3-5-1-1

Nearly put in Lovenkrands for pace. Would be on bench with Weir, Prso, Arveladze, McGregor, Naismith and Ricksen.

Hard team to beat

I was having this very discussion with a mate at the weekend. Best Rangers 11 based on players we'd actually seen (he's 34, im 33)
Eventually we settled on

GK Goram

RB Stevens
LB Numan
CB Gough (captain)
CB Weir

MF Gascoigne
MF B. Ferguson
MF Laudrup

No.10 role De Boer

CF McCoist
CF Hately
Must have been hard pushed to have seen much of Gary Stevens.

Lot of people forgetting about Souness if you want to get a result anywhere he's your man.
What a team that is. That team could hold it's own versus anyone imo. The thought of Gazza, Souness and Gio in the middle of the park.....

Away to the camp nou?

Id be bringing Hemdani, Lovenkrands and Prso on in the second half.

8v0 to Rangers.

a lot of folk's 'best ever' sides are ridiculously unbalanced. For example, Cooper and Laudrup wide of McCoist and Hateley with Gazza and Albertz in a midfield 2. I get why obviously, but try and pick a greatest Rangers team (from players you've seen) in a structured formation - a team you'd pick to go and play Barcelona in the Camp Nou say.

Ian Ferguson
Gazza
Van Bronckhorst

Laudrup
Hateley
De Boer.

I'd fancy that side to go anywhere and get a result.

My first memory of watching Rangers was during the 92-93 CL campaign, so as much as I wasn't acutely aware of what was going on in the game, technically I still saw him play, so he fits the criteria!

For once I'm glad I'm 65 years old
With the 'extra' options not available to younger posters in the 'players you've seen' category

That means the likes of Craig Moore gets nowhere near the team of my choice & Caldow, Baxter, McMillan Brand & Wilson - .... actually phuck it - let's just keep that whole team & keep the others (Gaza, Laudrup, De Boer-etc.) on the bench

I'm only partially serious by the way -
Predictable old bugger loyal

A few favourites have been omitted from "the 18", notably Bobby Russell & Hateley.

I genuinely feel sorry for teenagers bears today . They’ve never seen us the way we used to be

Ricksen Weir Gough Papac

Reyna B. Ferguson Hemdani Gio Albertz

Lovenkrands

A counter attacking team managed by Walter for the Nou Camp.

No nonsense with Weir, Gough and Papac. Ricksen on his day was fantastic and Walter would get the best out of him. Hemdani the European specialist, Gio and Albertz not only quality but worth goals outside of the box. Lovenkrands for his deadly pace on the break and his ability in the big games.

Not the best Rangers team but one for the Nou Camp.
