The switch to 4-4-2 after 20 minutes today

Was saying in the match thread, it basically won us the game.

Actually liked how it made us less predictable. It also gave Hagi tons of room as they didn't know who should pick him up as it allowed him to drift inside & into the hole.

Will be interesting to see if we use it again

So much more threatening putting early crosses in when we have two strikers running in for headers, the defenders don’t know whether to go back post, front post, mark Morelos or Roofe, they can’t double up on one them as they would usually do. More chance of a loose ball in the box being taken advantage of, more chance of scoring if one defender misses the ball as he’s the only one tracking his striker etc. Let’s Aribo or Hagi have space inside too.

Hopefully we see more of the strikers just being strikers in the box and giving the defenders decisions to make.

Thought it was more of the 4312 we’ve seen a couple of times this season, either way it couldn’t have been worse than the first 20 minutes but the change definitely helped.

We done that in the second half as Aribo appeared on the right.

Though I dont think it was a 4-4-2 as such, was like a 4-2-4 / 4-2-2-2. With Lundstram and Davis holding.
