Official Today's football - Results, updates, goals, discussion - Junior Cup 1st Round scores added

who have they played thats top six. two teams just promoted and a team that finished 7th last season and playing with ten man thanks to their 12th man

and we've played Livi and Dundee Utd so far and not looked too hot - so what's the point?

All I keep reading is "aye but Celtic are daein this, then that happened in the game for them to win it" - it doesn't matter, the fact is they are putting teams to bed early on since the Hearts game, we are not.

weve played two games mate

just checked their fixtures, they play hearts twice at home before they play them in Edinburgh in January

This guy has them playing the way we should be playing against the spl teams at Ibrox.
All out attack from the first whistle with high intensity.
They're wrapping games up by half time.
We come out and patiently pass it about feeling our way into the game. before we know it we are chasing the game.

They were like this under Lennon too.
Especially at the start of last season.

The problem is that it can be difficult to argue with our system after a 102 point season. A win is a win, after all.

Even last season they still won 22 out of 38 games and only lost two matches against the other SPL sides. Even in what was an absolutely dreadful season for them only St Mirren and Ross County managed to beat them and both of those came when the league was pretty much done.

They will win most weeks. When they drop points it will most likely be away from home.

Its the same for us. I think the advantage of our system is that it cut down on daft dropped points. We just haven't got off to a good start.

They also have a much weaker squad. A few injuries to their key players and theyre a bit fooked. Hopefully.

No doubt the Mhanks are doing well, but when Keevins admits the Power red was poor, Christie could have been sent off for worse and St Mirren had a goal wrongfully chopped off, things are going really well.

Im here for the panic by certain posters over Celtic beating a bottom 6 team who are down to 10 men and their manager in the house eating super noodles

That's way too much perspective:)

Last season celtic came out the traps flying.. we were on the same points when we met at parkhead.. nothing has changed they have play a awful st midden team today and the amount of crying so called rangers fans is incredible..Next week will take care of itself.. but wexwill win tomorrow.

Don’t think it’s being a panty wetter to suggest they are doing well at present. They will score a lot of goals with that team and cover up their poor defence. It’s going to be a tough game next week.
They started well last season.. prob just as good

They should be winning most of their games at home tbf, just like we should and probably will. Especially when teams sit back from minute 1 like St Mirren

They beat Livingston 6-0 last season in April with Kennedy in charge.

They’re playing well but this shouldn’t phase us. It’s the fact we thought it would be a walk in the park this season

Yes they are playing well, but the reality is we’re a team that can match them in every department. They come to Ibrox and play that expansive football we’ll carve them open just like AZ did on Wednesday, only difference being we will punish them!

We're going g to the exact same to these teams

Next week will tell the tale and I just don't see their defence being able to keep us out

We just need their new manager to believe this 'throw the kitchen sink for 60 mins tactic with the same 11' is going to be enough for them over the season. I think he will get a wake up call once the weather changes and all his happy tippy tappy players start not turning up on freezing cold Wednesday nights in Dingwall with the freezing rain coming at them horizontally. Whereas our squad have done it and worn the t-shirt. We just need a wee run of results and get the fitness back up to last year's levels and most teams won't be able to live with us.

Read a wee bit of BBC website. Alnwick not clever at 1st and 3rd goals, Celtic defence struggling with high balls (I didn't read beyond 3rd goal).
It would seem that next week we should concede a 3 0 rather than getting thrashed.

Righty-oh. That's the first post in the thread updated with (most of) the full time scores.

Took a while getting the Junior Cup ones.

Well done Kirkintilloch Rob Roy on beating the scum.

Also Cumbernauld United deserve applause for dumping Kilbirnie Ladeside who have just appointed this lot who were in charge of Greenock - Thomas Molloy, Shaun Dillon, and Owen Archdeacon.

Proxy Mick would've had them at Alloa if he didn't have to interrupt his sectarian appointment policy by appointing a former Ranger who acts like a tim.

Carluke won, thank God, which means Talbot go there and not Sunnybank :D

I agree with this. Football, as with most sports, it’s about confidence. If you go and take 2 early goals from some average team, they will crumble and then it’s easy to score 5 or 6.

If you are 0-0 at half time they gain confidence and defend for their lives.

Too often we are playing a bang average team and we counter attack with Kent, Morelos etc and we hit the halfway line and stop, pass it to Kamara, who passes it to Helander, the opposition get back and reset and we start from the back. It’s infuriating.

99 times out of 100 if we get an early goal we win the game.
I hate the way we start so slow.
Slow build up, slow to take or throw ons and goal kicks, slow to go get the corner in.
Always giving the opposition time to organise.

Helps when the opposition goalkeeper lets in goals, linesman rules out a goal which is 3 yards onside, opposition midfielders dont mark Turnbull, Collum doesn't book Christie for similar challenge to Power. We will find out how good they are after their next two games.

Yup. It’s brutal to watch. It’s like a slow, sh!t version of the Barcelona tikka takka nonsense.

This is Scottish football. Just get the ball moving quickly and overwhelm the opposition.

Think back to the 90s when you’d have laudrup, Hateley, McCoist bombing forward before the opposition had time to organise. There wouldn’t be any thought or going “wait a minute, let’s get it back to Gough so he can pass it to Robertson and then across to Stevens etc. just got for the throat.

We might not have players now that are as good as that but they’re more than capable of tearing the defences of Scottish teams apart.

Im on a rant now. Haha. If you’re reading Stevie, you know it makes sense. ;-)

Anyone else notice our old friends Brechin haven't won in last three. Beaten at home by Buckie in cup and by Fraserburgh in league and a draw with Rothes at home. Looks like the better Highland league clubs might just have their measure.

A good rant can bring you great peace of mind. You rant if you want to good sir.

Cracking goal by Lyon makes it 3-1 for them against Clermont. Great move. Half-time now.

Cologne have come back to 2-2 at Bayern after being 2-0 down. About half an hour left. Some good goals.

Arteta imo will be first to be sacked in the Premier League.

City up next for them as well, then they have a decent few games but they just seem so disjointed.

Just in the door to see Bale give Madrid lead away at Levante

This today’s thread? B-D :shh:

2-1 Levante

Madrid should’ve been out of sight first half :shh:
