You don't shoot - you don't score and you don't win games.

We don't shoot from outside the box. We don't make runs before their defence. Movement is non-existent.

We just launch aimless balls into the box. Make it so easy for teams like Aberdeen and Dundee to play against.

We should have the quality to run rings round teams like that.

The ironic thing is that Gerard and McAllister were 2 of the best at striking the ball from outside the box, so it is baffling that they are not hammering into the players the need to shoot on site.

Outside of set plays, when was the last time we scored from outside the box? Our one shot on target in that 2nd half came from Jack just hitting it, and then....we didn't bother even trying again.

This is really annoying me to, can no one ping a shot from 25 yards and at the very least trouble the keeper. It’s all well and good pinging crosses in from wide but we need to mix it up.

If you are playing against 2 banks of 4 sitting deep, you take shots from distance because
A. It could go in.
B. It could deflect off someone and create a chance.
C. It will definitely make the opposition midfield step out a bit, to close you down. Thereby creating a gap between the 2 banks of 4 that creative players can exploit.

Doing what we do, getting the ball and throwing in crosses, is ok if you've moved the defence about or you've got runners coming into the box.
We don't.
Our crosses are generally from bad positions and don't have enough pace on them to cause a problem.
Our biggest problem is we're shot shy. That is a big problem.

What does every other team in the world do if they need a goal?
Bring on a striker.

How many strikers do Rangers have on the bench?
None.

Because all we can do is put it to the wings and cross it into the box for the keeper

Fucking sick of it

We are so easy to defend against. Everyone knows that we are going to do.....and we do it.

We are a one trick pony at the moment. Move the ball wide and launch it into the box where it is easily dealt with by the defence/goalie. Doesn't take a tactical genius to nullify the way we play.

Was young Dallas not on the bench today? He must be due a chance, especially in situations like today when Lafferty is shite.

For us only to have one tame shot from a holding midfielder in the whole of the second half is unacceptable.

Everyman begins the ball or not. That is simply unacceptable

We played at walking pace for most of the second half, we should have been dragging the ten men all over the park with intensity. We’re so easy to play against.

Don’t worry about shooting, if you can’t see the pass & keep crossing into a penalty box with 10 defending players in it yer on a hiding to nothing. We need to let teams come at us earlier and hit them on the break like we do in Europe. We are putting pressure on our self.

Our opponents know they can pack the box and we will prove zero threat from outside the box

Football really is a simple game.

Score more goals than your opponent and you win.

Managers tend to over think it a lot of the time.

This.

It’s not rocket science.

Holding midfielders when playing against bottom of the league side is why we are not winning matches. They are offering very little going forward and zero threat in a goal scoring option.
Its like starting with 9/10 men.

As a Manager, Gerrard (and his coaches) needs to instil tactics that give us the best chance of winning a game.

That involves getting efforts on goal so he clearly hasn't told them to have a dig when they see an opening in the final third because, invariably, they choose to play yet another square ball across the box.

We need to start shooting on goal. We simply won't score goals otherwise and it's astonishing they seem to think they will.

I'm sure there was a thread the other week where people were going on about shooting from outside the box turns over possession to the other team more often than not blah blah blah.

Guess what?

Scoring goals turns it over to them 100% of the time!

We used to score great goals from outside the box, we no longer appear to have many capable of doing so in this squad.

I know it's Joe Worrall I'm mentioning here, but think back to almost any other CH we've had and they would have taken the shot.

In the second half, he had the ball, about a yard or two outside their box, with only one defender between him and the goal.
Rather than having a blast, and fair enough probably missing (but who knows?) he passed the ball about two feet to his left to a team-mate who had two players in front of him, and the ball went out to the wing to eventually fly into the keeper's hands.

As the OP title states -- if you don't shoot, you don't score.
And so we didn't.
