What transfer budget do you think will we have this summer?

Now I’m not stupid and I know Coronavirus will obviously impact everyone financially but, with a European run that would’ve brought in a decent amount, a new merchandise deal, season ticket sales, MyGers and £20m + investment coming in soon, will we have a budget that can realistically get us the players we clearly need?

Going to be something special this year, love the new kit sponsor and think they will help money wise a lot more than people think.
plus our amazing fans that just keep giving.
think this year is going to be special.

I take it the £20m+ investment is a share issue.

Has that already been agreed by the shareholders at a general meeting. Sorry but I find it difficult to keep up with these things.

We've blown every last penny on Hagi and will end up having to sell Morelos for 5 mill to stave off administration for another 6 months. Well, I'm sure that'll be the "exclusive" in the Daily Rhebel at some point.

With some contracts coming to an end, surely some salaries will be freed up. Just need to make sure money is spent in the right places - need to be shrewd in the transfer market and take advantage of other clubs being put under financial pressure due to the Covid-19 pandemic

I don't personally think Gerrard is tasked with a transfer budget per se. I'm not sure that happens at a club like Rangers. If there is a crucial player(s) that is identified by Gerrard, I believe Rangers will go out to get that player and make it happen, regardless of price. Not saying we're going to spend 20 Million on a player... but it has been proven that when players like Kent and Hagi are required, there is money available to spent.

This is rangers mate - I think within reason, if a transfer needs to be done, it will get done.

I think we will spend as much as we can afford and maybe a bit more to stop 10 and to back Gerrard.
He is not getting a 4th year with no trophy this season a league win is a must .
We might have things in the pipeline.
No one expected us to buy Helander at over 3 million.
I think we will sell 2 or 3 of our players.

Agree when you say that we’ll sell 2 or 3 players. I think if the reports of Marseille willing to pay €10m are true then we’ll do a deal for that price, Marca reported Atletico Madrid want Morelos so if they can pay £15m-£20m then I’d take it and I’d sell Katic as we could probably get a decent fee for him, possibly in the range of €5m

Considering new investment and a good kit deal I think we will have more funds. I do believe that the Board will back Gerrard financially more this season despite the situation. I think we will cope very well.

We have to spend more this season considering we haven’t won a league title nor a meaningful trophy for 9 years now...

£5 million tops. How much of that is eaten up by the Hagi fee i'm not sure. Hopefully that will be covered by last/this seasons EL run. Personally i'd spunk the lot on an experienced, ball-winning midfielder who's not afraid to mix it. A cheaper version of Souness if you like. Ideally someone with experience in British football, perhaps even an old pro from the likes of Stoke, Burnley, or some other perennial mid-table EPL side.

I get that will leave us bare at LB and up front. I think we might need to free up a few more salaries (Barker, Jones, and either Stewart or Kamberi) and hopefully pick up a couple of decent loan deals to fill those holes. However, I believe we are a small step away from being a really good side, and a player like this would not only be the final piece in the jigsaw, but elevate the contribution from others in the squad. IMHO part of reason we havent seen the best of Kent is he needs a minder (so will Hagi by the way) and there are others in the side, such as Jack and Arfield, who have fire in their belly and just need a leader.

Ideally Ross McCrorie might fit this role, but I dont think he's ready and there are still reservations over his ability. However with Ross in mind for the future, that might allow us to move for an older more experience pro. We might even get one out of contract and save on the fee. However, we cant dick about on this anymore. Whether you call it lack of fight, bottle, psychology, its clear this type of player is sorely needed in our side. It's the Elephant in the Room with the gaffer's management IMHO.

Seems impossible to predict right now given the ongoing situation - every club the world over will be in the same position. I don't think any club will be trading players normally. Market values will have fallen also, so whilst we may get players in the door cheaper, our outgoings will also leave for less than their value just 6 months ago. Just my opinion of course. Will certainly be an interesting window regardless.

Hopefully we will be able to get some late deals if the the strips and training gear are popular and sells quick

I still think we’ll be able to recruit a few players but the amount of outlay be dependant on outgoing player sales, if there are any.

We’ve certainly been helped with the Castore finances coming in along with ST sales and also MyGers memberships as well.

We’re certainly not going to be struggling like the MSM would have you believe.

We need to sign a RW and a CM to go straight into the first team so I hope we're able to make something work. After that, I'd be looking at proper back up for full back and striker (presuming Alfie stays). If we sell any starters then I'd expect the funds to be used for replacements.

I'm with you I think possible sales will be Katic morelos kamara.
Goldson might be a possibility if price is high enough. If Tav does not go this year we are not going to get a decent fee for him can see him still kicking around here at 32
Hopefully we can get 500k or so for Murphy hopefully Barker goes some how maybe a free and no pay off or small fee.

We Should keep katic

Impossible to say at the moment what we will spend, alot will depend on any players we sell. The new retail and st sales and MyGers will help. Also the big un known is the investment in the share issue. If the reports of Stuart Gibson being involved and other new people that could put good money into the club.

Barker ain’t going anywhere he’s on 10k a week, so unless we pay him off I can’t see him leaving for a fraction of his wages elsewhere

I think the board trust Ross Wilson more than they trusted Mark Allen. In the 6 months Wilson has been here he got money for grezda and got hagi for 3 million over 3 years its clear to see he has a plan something I never thought Allen ever had

I agree with you wishful thinking on my part.
Its sad to think he will earn over a million pounds for the grand sum of f%*k all

We

We Should keep katic
We have 4 Central defender's I thing Gerrard will go with Goldson and helander as first choice.
Edmundson as back up and bring in a mother back up development player.
If we can get 4 million for Katic I think we would sell

No set figure, but Gerrard will tell the board what positions need strengthening, and it’s up to Ross Wilson to find suggestions and the board to approve the cash

The investment is 'on hold'. That might mean its coming soon, or it might not. We've just spent circa £3m on Hagi and will be making up three months wages to those who deferred (though I expect that to be over the tax year rather than in a lump sum next month). We had to turn to our investors last season again and the season ahead is shaping up to be even more financially difficult.

Personally, I'd say anything else we spend will be dependant upon what we can bring in from sales. The market will be depressed so we won't get as much as we'd hitherto expected but, equally, when buying we will have scope to negotiate downwards as we did fairly effectively with Hagi. Don't expect big bucks spending unless we have big bucks sales is how I see it.

Hopefully enough to cover 3 more players of first team quality because that’s what we need imo if we are to win the league next year

Couple of questions mate:

Do you expect us to make a formation change for the forthcoming season?

Also, where do you see Hagi playing?

Maybe now is the right time to push the boat out for a few quality players. Prices will most likely have gone down considerably, we could buy now and sell in 2 or 3 years once prices have reverted back to normal.

Players out of contract who would previously be out of our reach might have less options available.

Very difficult to predict how things will play out but I doubt we will have spent all the money available in one go on Hagi so early.

Whatever players are required I'm sure the board will provide the funds necessary if it means one or two assets have to go then so be it.

We need to absolutely fucking go for it next season.

Quality is required throughout the squad.

Dont agree with this. £7m for kent was serious investment, we wont be paying more than that. "This is rangers" is an unrealistic view point

If the players and staff had taken a wage cut we could have used that the money saved towards the transfer kitty !

Do you actually go to games ?

P!sh like this grinds my gears.

Would it surprise you that Barker has only started 4 games for us

St Johnstone home 4-0, Porto away 1-1, Motherwell home 2-1, Porto home 2-0,

He also came on as a sub in the Feyenoord home 1-0 game so in terms of our European run that earned us millions he has certainly contributed his part.

If as an earlier posted commented he is earning £10k a week that is what the likes of Kevin Kyle, Ian Black were getting back 7 or 8 seasons ago playing at Ibrox in front of 30,000 against postmen and folk on the dole. Not sell out European nights against some top Euro outfits.

I‘ve done this to death on the Refunds thread. It’s not for an employee - any employee, of any business, on any salary level - to take a pay cut to help out the business unless they have either an emotional tie to it or they couldn’t find similar employment elsewhere. Have you taken a salary cut?

God that makes me sound like a Socialist and, believe me, nothing could be further from the truth.

Whatever, I have debated this to death with you all ready, not going to debate again .

Player sales will likely dictate what funds are made available which is perfectly understandable imo.
