Work started on the new pitch at Ibrox

Talk about not letting the grass grow under your feet!.
Thought the pitch looked brilliant yesterday but well aware it needs sorted long term.

It started immediately after the celebrations - Roofe put a video up when he was chilling in the stand and the pitch was already being dug up.

By eck lads the afterparty has took it's toll on the pitch :))

By the looks the board is'nt going to sit back on this season success.

How did they get the diggers in past the crowds? Or were they already inside the gates before the game yesterday?

Great news, shows that we always on the move, onwards and upwards, meanwhile across the city, leaderless and going nowhere fast!!

My missus showed me a pic from Instagram I think a few hours after the game there was a strip down the middle of the pitch lifted.

Does anyone have any information on the work being done? I know a full renovation was planned for next year, maybe to coincide with a seat expansion/lowering of the pitch.

They are doing the full works now it seems, all the work that was a few years overdue. Installed by SIS Pitches, they seem renowned for their work.

Should make for a real improvement to the pitch next season and it will hold together much better through the winter months.

This does mean that we will not be lowering the pitch anytime soon.

I love seeing work being done to improve our stadium. This will be amazing for the players and it should allow us to play our football even in the depths of winter.

SIS itches are installing the new pitch, which will most likely be a hybrid.

cutting up and selling off/giving away would have taken too much time I'd say.
Clearly time is of the essence considering they didn't spare a minute after the game yesterday.

Should have sold it by the square foot to the support

At say $20 per piece would have got about £1.5m.
But I think the time it would have taken to cut 75,000 pieces up and store them would have taken quite a while.
Time is vital I think considering they were right at it after yesterday's game.

I am actually supprised that this didn't happen, in particular with the commercial team being all over everything at the moment...
No time to cut it into strips, time is more money as the company have a deadline then moving on.

@HumpZ might be able to tell us / remind us what the plans are? Major investment or standard replacement?
Hybrid replacement so it’s not bog standard . Costing a fair few quid . Deffo not digging down for more seats as previously mooted

SIS are not installing the pitch as such, they will be stitching it, Allgrass are doing most of the main work.

We're doing a full Hybrid install, It's what's been needing done for the past 4 years.

We're up against the clock on this one but it'll be done in time and the results will be out standing.

around 400 tonne removal of material maybe more!
Is the drainage getting done aswel?

I’m not convinced they have lifted the whole of the old pitch. See a few pictures that makes it look like they have just put new soil on top of the previous pitch. I think the hybrid pitch sometimes takes a few seasons before you get to the final stage of having the full hybrid. This was the final stage for us I’m sure. Prep work had been done before.

this isn't anyway close to being true, Can people please stop posting rumours. This is what causes everyone to think we have a pitch that we don't for the past 3 years!

We currently have a semi-hybrid pitch and are moving to a full hybrid this season which would suggest some of the preparatory work is already in place. If you’re a landscape and turf specialist I’ll bow down to your superior knowledge. If not I’ll politely ignore your bizarre offence.
