Why Germany wear white, despite it not being a colour on their flag

World cup 1938 kit was a belter

Green away tops are because the *** colours are green. They wanted to pick a top that wasn’t linked with National Socialism after WW2 so ditched the red for green.

I always thought the German away kit was green because nobody would play them after the war until ROI did, so they adopted their kit

Maybe once they win a couple of wars first they can start comparing themselves to us.
I didn’t have any requests from Germany to make my high level and very general comparisons.
If I had I would have referenced their leadership failures in starting wars in the last century.

They've have green away kits most years.
Most recently qualification for euro 2020.
The reason is green is 1 of the colours of the German FA.
The article about why they wear white claims the Holland strip, like other countries is because of the flag.
Noted that as well mate, and they mentioned England as another nation wearing their county colours but if you’re being pedantic, their colours should only be red and white to match the England flag, rather than the current Union Flag colour scheme they use.

We used to have times telling anyone who would listen that the
Irish FA gave them the shirts because they didn't have any. :))

Was it dark blue?
Remember, their athletes used to wear dark blue vests.

I remembered it as light blue and white so googled it. It was various shades of blue over the years with the lighter blue being associated with the mullet haircut.

I remember starting a thread on this sort of thing a few years back. Some fascinating stuff was posted about why certain teams wear what they do.

Football is great for tradition.
