In summary for the SPFL excluding penaltys

2018/19

- Tav 1 goal every 12.34 games and an assist every 2.6 games
- Bara 0 goals every 16 games and an assist every 5.3 games

2019/20
- Tav 1 goal every 23 games and an assist every 2.6 games
- Bara 1 goal every 10 games and an assist every 2.5 games

Basically if you do the maths, Tav and Barasic contribute (assist) to 27% of our goals this season in the SPFL

Stats are good in isolation but they rarely tell the full story- Barasic has improved immeasurably overall in his play while Tav has digressed badly. We lose a lot of goals/chances/possession from the right hand side this season in general play.

The stats show this. Bara has improved and Tav has not offensively.

For the record Aribo assists on his own every 3.1 games.

Also Aribo on his own has contributed or scored in 17% of our goals.

A definite starter for me.

Stats are crazy mind.

Ojo is way ahead of Kent. In fact leaves him at the starting line.

Many will moan about stats and although they can’t be the single indicating factor they help build a good understanding of the positives and negatives in our game. Our fullbacks are defo not the problem. It’s only my opinion but by the time Tav/Borna reach the areas for crossing the ball the opposition have had longer to get bodies back. The spaces we are then looking to deliver the ball in are tighter giving an advantage to the defending team. If we had the option of wide front players we would be able to move the ball back to front a lot quicker, giving less time for the opposition to get back and close the space.

When both are playing, we have won every league game except 1, which we drew.

It's that simple.

Anyone who knows even the slightest thing about football, knows our full backs are the least of our worries.

Unfortunately that rules out a few on here.

They are absolutely not the issue.

Tav has been less productive this season for the simple fact (and I’m talking pre new year) that barisic has turned up and we are more balanced.

The very fact that had us playing so well as we were less predictable

I think you mean regressed

Really? I don’t think any of our recent goals lost have stemmed from our right hand side.

Probably the best stat on the page. The lack of proper deputies for both full backs is borderline negligent.

It's cost us dearly trying to shoehorn replacements into a system they wouldn't be as effective in, as opposed to altering the system to suit the players we had available.

I'm not one for knee jerk reactions and the pettiness of starting threads slagging of individual players and the manager, but I feel Gerrard hasn't been flexible enough with his system when certain key players haven't been available mate.

It's cost us dearly since the break.

Candeias going has had a big impact on Tav. Selling him (Candeias) was the right thing to do though, considering he wasn’t contributing enough as a winger.

We have played 11 games since the break.

We have played 10 of them with one of Morelos or Defoe unavailable, our two top scorers.

We have played 8 of them with either Tav or Barisic missing, our two most creative players.

We have struggled to score goals over this time
Funny that.

The system we use is entirely dependent on two flying full backs and Morelos as the focal point.

Injuries & Suspension have impacted the three of them. So it’s easy to see why we have struggled.

The lack of a Plan B or even a Plan C is poor. As is the insistence of certain individuals playing every week regardless of their form.
