Some on here think he was close to our own 18 yard box when he hit it.

John Greig was probably around 35 yards but out towards the touchline making it seem much further.

Very similar to Vanoli's goal against Dundee some years later.

Big DJ added the finishing touch to a good few and I doubt there are many keepers who could claim as many assists as big Peter.

Was in a post a few days ago, closest I remember was Miko vs Falkirk , landed on top of the net. Also the 5-1 v Celtic, Mark Walters came close. I thought Hately was very wide, but inside the Thistle half.

Roberts is the furthest out I can remember seeing. It’s actually surprising that big Peter McCloy never scored from any of his kick outs, they were unbelievable.

Big meter must have had a few assists to his name esp for DJ

Laudrup was certainly capable, but I don’t remember him trying it. Certainly lobbed the Aberdeen keeper from pretty far out at Pittodrie

I think it's a no unless evidence appears. Watching it back Roofe is JUST inside our half so I think it's the furthest out ever.

Can't think of one from my time watching Rangers and the closest I believe I have read of (although I may just be looking for an excuse to mention a certain game) was George Young's 50 yard free kick to score Rangers 4th in the 8-1 victory in January 1943 -

Nope 100% he did it for us I was there. May actually have been just inside the oppositions half, but was certainly about the half way line (no TV unfortunately)
