I wonder if the plan is to have Lovelace and Curtis fill Matondos space. Can't rely on a perennially injured Cortes and out of position Baj/Ridvan to fill it.
In theory nice idea, but even then we’ve been playing guys like Hagi out of position

It’s £30k a week saved roughly, sign a left winger and get us back in balance that side of park.

Ideal world yes. How long till this mental thread starts linking us with Nicky Cadden or Finlay Robertson haha.

If Dowell, Lawrence and Matondo were all to leave in this window, and their spots (all three get some level of time on the pitch when fit) given to Rice, Lovelace and Curtis, it would give them a real chance.

However, I'd also be looking for Lovelace and Curtis to be signing new deals before we fully commit to giving them more opportunities. If they're set on leaving, we might want to focus on others for the longer term.

If we shift those three out we're looking at close to £80k p/w saving if reports are accurate.

Their short term replacements already here and could argue they improve the squad.

Hope it happens.

We must have saved an absolute shitload over the summer to now wage wise
I think it was forecast to be about 8m cut from the annual salary pot mate . People posted there was still a way to go too .

Which is where we are .

Personally i would be willing to cut three reasonably costly guys to get eg Sima back ( or a player of that type ) .

I feel we deserve to commit at least half of what is now cut but directors are writing the rules . We shall see .

Tbf, we don't have genuine pace in attack even with him at the club because he's never fit.

It's something we badly need from a regular contributor.

'Pace' is such an odd thing. If you're talking about an individuals ability to run the 100 metres then I get it. Cerny and Bajrami both have a decent turn of speed when needed. I'd much rather have guys who know how to drag players out of position and create spaces for others than a speed merchant though. Danilo and Hagi have made a big difference to us because they actively seek out spaces to play in and take up clever positions. It's a much more fluid side for it. When you see the likes of Dessers up against the lumps of St Johnstone and St Mirren it ends up being a bore fest as he just bounces off them.

Would that apply to Cerny?

Seems to score and contribute consistently although we may not be able to keep him - would you rather have Cerny or Sima?

Absolutely. Get that pace back left side and makes us more of a threat.

Ideal scenario is a 6 month loan to buy or someone sitting as a free agent right now and give them 6 months with a years option say.

Yes, you’d have to think it would be a loan as our board might not want to commit until they know Matondo, Davies & guys like that ARE off of our books forever OTC.

If bajrami,Cerny, Hagi, Danilo or igamane are in a foot race with a defender for a one v one then they are not winning.

Look at igamane last minute v hibs when he hit the post, he had to slow rocky down and beat him again.

If that’s sima in that position no one is catching him.

We lack that pace.

There’s needs a balance, if Cerny or Hagi were quick they wouldn’t be playing in Scotland. Those two would also benefit from a runner as they have excellent vision.

As long as he stays fit, someone down there will give us £2m in the summer no bother, In the right circumstances he can be highly effective.

Whether or not Frank lasts long enough to buy him is a different matter...

Glad to see the back of Matondo tbh, hopefully for good. Such a waste of money.

It would be nice if we could use his wages to bring someone else in but I guess that's unlikely unless they're on a free.
