The poll a couple of days ago was between 2 crashing unsaveable headers. Today, it's headed goals again, but scored by guiding the ball into the net using placement rather than pace. And both were scored in treble winning seasons by great Rangers players.

Goal is from October 1975 and was scored by one of my all time favourite players, Alex MacDonald. The League Cup Final against Celtic, and the only goal of the game to win the trophy. A trademark big game goal by a big game player, he specialised in guiding a diving header past a despairing goalkeeper.

Goal 2 is from April 1993 and was scored by Mark Hateley, a player who terrorised defences with power, pace and skill. This is our 3rd goal in a 3-2 win at Tynecastle in the title run-in. Not his usual majestic leap and powerful finish, this is a cleverly placed headed goal lofted over the keeper after a nice passing move.

2 terrific players. 2 headers placed out of reach. 2 treble seasons. No doubt one was a bigger game than the other, but which goal was better?

The latest specially created video comparison from @Rangers Archive Footage

Went for doddie as he was a was one of my favourite players growing up in the late 70s.
I also delivered his morning paper for a few years.

Tough one today, went for Marks because he was involved in the build up but both are terrific headers. Met Doddie in the Kirkintilloch Rangers club a couple of years ago, absolute gentleman.

Doddie for me - I’ve always loved that goal since seeing it on a Rangers Gold video years & years ago.

Hateley’s was very clever, not seen many people lob the goalie with a header before.
I just prefer the was Doddie gets free and directs that header.

There is something different and special about Hateley’s header.
It’s more than just a header.
Few would attempt it.
However, that MacDonald gambled and got himself into a position, then got the prime benefit, gets my vote.
I would say if the vote was for the one touch that brought the goal, Hateley would win it.

p.s. were you correct, DH?

I did!
You said if it's close you would go with the midfielder over the striker as strikers are meant to be better goalscorers.
Looks like today is going to be quite a close vote.

Two great goals; I can't pick. Seems that just about nearly every final he played in at Hampden Alex MacDonald scored, if Youtube is anything to go by.

Nice wee move and controlled header by Hateley.

Doddies movement along with the direction generated clinches it for me though.

Hateley's is one of my favourite header goals. To control a header like that is world class imo.
