Watching us live Vs TV

I'm always more nervous watching it on tv at home as well. I think at the game you can see the bigger picture of how the games going, you don't have a bloody commentator in your ear trying to generate excitement out of some move that you can see is going to break down any minute or giving a 'shout out' to some punter in Florida - and you don't have someone popping into the room every two minutes and asking 'how's it going'.

Since I now live in Wales that's my lot though. It's better than missing out entirely.

Generally end up with head wounds from battering my head off the wall from listening to fucking idiots commentating/giving analysis on our matches. Don’t get such trouble when watching in person.

Could just turn the sound off right enough.

I’m more nervous watching it on the TV. My anger levels go up as well, listening to the shite commentary and feeling hard done by if a decision goes against us in a match.

At a game you’re none the wiser.

See I have tried turning the sound off and I hate it :D

You can’t beat watching Rangers in the flesh, and I’m more excited and optimistic at the game, but as I live in Devon, the tv is my best option. That said I see more Rangers games now than ever, actually never miss a game thanks to the Internet.

Watching on TV I’m incredibly nervous to the point I very rarely eat building up to a TV game.

When I’m at the game I’m a little more in control

Harder work watching it on tv. Tend to get more vocal, the missus and the cats usually disappear for 2 hours when Rangers on tv. Mind you maybe the bevvy when watching doesnt help! Had the misfortune to arrange to meet folk in my local cafe bar for the Scotland rugby on Saturday. They yapped all through the first half until I angrily told them to stfu as I came to watch the rugby not listen to how your dogs are or your fuking kitchen renovation is going. Will be watching rest of 6 nations at home.

I'm always more nervous watching on TV aswell. Think a lot of it is not being able to see the whole pitch and where players are etc as breaks happen.

Generally hate watching football on tv, be it us or anyone else. Most commentary is shit and I really dislike not being able to see the full pitch. You miss so much from that. I get irritated watching football on tv.

That said, I still do it.

Nothing beats sitting at Ibrox though. I’m lucky to have a great view with some decent folk around me. So in general I’m more relaxed in general play and of course the feeling when we score, especially in a big game, is a million times better than watching on tv.

I think it depends on how you ‘normally’ watch us.

Because I live in England, going to a game is a treat and always an excellent day.

That said, I frefer the football when I watch it on TV because can interpret offside calls, fouls etc easier because that’s what I’m used to.

How much of a difference do you feel?

I have found watching on the TV makes me a nervous anxious wreck especially the european games this year and always the mentally challengeds games

However when I am at the games I feel more relaxed. Odd

How does it affect you?

My experience is exactly the same
I even find myself not wanting to watch - with all my emotions -especilly frustration- becoming magnified

Another thing I've become aware of recently - with the last few games I've attended on my own - travelling at the last minute - & not getting seats together with mates etc. - is that when I'm with others I 'see' more-
Maybe it's a concentration thing - or having the option of discussing it / commenting with someone at the time - but when I'm on my own I come back wanting to check replays for a list of incidents I've completely missed

Watching on TV increases my anxiety levels x 100.

One of the reasons I don't go to the pub to watch Rangers games is that when we are playing the last thing I want to be doing is chatting away to folk. I'm 100% focussed on the game and have no interest whatsoever on 'socialising' whilst the match is on.

Livvie away was great fun but cold and terrible view.

TV is better but no atmosphere and you do get distracted.

I'm much more positive at games than I am when I watch on TV.

Just feel on TV that we'll conceded everytime the opposition attacks, compared to at games when I just feel we won't.

The Villarreal game at home, I was at and felt comfortable even with 10 men.

TV is torture compared to being at the game. At the game, all my ire is directed at the officials or opposition. At home, a fair share of those in a blue jersey get it too!

Usually the same but at Pittodrie is the most nervous I’ve felt watching any game in years . The relief when Defoe scored was brilliant .

Prefer watching the games live rather than TV.

Radio is the absolute last option for me - My nerves are shot listening to us on the radio.

I'm the same OP in fact even worse, if other team score I sometimes turn off or take dog out, shout like a looney at the TV even when watching alone. I'm much better at Ibrox, relaxed and happier

I remember on Helicopter Sunday I was listening to a commentary on the Rangers game via desktop in one room and had a radio on in another room with the commentary from the Dhims game. Absolute bedlam. No idea how I didn't die of a heart attack. I was approaching 50 at the time and ended up doing somersaults along the hall and in virtually every room in the house ha ha.

I don't think you are part of it watching on television.
It is a very poor substitute for the spine-tingling sense of occasion you get from making up a live audience in the theatre of a football ground.
At the game, you somehow feel as a supporter that you can influence events, especially collectively.
And often ....you can!

Far more relaxed at a game. I’m a wreck watching it on Tv, probably due to walker/Crocker amping any slight thing up in to a negative and I feed in to it.

Love the build up to the match,on match day when I'm at Ibrox, can be my own professional pundit during the game, don't have to listen to these arse wipes on t.v.
Also get a chance to see some of the ex players, who are on duty or visiting for a game.

Totally agree ask the better half, who sits there and watches the game, whilst I go into a ritual of going for a walk, out to the shed, etc, worse still when it’s the Scum away. Yet nae bother at all at home, including the Scum, mental.

Hate watching on TV now that I go to most games. It's weird how much calmer I am when I'm actually there (drink probably helps mind you).

Can't imagine what I would've been like watching the win over the scum on the tele. I was bad enough watching the sheep game last week.

Agreed. I seem to adopt a pessimistic view on the build up to a game that i will be watching on TV - Kinda set the bar low so if it's a duff result i am almost prepared for it in my head.

Going along to the game i'm much more positive regardless of opposition.

I'm exactly the same - I really struggle watching us on live TV.

It might be related to how bad the commentators tend to be, but there's also a feeling of helplessness. Somehow, I feel more involved when I'm at a game.

If you want nerves - follow the game on the match thread.

The most amazing roller coaster

From the end of the world to heaven with one click of the refresh button
From people wanting to kill each other to other posters almost getting married on line.

When a goal is scored the Yaaaaaaaas posts come through for 10 minutes as everyone is watch from

And best of all you do not have to listen to the ar##eholes commentating on Sky or BT

Similar to others, far more nerves at home, mentally challenged games are almost unbearable.

Get lost in the atmosphere at Ibrox so less nerves

1st Season not watching Rangers live, it’s blinking killing me.
Depending on a camera person deciding what build up play looks like.
Not seeing the off the ball movement, the full pitch and possible moves or attacks available.
Not getting the vibes from the crowd.
In reality watching football on TV is nothing like the real deal, nothing compares to to the thrill, win, lose or draw of live football.
Unfortunately TV football is my fix now and I’m sure for quite a few others for various reasons.
Do not take live football for granted, enjoy it with all your passion, because when the day comes that you cannot attend live games you will miss it.

Absolutely hate watching it on the tele. Prefer being able to see the full pitch and don't have to put up with commentators. Much more nervous when you're not at the game.

Is there anything worse than listening to the game on the radio ? You lose concentration for a minute only to be met with chaos over the airwaves, thinking that It's a goal for us, then the massive anticlimax of realising we've conceded. Torture.

Pretty much the same as yourself, I don't know why either.

Live definitely, at least you are in some way involved, even if you can't actually do anything. TV is still better than radio however, you're reliant on one commentator, whose confirmation of a goal/miss is a fraction of a second behind the crowd roar/groan

Nothing beats being at the game regardless of who and where we're playing, Sadly I dont get to that many these days and have seen most on the tele, it's certainly a far different experience although I enjoyed last wednesdays game with a few mates, the flip side of last wednesday was the first Livi game and Dundee away, torture.
