Posted this in another thread, however tonight confirms that the majority of that squad do not have the mentality to take us to the next level.

Making Tav our captain in the summer was the gaffers first major error. A guy who has been part of some of the biggest thumpings we have ever had and led us to two 3rd places in the league does not have it in him to drag and inspire us on nights like tonight, the way Gough and Weir would.

Make McGregor captain till end of the season. Try bring in born winners in January like Davis etc. And stop the Liverpool reserves/loan experiment.

Do this in January and we have a chance.
 
The whole captain thing is overstated.

What does a captain really do; lead te team out the tunnel, call the coin toss, get his picture taken with mascots.

An arm band isn't anything other than a token.

McGregor gets a lot of praise for shot stopping but he is not dominant enough in his box. Too many times he lets the centre halfs deal with things when he should be claiming it

Id rather have him in the trenches with me than Ryan Jack, who seems scared to hit a shot at goal.

Davis would improve that midfield 10fold if we signed him in Jan and would be a much better captain than the current one.
 
Honestly laugh at the amount of folk on here who react to a loss by basically saying 'do X', 'stop doing Y', and we'll win the league/never lose again...

Naw.

We'll win the league by being the better team over 38 games.
Tonight is a set-back, nothing more.

Hardly requires ripping up the balance of the team or trying to re-invent the wheel.

Tonight if anything proves that there are PLENTY of opportunities where either us, the tims or even the now 'mighty' Kilmarnock will get surprise results, for or against.

Keep the heid.

I would trust Steven Gerrard's judgement over yours in this instance.

He knew a thing or two about the job.

At the end of the day we're a team, its not down to one player. We're all hurting tonight and it collectively wasn't good enough. If we remain in the hunt after December and we do well to strengthen the areas Gerrard wants then we can still make it to 55.

Your right. Cos we never lost any games with them as captain.

It’s not whoever is captain that’s to blame. We’re one dimensional and easy to play against.

Sit in deep against us and we struggle to break any team down. Changing captain will make no difference to that whatsoever

We did lose games like tonight when Gough and Ferguson were captain, too, you do know that?

it may just be a ploy to sell tav in January or at EOS and get a higher fee for him, tav is 27 now and maybe wants back south also, play Flanagan or another at rb and barasic at lb is far better balance,

We lost tonight because hardly any Gers player performed as they can. That was the worst performance I’ve seen from Gers this season and it had sod all to do with Tav being captain.
 
Sick and tired hear about fucking 55!!! The players we have won’t take us there. Every big game bottled it. Sheep took 4 points out of 6. Aberdeen unbeating in 4 against us. Still double header v hibs and Celtic to come plus st Johnstone away who are flying. Grezda coulibaly ejaria Flanagan Middleton no where near rangers quality! And Morelos shouldn’t be near the team again another let down the night.

Whoever wears an armband is not important to how a team plays.

McGregor was the most animated rangers player on the park tonight. We need more of that from the team and changing the armband won’t make a difference. Few players need to take the mentality of McGregor and Halliday, they show passion and fully know what is expected to play for rangers.
 
What part of magic captaincy fairy dust would have made the midfield pass the ball quicker to a blue jersey? Anyone looking at that tonight and drawing the conclusion that taking the captaincy away from the one player who was showing some urgency would have been the difference maker needs an emergency appointment with his or her shrink.
 
Can’t see why people are saying tav being captain has nothing to do with it?

Playing terrible and out of ideas you look to your captain to rally the team, Shagger was going nuts at the players all the while tav does nothing. Half time shagger is over at the ref complaining, all other players are off park, same on thurs night

And when morelos and lafferty are in refs face when already on a booking where is our captain to pull them away and speak to the ref?

I al not saying this was why we lost, our slow play cost us but this is also a problem
