When do Everton open their new ground?

Last I seen it was almost ready. So would imagine it will be good to go for next season.
 
Saw a video online today and they are just starting the ground work for the pitch.
Will be seeded over summer and 5% artificial woven in for October but that will have to knit.
Still a fair bit to do regards installing seats etc as per the video.
 
I was at Goodson for a game earlier in the season and took a drive by the new ground to try and have a look, it will be a great setting when finished however it struck me that there will be very little parking round about.

Never want to leave Ibrox.
Would cost 3/400 million to do so for a 60,000 plus stadium which a club playing in Scotland can never finance so don't think it'll ever happen.
 
Opening for the 25/26 season, a year further down the line that was planned for.
Located on the Royal blue Mersey, right on the river and because of that looks very impressive, walkable from the city centre.
Financial issues may stop some of the infrastructure initially going ahead but it’s a move the club had to make.
 
When you look at Goodison tonight you can see why they have to move.

The Gwladys St end that the stand the camera is in have character, but the main stand is a dump (I’ve been in it), and the stand behind the other goal is akin to something at Starks Park.

I remember being at Upton Park for a game in West Ham’s last season playing there. Got talking to a few locals who were West Ham die hards, old school fellas in the late 50s early 60s and few of them were talking about giving up going to the games once they moved ground as they said it just wouldn’t be the same.

Whether they did or not I’m not sure but I’d feel the same about Ibrox, it would feel really strange and just would lose a wee bit of connection
 
The Royal Blue Mersey Stadium will be completed by November this year. Work on the pitch starts early in May. But Everton will not be allowed to play official games - EPL, FA Cup, Carabao Cup - until the start of season 25/26 as clubs have to register their ground before the season starts. There will be test events early next year building up attendances in order to get the required safety certificates. That will probably involve low-key friendlies.
 
Obviously a decent upgrade but still don't understand why they chose to build it next door to a wastewater treatment plant. Seen quite a few reports now of people going to see the construction and commenting on the smell. Seems mad...

Us or them (irrespective of their stadium) leaving the respective grounds would be so wrong.

Am I right in saying that the old celtic board wanted to move them to EK? Was well before my time (was born in 94) that seems mad

One of my regrets is not taking in a game at Upton Park. A proper old school football ground. Atmosphere sounded electric under the lights.

Never heard or knew of the plans to move Celtic to East Kilbride?
 
During the commentary last night, it was said next season would be the final one that Goodison Park would hold a Liverpool derby.
 
I was at this game last night and was very surprised at the atmosphere outside the ground before ko.Liverpool got escorted to the game and came under attack a few times.
 
Bound to be a delay,a construction site near the Scoucers! They,d steal the shite out yer erse that lot.Was happy seeing Everton hump them last night.

There’s an Everton season ticket holder in my work, he tells me there is 150 in the supporters club that run busses from Glasgow for every home game.
£30 a skull and they can drink on the bus, Parks of Hamilton one as well.
No bad price.
Get there about 2 hrs before the game and leave 90mins after the final whistle.

They have been neighbours to a shithóuse at Goodison all their lives, they will be used to the smell.
It’s sad that Goodison is going, as last night showed once again, under the lights at Everton is an electric atmosphere. I have always thought that, since the days of Howard Kendall(?) when they were winning cups and challenging for the top. Much like Upton Park, as mentioned above, a really tight ground with fans almost on the pitch. Still onwards we go.

Cambuslang - which they picked or Robroyston in the North East of the city

Cambuslang I think. As I recall it was a pipe dream with no funding ever in place.
 
they've been in dire need of a new bigger stadium for a good while, hopefully it's not another soulless bowl though.
Having a look at the latest videos, it does look quite smart and the stands look steeper than other new stadiums so might help with the atmosphere

And I bet the bus doesn't pull away from Goodison right on the final whistle either. :)
 
It's a shame to lose another traditional old ground, however I went there to see Everton v QPR in 2012/13 and it was an utter shithole. We had particularly poor seats right enough.

Everton is in Liverpool. Evertonians are scousers. Everton has a higher % of their support coming from the Liverpool region than Liverpool FC. I’m afraid you may have ironically been backing the wrong team.
 
I was at Goodison years ago doing the tour with my dad as he had a soft spot for Everton when he worked on the sand and gravel lorries back in the 80s and that's when Everton had a quality side.

One thing I was disappointed in, and the ladies that took us round the tour actually asked us to complaint about it, was the lack of silverware on display, especially the replica of the ECWC trophy, which is apparently in storage in Liverpool Town Hall.

The main stand is so small, the home dressing room is no bigger or better that a modern day portacabin that has been converted into dressing rooms.

The places where the players/managers get interviewed is literally no bigger than a phone box.

The plans revealed in April 1992 included:

A 52,000 all seater stadium
Two Park & Ride rail stations from Glasgow city centre
A retail village including major stores and car showrooms
Parking for 4500 vehicles
A Celtic Heritage museum
Integrated Sports and Leisure facilities
A permanent performance stage
Mobile acoustic curtain enclosing up to 15,000 seats
An eight-screen cinema complex
A 30-lane ten-pin bowling alley
Drive-through fast food restaurants
Petrol station
Office units
Room for further expansion
Total cost, we were informed, was £100m and initially 32,000 seats (the two touchline stands) would be built with the rest to be added later.
