Official The Winter 2024/25 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

So one or two in. One has to be Cameron. Another and defender. Surely?
Just my own theory, but I don't see the value from Dundee's point of view by letting him come to us this window when we'll need to pay them Barron type money anyway if he comes in the summer regardless.

We'd need to pay in the region of a million quid to make it worth their while this window, and as it's not a priority position right now I don't see the value in that.

Yeah they will be pretty much guaranteed £600k regardless, so to make it worth their while we would have to be paying over that.

I guess it’s having the money to spend now rather than potentially having to wait another year to spend it like Aberdeen have.

Woolfenden might be another option. OOC in Summer unless they exercise their option.
Woolfenden and the Moroccan lad given we'll need at least two CH's would make a lot of sense on paper.

I'd have no qualms giving the PL player a decent enough signing on fee it the wages aren't as stupid as previous deals.
The Moroccan lad shouldn't need to be paid silly money either.

I thought I read around 1.5m for the Moroccan Cav, so yes, potentially 2 new CDs for maybe 2.5m.

Balogun must be likely to go & if we can get Propper out it is hopefully a less injury ravaged CD squad for a minimal cost ?

Only thing I can maybe think of is they'll score goals without Cameron.

They need defenders so could really invest there

Hjalmar Ekdal, 26, is about to be loaned out from Burnley in January. QPR, Stoke, Middlesbrough and Glasgow Rangers are in talks over a deal. Groningen, Empoli, Sampdoria and Brescia have also contacted about a loan.
Just back from injury but seems to be highly rated by Burnley fans going by the forums.

Came on as a sub today.

I'm sure Burnley would rather us or the Italian trio.

Could be credible rumour if he's been offered out as we are deffo looking hopefully

Rangers Review saying we have a 10% sell on clause for Malik Tillman.

"Tillman made his loan move from Bayern Munich to PSV Eindhoven permanent last summer in a £12 million deal, landing Rangers a reported £1.2 million windfall after the German giants had a change of heart about an agreed deal to allow the Ibrox club to sign him after his loan spell.

Rangers received the compensation after the Bundesliga club pulled out of the agreement and a further 10 per cent sell-on fee was included in the settlement.

Bayern have a buy-back agreement in place to re-sign Tillman for £35 million, which would entitle Rangers to a cool bonus of £3.5 million."

If that's true, it's bordering on bizarre but would be one of the best transfer deals we have been involved in.

Somehow.

It’s almost certainly not unusual. We had an option we could have taken up, Bayern had clauses that allowed them to effectively buy-out that option - or negotiated it in at some point.

Modern football is big business and the contracts and transactions are way more complex than the headlines ever suggest. Football fans are done a disservice by the tabloid-style journalism that has somehow stubbornly remained in place with regards football finance and contracts, despite the proliferating of modern media.

He seems to play well alongside Raskin, but struggles when paired with Barron.

He was outstanding in both the Spurs and celtic games, so he can definitely hack it against the better opposition, as long as he has a good partner alongside him.
When you're only playing with 2 out and out midfielders, then one of them cannot be of a much poorer level than the other.
Barron and Diomande just doesn't work at all. It only happens because we don't have a natural six to play if Raskin doesn't make the team for whatever reason.

I think Dio is a cracking player, although he still has to adapt a bit more to our whacky league.

I still think we may sign another midfielder (loan maybe) to rotate with Dio and Raskin.
They can't be expected to play every game.

I still think we need an incisive passer to play in a holding role; that will allow Raskin freedom to go and do what he does well, which is break up attacks, hunt the ball down and move it quickly when he wins it. It will also allow Diomande to do the role linking play, without having to be creative himself.

But I don’t think we’ll get it this window. Any funds, rightly, will be used to strengthen the weak centre of defence and potentially a striker (assuming Dessers leaves).

The most important midfielder to get is a rotation option for Raskin. We can rotate Barron in for Dio in league games. Even though they have different skill sets they both work well with Niko.

Getting cover for Nico is really vital for the rest of the season, otherwise we're going to burst the lad. Everyone is keen to see Rice, as am I, but we need experience in there too.

Raskin and Barron are too defensive together domestically.

We need a rotation option for Raskin as he’s not likely to get suspended and had previous injury issues.

I don’t think we will however and would rather play rice if Raskin is unavailable.

Not good enough for Burnley, I’m sorry then nowhere near good enough for Rangers.

We’d be taking him on to get him fit enough for them to sell in summer.

I’d rather develop our own players.

I agree that it's more defensive, but at least it does work as a partnership. The point is that Dio and Barron doesn't work because they both instinctively go after the game which leaves a huge hole behind them, which was very evident early in the season. So we need cover for Raskin.

It's frustrating that just as we finally got balance in the middle and some options up front we lost most of our defence, but we are where we are.

Type of signing we should be looking to make straight from Sweden. Not sure taking someone coming back from an injury to help with our injury crisis is a good idea though.
