The flare was about 2 feet from the touch line, of course he knew what he was doing :D An absolute embarrassment that Dundee went along with that excuse. Strachan obviously has them sharing PR policy with Celtic. Admit nothing, apologise for nothing, never back down.

How the SFA/SPL have not acted is another disgrace but not unsurprising from them given he’s technically a Bheast FC player on loan at Dundee

As a nation, we have a lot to be embarrassed about in period of the SNP's time ruling our devolved parliament.

Whilst the topic raise here is by no means as important as the big issues facing our country, nevertheless, those in power need to be taken to task at every opportunity.

As the video clearly shows, the subject footballer looked into the crowd before, with significant effort, kicking a burning incendiary into that same crowd. This could have resulted in life changing injury to a person/persons.

Neither the SFA, the governing body of Scottish football, nor the SPFL (it was a League Cup fixture) have responded. They have recently responded to other, lesser, non-life threatening issues very quickly - Covid/staffing is not an excuse.

This is a disgrace and a gross embarrassment to Scotland and the Minister for Public Health/Women's Health/Sport or the FM needs to take action!

All you read on other social media sites are complaints about St Johnstone fans throwing the flares and the disgusting chants aimed at Griffiths. Always the victim, regardless of who they represent.

They probably needed sellics permission as he's their player, so that was never happening.

I am still trying to work out how anyone thinks he can get away with this obvious lie.

This guy is a professional footballer, he knows how to kick - he is actually a dead ball specialist. For him to imply he misjudged the power of his kick is outrageous. He clearly knows what he is doing, he did it deliberately and he needs to take the consequences.

For Dundee to back that comment up in their official statement is extraordinary.

There is part of me that thinks Thumb never said anything of the sort and someone at Dundee has taken it upon themselves to speak on his behalf.

POLICE have charged Leigh Griffiths with "culpable and reckless conduct" in relation to the incident which saw him kick a smoke bomb back into an area housing St Johnstone fans at Dens Park in midweek.

The Dundee star - on-loan from Celtic - admitted kicking the firework away during the Betfred Cup match as he issued an apology yesterday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Scottish Sun "Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been charged in relation to culpable and reckless conduct, following an incident at Dens Park, Dundee, on Wednesday, 22 September.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Griffiths said: “It was regrettable that the pyrotechnic ended up back in the stand as my intention was just to remove it from the pitch.

“Having just lost a goal I was eager to get the match restarted as quickly as possible and I would like to apologise for any distress caused by this action.”

The Dundee statement read: "Dundee Football Club and Leigh Griffiths would like to address a regrettable incident which occurred during last night’s Premier Sports Cup tie with St. Johnstone at the Kilmac Stadium.

"Following the opening goal a smoke generator, amongst other items, was thrown onto the park by the visiting supporters.
 
Every ground he plays at he will be getting called a Paedo, he's a horrible human being, and once his career is finally over I genuinely look forward to "fallen on hard times" article which will come in due course.

Why are people wanting him not to play?

We should just chant pedo at him for 90 mins, if he doesn't lose the plot (again), then his mind will clearly be fucked and he won't be able to concentrate as much and easy to take advantage of his mistakes.

Play all you want pedo.
 
Dundee won't have the balls to play him tomorrow.He would be the first player to actually retire during a match.
Although on the other hand this could be his chance to play his victim card again
