Dens Park pitch passes inspection - game on 8pm Wednesday

There clearly are sporting integrity issues of course G.

Why are we the only semi finalist with a midweek match before showcase semi finals ?

And would Hibs & particularly Motherwell have been able to afford larger player squads if they had chosen to ignore their responsibilities with respect to the drainage of their pitches ?

Spot on, G. We are being fecked over again. Let's see if the media go into meltdown media regarding sporting integrity.

That should have been the situation last week, given Dundee have secured top 6 status, they should have just left it until Dundee could host. No doubt the rest of the league will complain about sporting integrity again.
their pitch is shafted for the rest of the season, it will not take any water and floods when it rains

this will not get fixed with a couple of pitch forks and a blower, it needs completely dug up

Depending on the weather, we could go through all this again when we go there for the 3rd time, as could anyone else who is scheduled to play there

St Johnstone said no because they had a game on the pitch last weekend. Don't let it get in the road of the great conspiracy theory against us though.

They mentioned three alternative, so St J wasn't the only option.

Am not buying into any conspiracy theory - more concerned about amateur way the game is run here.

Reminds me of the day our BB match got moved from the ash pitches at Toryglen to pitch 7 in Queen's Park Recs - the ref gave us 45 minutes to get from Toryglen to the recs.

F.ucking imbeciles...

St Johnstone statement

Should Dens Park fail a pitch inspection tomorrow, we can confirm McDiarmid Park has been selected as the venue for Wednesday evening's Scottish Premiership fixture between Dundee and Rangers.

CEO Stan Harris said: "In conjunction with Dundee FC, Rangers FC and the SPFL we have agreed to a request to use McDiarmid Park should the rearranged game scheduled for Wednesday 17th April fail a pitch inspection.

"A pitch inspection will take place on the morning of Tuesday 16th April after which we will know if McDiarmid Park is required.

"St Johnstone have already put plans in place to host this game and will work with Dundee FC and Rangers FC to ensure a smooth transition from Dens Park ticketing to McDiarmid Park seating arrangements.

"Further details regarding this possible change of venue will be made by Dundee FC and Rangers FC."

Play it by hook or by crook then we can leave them to it with their shitty pitch.

The little appetite I had for this nonsense disappeared completely yesterday.

SPFL Statement:

SPFL:

"The SPFL has appointed an experienced pitch consultancy, which is regularly used by UEFA and other sporting bodies, to report back to the league with guidance on the condition of the pitch in advance of Wednesday’s match.

Dundee were also informed on Thursday that they must provide the pitch consultants, SPFL and Rangers with daily updates on the playing surface and weather forecast, and immediately report any concerns regarding Wednesday’s match being played at Dens Park.

It has further been agreed that the match official will carry out an inspection of the playing surface on the morning of Tuesday, April 16, after which, taking weather forecasts into account, a final decision will be taken on whether to play the game at Dens Park.

If the game cannot be played at Dens Park, the SPFL has confirmed that it will be moved to St Johnstone’s McDiarmid Park on Wednesday, April 17, with Dundee making arrangements for fans of both teams to attend. If the game requires to be moved to McDiarmid Park, it will still be categorised as a Dundee FC ‘home game’.

The SPFL is grateful for the assistance of St Johnstone and will make a further announcement tomorrow."

Forecast looks okay for next couple days although bit of rain on Wednesday - if the pitch can't cope with that then it's beyond fucked and will be off anytime there's a shower, let alone heavy rain.

Pitch inspection will pass tomorrow and game will go ahead at Dens, IMO.

It was only light rain which had it off last week. Its not been extreme weather like Dundee are claiming that's caused this, its just an extremely poor pitch/ drainage system.

There is no chance they should be risking that pitch again with rain forecast for the full day on Wednesday right up to kick off.

Sky is why the decision will be made tomorrow.
Their teams have to get set up.

In the EPL, it is plug and play for broadcasters.

In the SPFL, they have a load of work to do each time they go to one of the smaller grounds.

The turf needs to root and bed in.
If you did as you suggest the turf would just move when played on.
I remember the state of the San Siro in the 90s and they regularly resurfaced patches of it and relaid the turf practically every year. It was a disgrace but np surprise considering that 2 clubs using it week in week out it never got a chance to recover.

Be fun and games getting fans in and allocating stands seats etc. Amateurs and chancers running the game

If required, they might give Main Stand to Dundee fans and the one opposite to Rangers fans. Subject to having the necessary Dens Park ticket.

No real need to allocate seats unless Health and Safety give off.
