Where do you stand on clement?

Not so long ago most fans wanted him gone. Not many thought it was worth more than another half with him as manager.

Since then, it feels like there has been a change of opinion.

I know a chunk of people are waiting for another slip up to roll out the ‘told you so’ nonsense.

Have you changed your opinion? Do you still want him gone? Or do you think he is showing enough to demonstrate he can deliver?

Jury is 100% still out. Always easier to win once the pressure of a title challenge is gone. Europe has saved him so far imo.

Team playing better than they were but improvement still needed both home and away. Second half today wasn’t good at all and his subs probably made it worse.

Also needs to improve his signings, something that has improved but that’s not all on him

I was one who thought his time was up but I couldn’t come up with a replacement who could do a better job at that moment. Also I don’t think any credible manager would have come anywhere near us at that time
Things have improved over the last 6 weeks or so especially in light of the injuries we have had to contend with
At the moment I think the new CEO is right in giving PC the time and support to turn things around and so far it’s going well.
So at the moment I suppose I am content to see what happens in the rest of the season

I think we need to judge him when the bulk of our deadwood have left, we have a fully fit squad and the club has a proper footballing structure in place.

Im not sticking up for some of the god awful results but the constraints he's worked under must be tough going, the changes at the top of the club wont have helped.

We clearly need a strong second half of the season, win the Scottish, good run in Europe and try and claw back the deficit at the top.

Im more than happy to be proved wrong by the gaffer,a think if we can shift more high earning deadwood/permanently injured players and replace with some young players & few experienced we have the foundations of a good team..but a dont think we need just as many new faces come the summer as we first thought with Raskin, igamane etc starting to come into their own and adapt to the hammer throwers in this league..

I’ve backed him from the start and continue to do so now. I had absolutely no expectations for this season (as any fan whose head wasn’t in the clouds would have done) so I never got on the bandwagon of wanting him sacked when results weren’t going our way. He’s now proving exactly what I always believed he would. His transfer record, development of youngsters, European form, cup form cannot be argued with.

Qualification for the next round of Europe was great but as long as we're getting our arse handed to us in Scotland it means a lot less in the grand scheme of things.

No one should have their mind changed based on couple of victories over Dundee United and Ross County.
What you’re saying is typical of the magic wand brigade.
Thinking a new manager would immediately step in spend no money, make next to no signings and suddenly win the league is utter fantasy
Clement has proven his ability in Europe, has now got the better of Celtic and has, at least temporarily steadied the ship in domestic away games.
In my view he’s earned enough credit to at least finish the season
Changing now would be absolute lunacy

First of all where do you stand on opinion of him? You ask a question but without giving your own. Let's hear yours, I know mine.

There's a few things he needs to do to showcase progress:
  • Winning the vast majority of the remaining domestic away games this season
  • Cutting the gap and beating them again
  • Getting through the next round of the Europa League
  • Winning the Scottish Cup
Otherwise the questions are still going to be there and we'll just be having the same discussions in the summer. There's definitely has been an upturn and greater reasons for optimism but it has to be sustained and built upon.

It feels like a very Gio-esque type of run where we’re very bipolar in the league and very good underdogs in Europe.

I agree with the direction he/the club is going in. I like that we’re going for youth and some of the finds in the last transfer window give me hope the player trading model might work this time.

we’ve come on leaps and bounds since the Kiev game. Our performances against the bigger teams have improved significantly.

However he needs to find an answer to the low block. Despite the comments on here I think most fans are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. However another run like we had after the old firm game and it’ll probably tip the other way and the Board will have no option but to get rid

I wanted him gone. I am more than happy to be proved wrong.

His domestic away form is still diabolical despite a win at Tannadice. No one should be fooled by a couple of home wins against teams we should be beating every week.

His European form is great, granted that’s probably what’s keeping him in a job.

Killie, Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee all before the break: let’s see how he does in those games before we make any judgement.

He also needs to start playing Rice/ Curtis much more. Today was a prime game for them to start/ subbed on at HT. Granted he brought on Rice at HT. I just dont get why he is giving Lawrence game time over Curtis.

I wanted him gone. I think the board done the right thing though by putting him on notice, I very much doubt if we had got an interim in we would have improved as we have (only slightly) and qualified for the last 16 of EL.

The next bit is the difficult bit, he really needs to finish the season strong to show that going forward he should be the man for next season.

Always backed him. Believed this season would be an up and down one so haven't been overly surprised with how it's played out up to now. Promising signs with the younger lads in the side now and if we have a decent summer in the transfer market then no reason why we can't start next season strong and mount a proper league challenge.

he has been decent lately in the league

he has been good in the european games

if he drops more points in the league, there will be calls for him to be bagged

just the way it is
The league is gone, so In that respect it's not a great priority, a run in Europe and a Scottish Cup win is more of a priority imo. Clement Is on a full rebuild of the club, never mind the first team, season after this will decide about him

It's the away record in scotland that must improve he has certainly had alot of unfortunate circumstances with injuries etc and I've went from giving the guy a chance to wanting rid then wanting to give him a chance again, it is certainly starting to look a bit brighter some of the younger players he's bringing through are looking good, I really don't think we can afford to get rid of him financially and just hope his plan is slowly starting to take effect and next season we will be firing on all cylinders, but as I said he needs start beating the dross away that's the bread and butter

Absolutely bang on the money

Fans wanted a player trading model and the squad fixed, Clement has started that this year and we are on remit. We were never going to win the league, we've qualified in Europe to the last 16 with a ravaged squad and really hard fixtures. We were largely cheated out of silverware. I'm not happy with the amount of points dropped but we have also been the subject of some absolute terrible refereeing decisions.

Squad wise we have improved, young players getting a chance and some of the wage theifs moved in

Regardless of the next 4 months, Clement deserves a crack at next season

aye

once the next points are dropped, there will be calls for him to be sacked

just the way it is im afraid

He probably is our best bet of getting us through the cl qualifiers next season if he can get the right signings in the summer.

If we are out of the title race by October he will be gone.

Right now a lot of the stuff he’s said is coming to fruition in terms of patience with the squad, younger players and form.

However, I feel that a slip is only the next game away and all hell breaks loose again.

I’m not sure how many more he can survive but clearly the board believes in him and back him to the hilt. I’ll give Clement his due, as well as Koppen to be fair, they are laying foundations for the club to be self sustainable, financially secure and to try and make efforts to be successful.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with his tenure but as of now he’s certainly doing a decent job, more than good enough for the moment. Sure, 10 points behind is a ballbuster, but last 16 in Europe and hitting some good form now just shows that a wee bit of time and patience does work.

We are 10 but de facto 13 points behind and lost the cup.

The stakes are therefore low and we’ve picked up a bit of form - a story we’ve all seen before and shouldn’t be fooled by.

The club literally had no permanent CEO and chairman for a large chunk of the season which goes in the managers favour in this discussion.

Presuming we tick along until the end of the campaign (win the SC and don’t fall any further behind in the league) we’ll need to just take stock of everything at the end of the season.

We have to back him for me - from day 1 this season it's been very clear that this has been predicted to be a " transitional one" behind the scenes , clement even said as much in his presser during the week , you can't have a stable successful team on the park if there is so much instability off it - never mind the injuries

We would be best prioritising Europa league and cup games for the rest of the season , the league is long gone.

Old firm and Europa run has bought clement until at least the summer regardless I think
