Thursday the biggest game since when?

Got to be Seville. Didn't think we would find ourselves back in this position as quick as we have.
Remember doing the stadium tour in the summer. Tour guide old guy was adamant he wouldn't see us anywhere near a final again for years and years, if not again in his lifetime.

Probably contradicting myself now mate, but it’s exactly that reason that I’m confident about getting a result this Thursday.

Tbf, I can't imagine many people thought we would be close to a European final again.

Could probably say it's the biggest since any of the champs lge games but I can understand why they'd be overlooked given how much of a disaster that campaign was. So this Thurs is the biggest since the 2022 final. Surely.
I would say so

After we lost to Eintracht, my glass-half-full hope was we’d absorb the experience and use it as a turning point — that we’d make a habit of deep runs in this tournament, build it into our DNA, and become a team no one wants to face over two legs. You see how other clubs have done it over the years.

Thursday will be our biggest test yet, but getting to another semi-final would be such a massive achievement.

It's a huge night.

Since the final 2022.

It feels different this time. I really did feel we were going to go all the way after the Dortmund away game 22

It feels like we are really stumbling over each game since the last 16 and now the last 8. It feels a lot more like 08 than 22 this time round.

Definitely Seville; however, I'd say in 2022, there was a general belief that we were going to get to the final, and if we did, everyone had full confidence there was every chance we could win it. I remember walking out of the game in Leipzig, being fully confident we would beat them at Ibrox and make the final.

This time just feels like you have no idea what to think. We do seem to turn up in Europe, though, and with how unpredictable we can be, there is no reason we can't do it.

Thing is though, if we do get through this round, we've got another massive task with whichever team awaits in the semi. Lyon or Man U will be almost as hard as Bilbao IMO.

There were a couple of favourable ties in 08 and 22

Yeah, I have to agree, although I'd much prefer Man U over Lyon.

It's crazy when you consider 08 and 22 included Champions League dropouts, albeit we were one ourselves in 08.

You wouldn’t know there’s such a huge game in the Scottish msm. Was up the gym after work and STV News was on the screens - it was all about Rodgers and why the scum should keep him. A Scottish club 2 days before a European quarter final never got a mention.

Seville, but on a wider point, that run from Dortmund to the final I felt adamant we would blow everyone away. This time round is different, honestly can’t get a handle on if we’re headed to 120minutes and penalties, or going to scud them, or going to get a scudding.

We aren’t yet mate, and if anything we are further away than we were this time last week.

I have no idea why people think we have a 50/50 chance here - more like 80/20 in Bilbaos favour sadly

I think most are the same mate and its probably why I think Thursday is going to be a step to far for this current team.

Weirdly last years team would have been a better chance

Bedtime ya party pooper

It’s actually the 3-3 game with scum.
Let’s not re-write history because we didn’t win.
We all felt going into that game if we had won we would have went onto win the league and we probably would have.
Which would have granted us champions league entry and that comes with it .

I think it's probably the scum game as well. This is the biggest game of the season since the last biggest game of the season which would've been the 3-3 game.

In terms of magnitude and size of the actual game itself, it's the biggest of its kind since Seville.

How do you work that one out?

We have been crap at home this season.

We have done well (for the most part) playing away in Europe (see Fenerbahce, Nice, Okympiakos, a late defeat to Man Utd).

We drew 0-0 with Bilbao playing with 10 men for 80 minutes.

Bilbao have scored 9 goals in their last 9 games, with 3x 0-0 draws in their last 4 games.

Inaki Williams (arguably their best player) could potentially miss the game with an injury)

I'm not sure where you get your 80-20 figure from? I'd say they are probably favourites to go through, but more like 60-40 at a push.

No idea how you can say 80/20 when i dont think ive seen anyone say similar so lets hear why.

Guessing people have been paying attention to our away form in Europe for a decent time now.

Since we lost in Cyprus in October 2023 our away for is :

Betis - Win
Benfica - Draw
Kiev - Draw
Malmo - Win
Olympiakos - Draw
Nice - Win
Man Utd - Defeat (heartbreaker)
Fenerbahche - Win

So can you not see why people might think we have a decent chance of continuing this run of form?

I know we're not. It's just that stage of the competition where you start to think it's possible.

I didn't think Bilbao were great last week. Not much better than anything else we've faced so far.
