Vardy for Rangers tipped by La Republica

You could argue that not living a professional lifestyle and access to facilities is more damaging in the longrun, than living life as a semi pro playing the same amount of games at a non league level
Yes, maybe — but it could be a factor in why he’s still going strong, even if he’s probably no longer at the level required to play in the Premier League.

Bulk of our support want us to sell Dessers and cash in on Igamane …. If this happens and we bring younger players in then this makes sense. Ffs up here he’s got 2 seasons in him worth 20/25 goals a season. Seen him first hand and he’s more than worth a punt if figures work.

So Dessers level?!!
As in goal tally.

JK.

Even though it is true.

Won’t need the same number of chances to reach that total and I ain’t dissing Dessers by any means. He’s not Defoe but he’d rattle plenty up here

Funny you mention Defoe.
I actually thought of him when Vardy's name popped up, as they both are/were in their later years with nothing to prove.

I totally agree with you for what it is worth.

Dessers often requires 4 chances to bag a goal, whereas the Defoe's will more often than not bury 2 out of 3 chances.

It is a question of hunting down the filth in the league and every advantage counts for us.

I cannot see any sense in this
In the sense that goals scored would that be sense or non-sense BB?

I’ve just listened to TII pod and JB said he has seen him a fair amount last season and is sure he still has it . That’s good enough for me to say he should be under consideration.

Weir and Gough are examples of fitness fanatics / auld skool football heads.

Vardy and De Jong linked but if domestic title (surely) our #1 target, would have preferred Shankland.

But WTF do I know …

Would love to see Vardy up here. I know he’s getting on in years but it’s like saying you don’t want Djokovic in your tennis team. If he gets the chances he will put them away.

I think you need to be in your 40s or older to be fair.

When we had Football Italia on Channel 4 back in the 90s, James Richardson would give us a round-up of the weeks news from the Italian papers.
La Republica and Corriere Dello Sport were his usual go-to outlets.
Not to divert proceedings, but James Richardson's finest moment came on Saturday morning's Gazetta.

In his review of the Italian press, behind a giant gelato, he said that Celtic were interested in a Roma player, who was known as Tarzan.

He then said, wait for it, that if the player in question joined them, he'd be known as "Tarzan of the Papes".

As the the sole Football Italia enthusiast of the supporters club, I rushed to inform them of this wonderful comment.

I was met by indifference, which is pretty much where I've been ever since when talking about Serie A.

They're loss, not mine.
:)

There’s a risk that Vardy could be an Ian Wright to the poets kind of signing.

There’s also the chance he tears it up and scores for fun.

I’d be up for taking the punt

Every dressing room needs a bit of a maverick, if we can sign one that’s been there and won an EPL, why not.
I just don’t see how he fits the model Martin is trying to build. Maybe they are mates and Vardy thinks highly of him a coach? No idea.
Defoe made a lot of sense for a lot of reasons, I’m not sure Vardy does.

As it stands we have Igamane, Dessers and Danilo and you'd imagine one of them has to go for us to consider Vardy

I'd like us to sign Turgeman as well

There is absolutely pros and cons to Vardy, I think he'd do well up here and score plenty, fitness not an issue but I wouldn't be paying him silly money and giving him gaurnateed starts because nobody should be guaranteed games they need to work for it

For me it all depends how much it's going to cost us

The cost shouldn’t concern us now.

Not saying we should be chucking cash all over but in terms of thinking about it. If the new owners tbink it’s a goer, then let’s go

Every player can't be a prospect or project, I understand our overall philosophy but a sprinkling of older seasoned pros can only help the overall squad assuming their attitude and wage demands are acceptable. At 38 right enough he would be at the upper end of that scale

Given his recent Injury history, his age and huge salary I'd offer him a pay as you play deal which he'd never agree to.
So it's a no from this bear.

Out of interest, have we ever went ahead with such a contract and we’ve reaped the benefits?

This type of deal seems to be brought up nearly ever summer.

I mean no player anywhere signs a pay as you play deal, it doesn't exist, but what recent injury history do you mean? He looks to have been available the whole of last season and played in just about every game for Leicester.

I would be keeping the guaranteed 20 plus per season dessers
This is where we differ slightly. I want to win things. I'm not sure we will with Dessers and that guaranteed twenty goals a season.

If someone had said to me twenty years ago that I'd be on here having this sort of conversation about a striker I'd have scoffed at the notion. But here we are and that's what I'm doing.

However, in the end up I don't suppose it matters what you or I think. It'll play out one way or another. He'll stay or go and there's nothing you or I can do about it.

It's not as much pay as you play but there are options there, contracts with a low base salary and higher appearance fees, or like Hagi recently where you hit so many appearances your wage goes up. Just depends on how much faith a guy has in himself or if he is prepared to take the gamble. Vardy should be sorted financially, would he do it for a chance to win things and play European football at this time in his career ?

If true, and this goes for any striker coming in for the Panathinaikos match, has to be this week to get this integrated with the squad down south and also to get them fit. Vardy, while being a fit guy, hasn’t started any form of pre season yet other than the basics.

Goes for anyone I guess. But we have to move asap. And going by Martins post match yesterday, we are.
