Tom Lawrence - A new injury sustained in training. “Out until at least after the World Cup”

Always our top performers get long term injuries. Last season the last couple of months was Alfredo. Now Tom had started the season as a top performer and out for months. Raging.

Cool.
Who said conspiracy?
I am saying we ran Alfredo into the ground and injured him, then passed the buck onto Colombia.

I’m also saying our injury record in the last 18 months is abysmal.
You're hinting that Gio is lying its a new injury, aren't you?

Our medical department needs looked at or we need to stop this playing it down weeks of silence then oh btw guys said player is out for months...does them no favours.

Yip, the ones defending the..

Have you never considered the fact that it may not just be years of bad luck when it comes to our endless injury list and the length of time it take for a full recovery?
Agreed.

We obviously, every single time we hire a medical team, deliberately hire doctors and physios who hate us and want to sabotage our season. It's the only reason why this can be happening under multiple different medical teams. Subterfuge from the top down.

I know it's probably not their fault but I'd be happy if we cleaned house in our medical department and brought in some new faces.

This happens too often.

Obviously dont follow other players injuries like we do with our own but cant see many have the amount of "setbacks" as we have

The only saving grace is that he’ll get the duration of the World Cup to recover.

We’ve genuinely no luck whatsoever.

With our reticence to give injury details, that “at least until” doesnt fill me with confidence that he’ll be recovering during it tbh.

You're a proper crank mate. So the club, the player, and the Colombian national team are all in on a deflect and deny conspiracy to save the manager from the wrath of the fans? Right you are.

So that’s helander , souttar and Lawrence picked up serious injuries since the start of pre season alongside hagi . We really are gonna be glad of this 6 week break time the World Cup starts . Might end up saving our season

Helander was already injured was he not? Souttar also came with his existing injury according to Gio.

Alex Lowry will come to the fore.

As soon as lowry is back fit and ready, he should 100% be straight into the first team squad and given minutes wherever possible. No passing about with the b team for 5 or 6 weeks first, the boy has proven he's too good for that level and just puts hkm at more unnecessary risk against lower league hammer throwers who can't handle a young lad giving them the run around. With the injuries piling up, we need to give lowry every chance to make the impact on the first 11 that we all hope he can.

Gutted about Lawrence btw. Let's hope January sees him ready to resume as he was really starting to look the part.

Not even surprised by this news! He shouldn't have been on the pitch to be injured in the first place.

OK, we didn’t run him into the ground then?
I must’ve imagined the successive games he came off with ice on his thigh after playing on bogs.

Gio has had little luck on the injury front - significant players missing consistently.
He chose to play him for 90 mins when the game was dead and buried. He actually put him as the main striker. He had Sakala on the bench who could have went up top.
He done the same with Morelos last season. He was carrying an injury and he continued to play him 90 mins. Think it was St J away when you could clearly see he was miles off the pace. No shock that he was injured the following week or so.

Alex Lowry posted his 'boots back on' pic on Instagram on 21st September.

Perhaps he's not too far away from a come-back two weeks on. Great opportunity for the likes of him and Tillman (one door closes and another one opens so I'm keeping positive).

Absolutely gutting for us as he was coming onto a game but on a personal level he must be gutted missing out on Champions league football and the world cup with Wales

Lawrence was a robust player before he joined us. Was happy that Wilson finally signed a player with a good injury record.

He comes to us and turns into a crock.

There is a serious issue with the medical department at our club. They have to be doing something wrong - it’s too regular of an occurrence.

I’ll flip it, do you think our injury updates in the past 18 months have told us anything of use or have been anywhere near accurate?
Haha. What do you mean told us anything? If you expect a blow by blow update of a players medical record and recovery you're going to be disappointed. It's not something the support need to know.

What specific updates is it you're actually referring to?

High chances of set backs with calf muscle injuries we will be lucky to see him fully fit again this season

Same with Hagi when you are out for that long it takes a whilst to get up to speed even if you can, Ryan Jack is a prime example, shadow of the player he was. Long term injuries not many players come back the same.

You’re doing a Sterling job defending our clubs shit record in short term injuries which turn out to be long term, what we up to now, 5/6 players?

Kudos to you
"defending" :D

We're the only club in world football who picks up injuries. It's shameful isn't it?

What the %^*& do our medical staff do to keep making injuries worse?! Fucking hell.
They've not made his injury worse though, have they? Reads very much like he was over his original injury and sustained a new injury when back in training. If anything, question the training methods in this instance. Also, people know that virtually every medium / long term injury is outsourced to specialists in the field of that particular injury and it's they who decide what the treatment and recovery programme should be? I assume they're also involved in monitoring that recovery. We're not short of sticks to beat the club with, so there's really no need to go hunting for more.

Our medical department needs looked at or we need to stop this playing it down weeks of silence then oh btw guys said player is out for months...does them no favours.

Jeezo, some of the things you read on here!!

You have zero idea how the injury occurred or that of any other player if it’s not during a game - to say the medical department needs looked at is ridiculous.

Why aren’t you answering the question?

For years football fans have been told about injuries. Not a “blow by blow” as you know fine well no one expects that. So stop trying to be a smart arse.
Told what the injury is, that’s not new it’s happened for years.
Told a fairly accurate timescale, that’s not new it’s happened for years.

Fs mate look through this thread alone and you’ll see references to “mystery injuries” from other people. I’m not alone in this thinking.

I know it's crap luck and I know we're coming off a 4-0 win at Hearts, but our squad overall is so weak. It's only taken the loss of one player to seriously limit our attacking threat. It frustrates the hell out of me that we didn't go and strengthen before the window closes.

who said we are “only club who picks up injuries”, away with the hyperbole

If you can’t see we have a number of players who are out long term after the club have said “a few weeks” is their timeline then that’s cool
