In the last week they have unleashed their pets in the media with a mantra blaming Rangers for the lack of atmosphere. In fact that’s a total negation of the truth.
The Celtic Star website, the comedian Marc Jennings on Radio Scotland, Chris Sutton and Keith Jackson are amongst the usual suspects spouting their fibs, including the classic that Rangers were sick of Odsonne Édouard scoring.
In fact, the truth is a lot simpler than that. Celtic have worked hand in glove to enable the Green Brigade group and stoked the furnaces of hate which culminated with the displayed of bigotry and terrorism at Celtic Park which featured hanged effigies of Rangers fans and Orangemen. After that a line had to be drawn.
That’s the fact of the matter. They’ve made their bed and now they have to lie in it.
Their latest wheeze has been the doxing of police officers – this tactic involves photographing them and posting the pics on social media inviting the identification and abuse of officers.
Whilst both Police Scotland and the Police Federation are unwilling to confirm on or off the record I understand the reaction to this has been to threaten to withdraw policing from the effected area or to police it with officers clad in full riot control equipment.
I understand that the Safety Advisory Group have even discussed closing part or all of Celtic Park in a bid to make the club see sense.
Celtic say they want a return of touchline to touchline ticketing for the Broomloan Stand but say they would be unable to return that favour at Celtic Park due to technical difficulties. As ever, they want to have their cake and eat it.
