Our problem is our weekly challenge is just not good enough and it also drags us down.
Well that and competent defending at times.

The winners of the league this year 100 percent go into the champions league group stages next season, so you were right.I actually thought we were, to be honest.
Their plastic pitch probably helped them as well. There's no way theses should be allowed a Champions League level.Helped they played against ten men I guess. We are nowhere near Champions League level.
Sorry Laudrup1 but we are not a CL team yet.I don't really buy that argument. The top end of the Europa is as strong as the low end of the CL.
Lazio, Leverkusen and Marseille would all take Malmo and a couple of other CL teams apart.
We could have been a CL team. We just found Malmo at a terrible time for us and threw in an absolute Walter in the 90s Euro performance.
It happens in football sometimes. It's probably the 1st time under Gerrard we've really fucked a Euro tie in nearly 50 efforts.
Even when we're (hopefully) in it next season, we could still "not be a CL team" based on our quality just being the same as we are now going by your metrics.
Iam not knocking our team in any way but only two teams have won the league in the last 31 years.Well that and competent defending at times.

I’m not sure that’s right, why would 20/21 CL winners impact on who’s in the 22/23 CL groups. The winners of the league this year 100 percent go into the champions league group stages next season, so you were right.
Everything is a year forward in Europe so we needed last seasons winners to qualify through their league position, which they did(Chelsea).
Everything that happens this season wont have any effect on next season, but the one after.
Sorry Laudrup1 but we are not a CL team yet.
Forgetting the racist behaviour, Slavia Prague were too good for us over two legs.
We couldn't overcome a 10 man Malmo because of existing problems, ie a lack of goals especially from a shot shy midfield.
Sorry to disagree but we have a long way to go yet and need to upgrade in certain positions

@erskine bear @CheckMateCharlieI’m not sure that’s right, why would 20/21 CL winners impact on who’s in the 22/23 CL groups.
It’s to do with the winners qualifying through their domestic league, so the CL winners have to qualify through their 21/22 league for us to be in GS 22/23 CL.
(I believe).
If Chelsea finished 5th last season, then a team would have missed out on the 21/22 CL (but i can’t be arsed figuring out who).
@rangeral will know
Thanks mate.@erskine bear @CheckMateCharlie
2022/23 - Scotland enter Play-off round and will only get direct entry if the 2021/22 CL winners have qualified for the 2022/23 CL group stage via their own league
Besiktas moved from Play-off round to group stage on the last day of the Premier League as Chelsea confirmed CL group stage place last season, Manchester City already had that
Had Chelsea finished 5th then Besiktas would have to hope Manchester City win or they would have started in the Play-off round as planned
Agreed. It's semantics though. If we win the league this year with the very team that lost to Malmo we'll be a CL team next year.
What's the difference in terms of ability at that point? None whatsoever.
We're no less of a "CL team" than Malmo, Sheriff or Young Boys.
Because Malmo beat us in a period where we drastically struggled for form doesn't mean we can't compete at the level they did to reach the CL.
Same as you wouldn't say Porto aren't a CL team as we beat them "on aggregate" across our two games in the EL groups or similar with Benfica last year.
Agree, a disgrace that these pitches are allowed in professional football.Their plastic pitch probably helped them as well. There's no way theses should be allowed a Champions League level.
