On our recent trip to Vienna we caught up with Michael from the Vienna True Blues Rangers Supporters Club who are looking forward to meeting friends old and new at their HQ – the Red Lion.

You can make contact with the club by checking out their Facebook page and website where you can check out news and club merchandise –

“I am supporting of the Glasgow Rangers.”

Michael from the club told us what to expect in the city in terms of food, drink, language and attractions.

The Vienna True Blues have also been hosts to the Glaswegian Loyal who have run great buses in recent years to European venues for Bears travelling through Vienna.  They are looking forward next year to celebrating their 20th anniversary.

The Red Lion will be open the night before and on the day of the Rapid game – drop them a line to let them know you are coming.   Vienna True Blues members compose supporters of all Austrian clubs – Rapid, Austria Vienna and 1st Vienna FC.

Michael recommends the Schwedenplatz area for visiting Bears – lots of pubs and restaurants in that area of the city centre – famously known as the Bermuda Triangle.

Being a local, Michael was able to give us an insight into the ethos of Rapid Vienna.  He says Hans Krankl is their icon and like the club to play in his style.   They are proud of their history and also of the atmosphere their ultras create in the ground.

Lastly – Michael recommends that visitors try a combination of Weinerschnitzel, goulash and good Austrian beer!
