Boyd was a McLeish signing .
Good team.
I was looking for a way to get Naismith or Negri in.
Unfortunately, you’ve fecked me by adding in Miller!
Back to the drawing board.

After careful consideration, including a change or two after reading other teams, I’m going for.

Goram
Porrini, Gough (Cuellar) Amoruso, Robertson.
Steven (Davis) Ferguson, Gascoigne.
Naismith, Hateley (Jelavic) Laudrup

There were a couple of toss-ups with my final choice.
Davis or Steven was one.
Miller or Jelavic another.

Edit: players in brackets replace resignings if these guys are disqualified.

He doesn't get in before Amo or Cuellar

Speaking quality wise as a player, maybe. But it said signings, which admittedly can be hard to quantify/define. But, Weir was free and made everyone next to him a far superior player, Carlos Cuellar included.
Cuellar, Bougherra and even Danny Wilson had the Rangers careers they did, due to Weir's influence.

Point taken pal

He probably had a bigger influence on those around him than the others. It's a good debate to have . Walter signed some great players for us.

Technically he signed Mark Hateley, so he'd most definitely be in my 11.
Correct.
Replace Jelavic with Hateley in my team.
If you want to go the other way and disqualify Hateley and Gough, I’ll replace the latter with Cuellar.
Then I had to replace Steven with Davis if we’re disqualifying players who were resigned.

Or those he gave their debuts to.

Andy Goram

Sergio Porrini
Carlos Cuellar
Lorenzo Amoruso
David Robertson

Barry Ferguson
Jorg Albertz
Paul Gascoigne
Steven Davis

Brian Laudrup
Nikica Jelavic

Not too shabby. Had to leave out 8 Uefa cup finalists .
Some team

Weir and Amoruso were better Smith signings though if you don't count Goughs first spell
Amoruso did next to nothing under Smith because of injury.

My centre back paring would be Cuellar and Weir, with honourable mentions to Bougie and McLaren.

And strangely enough no huffy columbians

I'd class Barry more as an Advocaat player in terms of his breakthrough, and McLeish signed him second rime around.

Stuart McCall is a better shout.

When did Advocaat sign a man who likes to drown partygoers in his pool? (Allegedly)

I'll go for a 3-5-2 for my team

1. Goram

5. Cuellar
4. Amoruso
6. Weir

2. McCall
7. Gattuso
8. Gascoigne
10. Albertz
3. Robertson

11. Laudrup
9. Jelavic

I resisted the temptation of Gough and Hateley although technically allowed. McCall slightly out of position, but he can do the job

Walter could always pick a centre half, don't think he ever signed a bad one, centre forwards was another matter with Durie the only real success in his first spell, Negri's reign was too short lived. Then again when you have Hateley and McCoist I suppose you don't really need many alternatives
