What's your keepie uppy record?

Each time I got past 300 odd, which was constantly from about the age of 9, I would start getting bored. Was never one for round the worlds or the fancier stuff, apart from shoulder to shoulder because of the Cola advert, so usually ended up doing one of two things. Either I started belting it straight up in the air as high as I could and control it again and see how many of those I could do in a row, think I managed about 40 of those, before shinning one on the way down due to lack of concentration or I'd start doing volleyed wall passes and progressively hitting it harder and harder at the wall until it was past me before I knew it. The former was up the park and I'd normally do them whilst lapping the pitch instead of standing still. The latter was at my wee Grans bit and it drove her bananas. B-) When I was coaching local kids about a decade or so ago now I gave them the latter as homework. To say I was disappointed with the results was an understatement. What will that teach me, mum went aff her nut, I forgot etc. Think the best any of them managed was about 5. The boredom factor always got me in the end though so respect to the guys in the k's on the thread, that's dedication! :-)

246. Still remember it, I was 13 and waiting for my mates to come out after dinner to play Records.

Could have beat it but don't remember ever trying to again.

One way to stop the boredom (or speed it up) was to do really fast tippy ones on one foot until the other calf got sore. Could easily rack 60-80 in a matter of seconds when I was regularly practising them.

About 15. Mastercard came into my work during the 2018 World Cup. They set up a stall giving away free World Cup footballs for winners of keepie up competitions. I’m walking past the stall and am asked if I want to participate. They then ask this wee heavily pregnant woman in heels if she’ll go against me. So I am already thinking that I can’t wait to give my toddler son this fancy football when the wee woman beats me 25-9!

Went from 5 to 100 in one summer. After that I then progressed to a hundred with alternative feet. Think my all-time total is 500ish, concentrating on the ball and trying to count that high was too much for my teenage brain.
Nowadays, in my mind, I think I can still do 50 - 100 but in reality I've probably regressed back to 5. I might give it a try this weekend, maybe even do before and after pints!

Sometimes i will go out back door to still see if i can do 100 first try getting harder as i get older sometimes take me a couple goes.

I won a keepie up competition in P7 and think was 176 i got :-)

Since 1690 has already been taken I'll go for my actual figure which was more than 1100, but didn't reach 1200. Can't remember exact figure but I knew that I couldn't be bothered trying to beat it after that.

Could do as many until I got bored when I was younger.

At school, we got a visit from one of the girls from Glasgow City. One of my pupils asked her how many keepie ups she could do and she said about fifty. So the ask her to show them. To her credit, she did the fifty dead on and missed 51.

When she went away the asked me how many I could do. I told them "more than 50 anyway" so, being in the gym hall, I got a ball and did 51, just because.

A couple of years ago, I had P7 (I also take the school team). Anyway, in the last week of school we were over the park and we were messing about with the ball. We had a keepie up competition and the most was about thirty. They asked me to have a shot. I got to 99 and booted the ball away. They were raging that I didn't go to the 100.

I’ve not kicked a ball in about 15 years and I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t do 100 even now
Prepare to be disappointed. I was pretty decent at keepie uppy as a lad. Tried it a few weeks ago when I was kicking the ball about with the wee man. Struggled to do 20 and fell on my arse attempting to trap a ball.

In saying that, I’m now 49 and rather plump. I still dream about growing up to be Ally McCoist though!

I'm sure it was about 100. Still not bad at them now and usually hit 50 odd when kicking the ball about with the wee lad

I’d make 50 no problem. Definitely wouldn’t be falling on my arse :))

I’m 44

Just had a few (about a dozen or so) goes with the ball we use to pig the draff pipe at work.
12, 14 and 24 only attempts in double figures and now sweating and my hips ache a bit.
56 in a few days and managed to hit my belly on a couple of the attempts.

Could also do plenty with a tennis ball and that made a football seem much easier.

30 years ago or so life was simpler.

Keepie uppies, playing / watching football and video games.
I was trying to show my 7yo daughter keepy uppies with her tennis ball, basically trying to show off. F*ck me, I managed about ten and then blamed my trainers, went up stairs got a different pair and still managed about ten. Age is a c*nt, although fly away balls is the great equaliser. :)

I managed to get over a hundred a couple of times.

around 1990 the sfa ran a competition. Can’t remember the details but one of the lads in our school got taken to hampden for a keepie up comp. He could do thousands of them. Can’t remember if he won or not

I'd struggle these days with a tennis ball and probably get to about 30 or 40 with a football, guessing though.

Aye age is a bugger bro.

I bet if I tried the half way crossbar challenge I'd get nowhere either where as when I was still.playing I'd have at least a chance and the power to get close.

Washed up loyal!

Random fact that I remember.

The UK record holder for keepie up pies in the 80’s/90’s was a guy called Rob Walter’s, who was Mark Walter’s cousin

Think it was something like 1,200 keepie uppies

Did a keepy up 24 hour challenge, for charity, many years ago. Failed, managed about 12, but the winner eclipsed me with over 18 hours.
Still, I was a better fitba player than he was.

I’ve been waiting on this thread. Keepie uppies is the one talent I have. I can’t do tricks, just loads of keepie uppies - therefore I can’t make any money from my talent - just my luck. :(

My record, set round my back garden during the cup winners cup final between Man United and Barcelona in the early 90s is measured in hours. I started at half time and was doing them 30 mins after the final whistle. I can’t remember how many but it would be 5 figures I’d imagine. I didn’t drop the ball, I just stopped. I’m 47 now and I’d like to think I could still do 1000.

I was supposed to watch my cousin playing but I started doing keepie uppys at half time and didn’t finish until after the final whistle. It was a bit over 3000.
