When does £1million not equal £1million?

In the summer Barkas was £6million according to the start of this video with the clip from the summer phone call

Around 49s into the same video when they splice in the updated, more recent call he's a £5million pound goalkeeper

Just yesterday the BBC reported he was £4.5mil.

By the end of the season they'll be reporting he was a free signing to spare their blushes in the transfer market.

Same with Greg Taylor I believe, transfer fee cut by a third once they realised he was pish. Suddenly a £3million pound signing became 2.

Seems that Seville calculator works in reverse!

There was a thread the other day on this, basically saying that mob announce the cost of deal ie transfer fee and wages making it look like they’ve spent more. Not surprised they try and down play it when he’s shite.

Transfermarkt is usually the source for such info, as they are impartial. BTW, we speak of transfer fees here, not TM's "market price" system which they purely use to evaluate players of a similar standing in their database.

Ajeeti 4.95m, Barkas, 4.50m, Duffy 1.95m loan fee and no info on Turnbull, probably some inner-Scottish thing that has been k(h)ept quiet about. Undisclosed, but rumoured to rise to 3.25m.

Mental decision when your realise we got a keeper like Jon McLaughlan for free.

They could have opted for David Marshall on a free - but no they spent upwards of £5m on Barkas haha
Marshall would wilt under the pressure at them he didn't look anything special before.

Still never seen Barkas make a save.
His hair moved more than the rest of him.
He just does not look like a goalie.
Be interesting to see how he does if a ball is floated toward him and 4/5 big lads clatter into him at a corner.
When do they play Aberdoom again :)

No resale value for pig eyes. This is a major part of their problem, they squander tens of millions on dross to try and unearth their next wanyama/van Dyke.

Kouassi, bayo, shved, soro, probably a stack more brought in for big money and barely see a first team jersey. Now reliant on Scott Bain and a shower of wantaways.

Marshall is a decent keeper if I'm being honest. Not great but decent.
I remember him the first time around when he was very poor not seen much of him too see if he's improved but always thought he did not have the bottle to be a keeper at a big club.

They were saying on the phone in they paid £2m loan fee for Duffy and a further £2m on wages.

How this guy ever played in the Premier League is baffling.

£3m for Bolingoli as well.
If theyd been 11 points behind when Bolingoli went on his Covid maddy you can guarantee they wouldnt have made a big deal out of it.

Hes the only GK I have ever seen that has studs about a foot long that stop his feet from moving to attempt a save
I hear he has a new boot deal

The Hibs goalie or Lewis wouldve been much cheaper

Must admit that I was pleased they didn't go for either Marciano or Lewis.

Their scouting and buying departments are absolutely abysmal in comparison to not just us, but most of the rest of the "top" SPFL clubs.

Could have saved myself 5 minutes :p But Duffy is reportedly on £2m wages from them, and Laxalt on £1m, Turnbull was £2.5m up front.

Thanks. No loan fee for Laxalt then?

Greg Taylor seems to have went from playing every week to not getting a look in, which is nice :)
Funny how you see their fans the last 2 or 3 games saying Taylor is a far better defender than Laxalt, they weren’t losing goals and games before he came in. From hero to zero in about 6 matches

Does this terrible run of 10 games, only 2 wins and averaging 2.5 goals against not coincide perfectly with Laxalt coming in to the team?

greatest example of this was when they signed Donati they hailed him as a £4million signing and when his contract ran out it transpired they bought him for £1.5 million
Been going on for years and rather than calling bs on it, the media up here actually facilitate it

Whatever they paid for him they were robbed blind.

Seen the highlights of their game the other day Barkas doesn't so much try to save the penalty as collapse in a shambolic heap. Second goal was dreadful from him as well.

A free transfer back to Greece awaits before the start of next season.

Hard to tell considering Barkas and Duffy came in the team at the same time. As long as it continues :)

The fee the put out or look like spending big probably includes the players contract and agents fees!

I don't think any one with more than a single brain cell is taken in by the claims the tramps make on their transfer deal.

Same with their valuations of players who leave or want to leave.

All flights of fantasy.

Some of the money they have wasted is laughable did they not spend £3m on that klimala guy and £3m on kouassi and he never kicked a ball for them ,dont know what they paid for soro and hes never played either

When was the last time they bought in a player and sold for a big fee (to Southampton usually, their DoF is shopping elsewhere now) Tierney was club trained. Dembele?

Thanks to this absolute diddy, They tried to copy us and brought in this reject.

Another pay off that will be needed.

We are so far ahead in so many areas it's glorious.

Scum always inflate the price they pay for players by adding salary into the fee - this quickly gets removed when the player is found out to be crap and ready to be punted or benched until his contract runs out. There are other "conditions" added to fees which might also be lumped in to their press release inflated numbers
"In a deal worth X million pounds " is usually the giveaway. Point in case would be Donati as mentioned earlier in the thread
