They have signed James Mccarthy

Who does he replace in their midfield for a start, whos the usual 3, Mcgregor Soro and Turnbull?
think he'd replace Soro. Doubtless an upgrade if he's fit, but like Hart replacing Barkas, the bar is incredibly low.

Unsure where this injury prone suggestion is coming from. He missed 3 games last season through injury. He didn't get a huge number of games, but played around 40 times the season before for Crystal Palace.

I actually think, unfortunately, that's a decent signing for them.

2016/17 he played 13 games
2017/18 he played 6 games
2018/19 he played 1 game
2019/20 he played 35 games
20/21 he played 17 games

Davis has played more, 92 games for us, in the past 2 seasons.
McCarthy has managed more than 40 games once in the past 13 seasons.

His fitness will be atrocious like the rest of them

bring it on

their defence is still a shambles

It sjust shows they have literally no clue in the recruitment department its a total scatter gun effort just sign anyone and we will worry about it later. That will be easy £60k+ per week right there for the 2 of them

Well, we all knew it was going to happen sometime.

It really must be a stick-on bet that he'll be at the centre of absolute thuggery against our players when we met them.

CFC topping up their "victum" tank again.
And their anti-British bigot quota.

Another clear sign yet that their own manager hasn't got any say in most of their signings.

4 year deal for McCarthy - well that should keep their physios in a job for a while.

A decent enough player in his prime but absolutely done and this will fool nobody, not even their thick as muck fans.

Guess he is getting ntcham’s wages

I would imagine he will be earning a lot more than that.

Absolutely mental they have given him a 4yr contract though given his injury problems and the fact he is not far off 31 and looks well past his prime. They could have given him 2 with the option of another but obviously that 4 year deal was the only reason he signed.

The 4 year deal shows both just how skint/desperate they are to get players in. It’s clear they can’t afford the higher salary so instead they’re offering injury prone pro’s job security.

66 games in five seasons. 30 years old. Dora s type signing. Will improve the team if he stays fit. As will Hart. Let’s be honest with Bain an Barkas any keeper will be better.

Is that the super signing the mhob were screaming for?

They won't be fooled by this one even though he's one of them.

Absolutely no direction at all and shows Ange hasn't got a say in anything. 4 year deal

Bring on 56
AH

They've played the sign an roi player card.

Times are difficult I see.

Fukushima getting asked to sell jerseys

Token mentally challenged to settle the slabbering republicans

The reason he's got a 4 year contract is that he will be on a fraction of what he earned previously but has negotiated a 4 year deal instead.

Options for him will have been limited, scum wouldn't pay what he wants so have offered a longer term contract on less money. Happens all the time but its a strategy you can understand if there is genuine longevity in the player

he'll be on the thick end of 20k a week and milking them dry for the next 4 years. If he gets crocked again they are fucked

He’ll likely do well for them.

But it’s hardly the brave new dawn that we were told was coming with the appointment of the Australian. Same old, same old…
