Rangers (4-2-3-1)

Jack Butland: A bystander for 45min – until he stood by as Goldson got brushed aside by Miovski and didn’t react quick enough to stop the equaliser. Steadied himself after the break and made fine save in 90th minute. 6

James Tavernier: Captain cajoled his team-mates to keep going as chances came and went in a tough start to second half. Had a night off from being the hero but will have enjoyed others being the ones who agonised Aberdeen on this occasion. 7

Connor Goldson: Out-thought and out-fought as Miovski brushed him aside to level just before the break. Like Butland, though, he recovered from blunder in second 45 to dominate Miovski. 6

John Souttar: Another assured showing by the quiet man in the middle of defence who keeps his mistakes to a minimum these days while upping his performance levels every time he takes to the pitch. 7

Ridvan Yilmaz: Seems to be thriving at Ibrox now and has settled into his left-back weekly swap with Barisic. 7

John Lundstram: Given deeper position in past two games so no Pirlo-esque assists. No problem at all. He plays like a Scouse Rodri in new role. Surely in running for POTY awards now. 8

Tom Lawrence: Came in for the rested Ryan Jack and struggled to find space between Aberdeen’s two blocks of four…. until he fired in the shot that was spilled for Cantwell’s winning goal. 6

Todd Cantwell: 50th Rangers appearance and one of his best. From first minute to the 85th when he left the field for Diomande, the box-office playmaker lit up Ibrox and capped it with the winning goal. Man of the match 9

Ross McCausland: Right-winger’s tenacity led to first goal. Always available for a pass and was a pest to the Dons defence all game. 7

Rabbi Matondo: Pounced to put his side 1-0 up in seven minutes but blew chance to make it two before being replaced by Cortes 10min into second half. 6 .

Cyriel Dessers: In for Fabio Silva from start then out for Fabio Silva soon after restart. Summed up his evening. 5

Substitutes:

Fabio Silva (Dessers 56): Sparked the onslaught on the Aberdeen backline which lifted the crowd and let to Canwell’s goal. Has what it takes to become a fans’ favourite. 6

Oscar Cortes (Matondo 56): Two sub appearances, two wins at Ibrox. Showed flashes of more to come. 5

Dujon Sterling (Lawrence 75): 13 min on as a sub, one bad tackle, one red card. 0

Mohammed Diomande (Cantwell 85): Raucous roars in 85min as he came on for Cantwell. Welcome to Ibrox. 4

Not used: McCrorie, S Wright, Barisic, King, Raskin.

Aberdeen (4-4-1-1) Roos, Devlin, Gartenmann, Jensen, MacKenzie, Shinnie, McGrath, Barron, Clarkson, Hayes, Miovski.

Substitutes: Doohan, Duk, Phillips, Sokler, Morris, Polvara, Duncan, MacDonald, Milne.
