This is the best preseason we've had in years

Sound strange? With all the upheaval maybe but I think the sweeping changes are exactly what was needed and change of this magnitude can only happen once.

We have a Manager who gets it, who I believe, and I questioned his appointment, understands what's required now and going forward.

The concerns around signings have been blown away with the rapidity of the last two weeks and the promise of more to come.

Our players look sharp and engaged in the training - the new blood and departures may have finally broken the collective malaise which had plagued us for so long. Even Tav looks reborn.

From arguably our worst modern season performance to an open road with sky limits.

Its early days but I'm excited, optimistic and sure this is going to be a very special time.
We are all in every year with new players then let down. The proof will be on the park in the first 7 or 8 competitive games so let's see how it goes.

Nothing wrong with being positive and at least we seem to be moving forward with giving the squad an overdue overhaul but we haven't even played a competitive game yet.
It's going to take a few months to have a better idea where we are at as a squad and how effective the manager's style of football is.

Could have done with not having such a big qualifier so early in the summer to be honest and Panathinaikos will have had 4 pre season games(Metalist,Schalke,Braga and Westerlo)under their belt before they play us with a more settled squad so it's going to be a tough tie but hopefully we can hit the ground running as that kind of positive result will lift everyone.

Aye , sounds strange since we’ve not even kicked a ball in anger .

We haven’t kicked a ball yet. But yes, I’m optimistic. I also think we need the modernising that will come with the new ownership and “coach”. We all love some Birkenstocks these days. Time for the lentil soup bowling club mentality to go.

We’ve literally only done shuttle runs and lost a behind closed doors game to TNS. Not sure how any players could look re-born based on that :))

There’s plenty positivity with the moves in the transfer window. and we also look to have a proper structure in place, but it’s impossible to know what we are like as a football team yet.

You are mentally ill

I'll make judgement after most of our business is done and the season has started. Far too early to assume everything is going to be brilliant.

I think at the very least we should get fully behind the new set up and be quietly optimistic. Give the boys time to gel and get used to what’s being asked.
Drop all negativity completely. It does nothing to help.
Everybody wants us firing and doing well and a buzzing Rangers support adds so much. Too early of course for that level of support to manifest but start positive and it’ll build.

Agreed.

I’ve seen too many good pre-seasons turn into poor seasons and vice-versa.

I want to get through the first 4 league matches and whatever we face in Europe over the period until end of August and take it from there.
A bad start in the league can be catastrophic for your season in Scotland, we really don’t have time to settle into the players understanding what the manager wants of them IMO - we need to hit this running and get point on the board.

I want to see physical intensity, I want to see players knowing their options for a pass, I want to see the system flex to the circumstances in a match.
I’ll take playing “badly” but winning initially.
The squad needs to take a lot on board initially, and the manager does seem to expect a lot of them, and I’m all for that but it takes time to turn that into consistent football.

I've made a few impatient, negative & maybe even quite scathing posts in the last couple of weeks - mostly because I thought we were wasting time

Although there's still a long way to go & nothing so far is going to guarantee success - I will admit things look better than they did last week

Hope we continue in the same vein & by the sounds of it we seem to be on the right track

I really don’t want so seem negative but there is absolutely no way of knowing anything at this stage. We have signed a few players who might be good or might be rubbish and have a manager that interviews well. Pretty much the same as every other pre season the last few years.

Let’s see how we are travelling at Xmas time.

Won't judge much on pre-season but I already know we're going to be a lot closer this year in any case.

Rodgers' thrid season is always the worst at any club he's been at. He's good at coaching teams he inherits, but as soon as he starts to try and put his own stamp on a team, it goes downhill. Happened with Liverpool, happened with the Gypsies first time round, happened at Leicester and is now happening again that he's losing all of fat Aussie pavement-starer's players.

If we have a good start, we could well pull away this time. Clement did this when he came in but we lost our way in April. Otherwise we were looking good for another leauge title. Peolpe are forgetting how we led the league for most of that season and how close we were to winning it. The Tramps only won it by a few points in the end.

Last season was a disaster and was obvious from pre-season with all the stadium works farce.

Martin will need time, but I think he'll have a Warburton season like we had in 2015.

Rodgers is done. He's leaving at the end of the season and the powers at Tramp Towers don't want to spend money on players he wants as he's not going to be there beyond the season and they know he's bad with money. Expect them to have an awful window with their fans up in arms about how stingy they are. Rodgers will make a few choice comments about the board and the bad blood will set in and it will be a very unpleasant season for them. Mark my words.

Do you remember a similar thread before the "Beale season?" I certainly do.
Some people simply refuse to learn.
And that stands whether we have a great season or a disastrous one.
It's feeling very similar now to the Beale preseason.
Every signing heralded as a winner etc.
Reality is we don't know and can only guage after the qualifiers and first round of league fixtures where we are.
I did laugh at Tav looking reborn in training. Kudos to the OP, clearly that's tongue in cheek.

Yes. If by strange you mean absolutely bat shit mental.

Who knows. We’ve got a coach that hardly anyone wanted, a loan player, a Dundee player and 3 guys from the English lower leagues. One of whom Peterborough fans couldn’t wait to see the back of. Fucking Peterborough.

Let’s just wait and see how it all comes together before going overboard eh?

Nothing wrong with optimism.I was like everyone else I’ve spoken to.Underwhelmed with The managers appointment. But maybe that’s been a good thing.Quietly optimistic as the days go by that at last we are being run from top to bottom in a professional manner.
Of course I want it all in the first season, but I’m realistic enough(and old enough) to have “learned “ that it might not be instant.
I’m willing to let our new owners and Manager the time to build something special.

Christ, pre season world champs.
Our support is mental.
Was a guy at one of the events about 4 games after clement joined, thanking him for giving him his club back. People just like to jump on two-footed.

I was hoping the new owners may have quelled the hysteria for five seconds.

Impossible to tell, but the signings so far make sense - something that can't be said of the last four or five years - and there is some semblance of a plan behind the scenes.

Christ, not sure how you guage running around cones but I hope you're right.
Hopefully see some early signs of the intensity we will play at next Season, not expecting a great performance or even a good one today but show us signs of what we can expect
A wins a win :))

There are reasons for optimism, but we’ve heard this before.

We’ll only know if it’s been a good window if we are holding the league trophy in May.
