Why wouldn't Celtic want the season completed?

This nonsense makes a complete mockery of their run of titles. Let's face it, they are probably going to win it regardless. Which begs the question why exactly they voted for the resolution today?

Do they need the money right now? Maybe there is something on the horizon for them financially. Furlowed staff and pay cuts as well.

Have they no faith in their players to get them over the line?

At a gap of ten points with 8 games left (assuming that we win our game in hand), it's an awful big mess to want to be part of when there doesn't appear to be any need barring a huge, yet possible, collapse.
 
They want it handed to them and they can then focus their efforts on next season, they don’t want the hassle of having to complete a season several months down the line.

Their colleagues at the SPFL are doing everything in their power to make sure it happens.
 
There’s a timmy rumour as follows:

Colossal New Balance bonus.

If season doesn’t end in May they don’t get it.

Adidas deal starts July, had NB contract been up to 30-6 there’d be less pressure

I asked the same questions in another thread. Why the rush? Do they have information the other clubs don’t that is giving them the motivation to push this through?
 
They will take a title any way they can get it. They have no shame.

The shenanigans that the SPFL are trying to pull to gift them it means they don't have to do anything. If anything they'll probably regret letting TLB loose with that Press Conference demanding the were awarded the League given the lengths that the SPFL are going to, to ensure it happens.

it's looking more and more like we won't be able to finish the season. So they're feart a null and void gets imposed on them by UEFA. That's why they'd rather just get awarded it now.

Can you imagine if UEFA go down that route though?

It seems unlikely that they will but can you imagine we’re the only league in Europe that have jumped the gun and handed out silverware?
 
Because this way they get their title with 0 risk. If the league is played out they aren't guaranteed anything and would have to do it the hard way.

They don't really care about things like pride, sportsmanship etc, so if this is the easiest way they'll snap your hand off for it.
 
A truncated season 20/21 would see them lose financially (with us all) whilst increasing Rangers chances of the title.

Nerves, pressure and motivation are all much more “predictable” the longer the course run.
 
There's possibly something afoot at "cash rich" Celtic. Perhaps this pandemic and likely collapse of the transfer market will see them have to sell vast swathes of their squad to reduce an otherwise crippling wage bill? Knowing they won't get top dollar for Édouard (remember, they needed to sell Tierney last year and Dembele the year before) may see to them losing 3/4 top performers and thus weakening them in any end of 19/20 run-in?

Just adding petrol to the rumour fire.
 
This is the thing I can’t understand either.
Even with our red white and blue tinted specs on we have to admit the beasts are almost stick ons to win the league if it’s completed.
They had a big lead and after New Year we have been hopeless.
Added to that, winning it this way always leaves a giant asterisk on their league “win”. I can’t see what they have to gain here.
 
It's been obvious for ages.

Europe wide, the long game is to wait to see what happens with COVID-19 in the hope the season can proceed (I think that is a fanciful hope btw).

Once it is obvious it can't happen many leagues will declare Null & Void.

Celtic just can't have those other leagues setting a precedent. They were trying to use the Championship and Leagues 1/2 as their stooges to set the precedent under the false pretence that today's SPFL vote was the only way these clubs could get money released to them.

Now this has failed any Rangers re-constituted Resolution should be able to come to the fore, distribute the monies anyway, and then all clubs have breathing space and proper thinking time to plan the way forward. It is hard to think of any reason, apart from one club's, to vote against this eminently sensible Resolution.

The answer to the question though is they are in fear of Null & Void in the passage of time (that's been obvious for a very long time).
 
Another reason could be that UEFA may decide that because there are no declared champions in any league in Europe, the CL maybe constructed by using the last 16 teams from CL and EL for the 32 in next season's competition.

Lots of big hitters in EL just now that would be CL teams.

If they were awarded the league and UEFA did do the above, they would have a claim on an attempt at a qualification route.

I know but they were still voting for it to be awarded to them if the fixtures couldn't be completed. If they didn't want it, they would've said no like us.

If the shoe was on the other foot do we think the SPL would be pushing this line, nah don’t think so either, and therein lies the the big story here, blowing their impartiality out the water.
For what it’s worth UEFA should have ruled on all leagues or the SPL should have just went with the decision of the EPL.
If we were in the mentally challengeds position I would want the league played.

It’s not going to be possible to complete this season before next season is due to start. On that basis the options are to end the season now or void the season. That’s why they are pushing to end it.

The SPFL and the media would be saying its abhorrent to even think about League titles when a global pandemic is killing millions. However, they are acting like men possessed right now to award that mob the League title.
 
If they get given the league title I would like to think that any money made from the champions league gets divided equally between the four leagues
 
its looking like these fixtures won't be played now, they are terrified of the null and void verdict
 
9 in a row, it's what consumes them and they will take it by hook or by crook any which way they can
they don't care about tainted titles , fair play or sporting integrity it's all about 9
so come next season or whenever we resume Rangers better come out fighting and nail these bastards and show them for what they really are
