If you are playing against 2 banks of 4 sitting deep, you take shots from distance because
A. It could go in.
B. It could deflect off someone and create a chance.
C. It will definitely make the opposition midfield step out a bit, to close you down. Thereby creating a gap between the 2 banks of 4 that creative players can exploit.
Doing what we do, getting the ball and throwing in crosses, is ok if you've moved the defence about or you've got runners coming into the box.
We don't.
Our crosses are generally from bad positions and don't have enough pace on them to cause a problem.
Our biggest problem is we're shot shy. That is a big problem.
