a bad thing!

It’s a simplified version of Travolta’s career.

He rose to stardom almost from nowhere when he made Saturday Night Fever and Grease in the 70s. Then his career hit the skids with a series of flops in the early 80s.

Over the five years before Pulp Fiction he had starring roles in the three Look Who’s Talking films, which showed he had more versatility than previously recognised.

But it was Pulp Fiction that made him once again one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
Of all the posts in the transfer thread this has been the most unexpected for anyone hitting the final page searching for an update mate haha :D

he was decent when we had him but "described his time with Rangers as the pinnacle of my career"

wouldn't think that if you listened to him on Sportsound

This is what I think is interesting about Sima. If we buy him I think it's because we look at him as something of a keeper. He's tried France and England and neither has worked. I think its one of these situations where club (us), league and player are just a really good fit.

If the Lammers thing is true then that would be great news. He is guy who just clearly can't play abroad. He is a good player in the Dutch league and that seems to be his bread and butter.

Now if we could get Dessers for 3m plus then happy days and reinvest that in players who have pace and can finish.
He’s basically the Dutch Kris Boyd.

Not sure that I agree that its paying a fee to stand still as currently we don't have him so we are down a player who had the 2nd highest number of non-penalty goals per 90 in the league last season. That was with him playing as a winger rather than a striker. He's also a known quantity and he knows the score about playing for us.
