Utrecht Gaffer On Sam Lammers 3 Goals in Last 3 League Games

In just 11 League games, the big fella has 4 goals and 3 assists. Fee must be rising...

Utrecht boss Ron Jans has revealed it all depends on Rangers whether they can turn Sam Lammers' loan move into a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old has now scored in his last three games in a row for Utrecht and already has two more goals with his loan club in 11 games than the two he managed at Rangers in 31 appearances.

It's been reported that Rangers would ask for around £2.5 million for the Eredivisie club to turn the loan into a permanent one after Rangers spent £3.5 million to land him from Atalanta, following three previous loan spells away from the Italian club.

Utrecht would love to sign Lammers, but manager Jans has revealed the move is not yet a foregone conclusion.

He pointed out: "We are very happy with Sam. He plays good football and he is a great guy.
"If he would like to stay longer, we will do everything we can.

"However, there are factors that you cannot control...Rangers and money."

And Lammers - who complained last week that he was never allowed to play in his preferred role as a striker at Rangers - has indicated that he would relish the move.

He said: "I feel good at the club." After a bad start this season we have recovered well. We want to reach European football, which is where we belong as Utrecht. That would really be a great achievement if you looked at where we came from.

"There have been no discussions yet, but I am having a good time, so they will be held."

Glad to see him doing well - just not cut out for us.

I think he got as many opportunities as a first team player but failed miserably with us.

Not sure what it was, but he was shooting blanks most of the time.

Few great goals but just not enough for him to justify a first team jersey or even a contract.

Great he is doing well.

Still not a guy i would be prepared to play hard ball with over a fee. Get him off our wage bill for a reasonable fee and we can both move on.

Try and forget about it.

You could see that technically he had something - i just think pressure to win every game,Ibrox etc, was too much for him.

Imagine he buried that header against them.
Oh how different his time here could have went.

Don't wish him any ill fortune but I don't want to see him back at Ibrox again, regardless of how he's playing for Utrecht. That ship has well and truly sailed for me.

Unfortunately they will know they can land him for not a lot. We need him gone and hardball isn't going to be part of that discussion.

What header? Only chance I can remember him having against them is when he rounded Hart.

Only header I can remember is the one at Pittodrie.

Glad he’s doing well. For some the pressure cooker of Rangers is just too much, happened to plenty before & will happen plenty after, hopefully not for the same kinda money right enough. Can only wish him the best.

Imagine playing a player in their normal position & seeing good performances

Absolutely no idea what MB was trying with him.

All the best to Lammers & hopefully we get a decent fee for him.
To be fair Clement had a shot with him as well and could have also played him as a striker. Both gaffers didn’t seem to fancy him there and toward the end of his time Clement didn’t fancy him at all. It’s not worked out, he moves on.

Not a defence if Beale who isn’t even half the manager Clement is.

If you're going to try & turn a player's career around, you have to put them in the ideal conditions to get their confidence back (play a striker as a striker).

He didn't have a chance to make it with us, because he was playing as a right-sided attacking midfielder, like he was Joe Aribo, which he obviously isn't.

Even if PC moved him up-front, it wouldn't have mattered, the confidence was already gone. Sh*tshow management from Beale.

Could be doing with him this weekend.
For what? He scores 4 goals for Utrecht and suddenly he's a player again?

No harm to the guy, wish him all the best but he's never a Rangers player in a million years.

We've got a manager that’s managed to drag this squad back into a title race. He's got the best from underperfoming players, turned guys like Sterling into key squad members and even got a tune out of Dessers. Even so, one of the first things he done was ship Lammers out at the first opportunity.

One of the poorest signings we've made in years. For the money spent, we got more out of a Mexican alcoholic.

Was that Aberdeen when the ball gets crossed in right at the death and he headers it straight at the keeper when anywhere else goes in? Could have sworn it was v them. I may be wrong.

Good news for all of us.

Let’s get the deal done early and move forward.

Hopefully don’t see him during pre season. Miles off what’s required and not even remotely suited to our style.

Good luck to him, and hopefully we can recoup some of the fee we wasted. You really couldn't blame him if he didn't want to step foot in Ibrox ever again.

Close control was ok but just don’t think he was physical enough to do it here. Would happily sell.

People seem to blame most of his failings on wrong positioning.

Sorry but playing in another position doesn't mean you all of a sudden can't do the basics anymore.
Glad to see he's doing well but I can't wait to get him out, terrible player.

Felt sorry for him at times, looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Hope he does well, and maybe we just weren't the club for him.

Seems similar to Cedric Itten in that there's obviously something to him but he's simply not suited to Rangers or Scottish football.

Glad he's doing well, that's what you need on this kind of loan deal. Loan club very happy and want to keep him, see if we can make a move happen. Very much one where we just need to take a bit of a loss on the chin sadly.

Exactly my thought. Scoring 4 goals for utrecht playing up top doesn't make him a clinical striker now. I wish him well, but I don't want him anywhere near Ibrox next year. Take some kind of transfer fee for him and forget about him. He was a awful signing!!

You would think part of the scouting and analysis roles would be to determine if a certain player would be suited to the domestic game before declaring an interest. I know it's not the easiest in some leagues, I understand that but there could be some way of measuring such as derby games etc. We seem to sign a good few that don't settle here but do alright elsewhere.

Clement never played him there either
