Fan zone in Warsaw

Changed days indeed when Rangers fans are needing “safe spaces” %^*& me.

Back in the 90s against Red Star the fans were advised to stay in the hotel due to the security threat. Whether they did or not was up to them, exact same as this here. You don’t need to go to the square, it’s just an option for fans. Don’t see the problem in it.

You would think this mob were the hardest bastards under the sun with some of the replies, fûck me when did our support become so soft.

There was a time we would relish an away day in Europe like this and no fûcks given.

Our European sway support thankfully will be more than able to handle this shower of fûckin gimps.

It’s a fan zone. No one HAS to go there but at least Rangers and Legia have provided a place for our fans to go and meet if they want.

Warsaw is huge. Go anywhere you like but at least the club have been pro active and got us a designated space.
Doesn’t really tie in with the Travel Club daytrip, though.
We are getting dropped in the old town during the day and bussed from there to the stadium arriving at 6.30pm.

Sorry mate I didn’t know that but even then an hour and a half at the fan zone isn’t hard.

I’d think once your dropped off you’re free to wander anywhere you’d like also but I’m not in authority to say.

The stadium is where our ticket collection will be as well so it makes sense to have the Bears who will be collecting tickets in Warsaw in one place.

Experience tells you to get in the stadium early ;) :)

I don’t see a problem either, it’s a great idea. Maybe the club could also make psychiatrists available to those fans “traumatized” by the loud banging noises from the flares and homophobic chants thrown by the Polish thugs.

They are going there to watch a game of football, you do know that?

Only on FF could we have people complaining about the club having a fan zone available before the game, people complaining that our away support aren’t all hardened lunatics that want to fight anything with a pulse and also those who are acting like we are going to an active war zone!

The reality is there is a space for our fans to congregate before the game to avoid any potential trouble or people being attacked when in small groups. If you want to use it, use it. If you don’t then don’t.

Vast majority of fans will be well behaved and not do anything mental or silly that will be held against the club or paint us in a bad light. We will be there for the football and to support our team, not roll about Warsaw with some steroid filled baldy idiot in a T-shirt that is too wee for him.

It is Warsaw on a Thursday night, not the battle of Bannockburn ffs. The game will be policed within an inch of its life and it will almost certainly pass off without incident

Never change FF, never change

The big benefit of a fan zone is knowing you can get a pint constantly for me, been on too many trips where something happens so bars are closed early and away fans held without a drink or stuck in ground early. Anyone who’s been abroad knows what it can be like both ways, sounds a great trip - did Berlin by flight and on to Warsaw 20 years with England, great memories - rough in Warsaw but such a laugh by train and in Berlin. Have a great do all going.

On you go and offer the Legia fans a square go then and see what happens.
You're back Biggles! Good show. Here's the deal: Hats off to Greg for arranging a gathering spot with the club for the fans but fk me! The amount of panty wetting threads on here about the "crazy Poles" is a bit of a red neck. If you are that fkin scared it is best you don't go. Those legia kants must have been reading the threads on here the past week and sharpening their handbags in anticipation of the upcoming slaughter. To quote @rangersno.1 "Absolutely embarrassing".

This 100%

Scandalous, no objections from Warsaw City to a fanzone, but if we ask Glasgow?

You would think they were about to enter a fûckin nightmare warzone the way some are going on it was same with spartak.

Absolutely embarrassing tbh.

Exactly been going to Poland for over 10 years been in some right dodgy areas as well. Drank with Polish hells angels and in Poznan hooligans pub by mistake with rangers top on guess what brilliant time. Never been to any other country and made so welcome pretty sure Warsaw police will be everywhere.

Open from 12 noon until the stadium opens, we are strongly advising supporters to use the designated area. We have been assured that supporters will be well catered for and safe in the Fanzone
--------------------

We know from reputation that fans can run into bother over there so we have sought assurances and have been told that this is the best option for our fans.

Its a big area that will be selling drink, food, playing music and have toilet facilities.

It is in the supporters doc that will go out but our fans must not use the sports bar at the stadium.
When you say “playing music” with there be cultural tunes?

Absolutely well done to Greg his job is a thankless task I’d imagine but always does his best and is a thoroughly decent guy to boot.

Use the fanzone if you want but for me the European experience is gather somewhere in the city have a good sing song bevy till your heart is content flags up laugh and jokes with fellow bears and show the people what we are all about.

Any chance that we can pick up the collect match tickets at the fanzine?

I remember us all unofficially congregating in a field across from the stadium in Prague all day before the game in bygone times

Food, drink, good weather, like minded supporters, secure, sounding good to me.
I will likely want to soak up the atmosphere in Warsaw early afternoon with a few beers then head over to the fan zone about 2 hours before kick off.
I wouldn't survive 8 hours of fanzone drinking and will leave that to the young team :))

Would be good to know which pubs there might be a few bears socialising in around the centre of Warsaw.
Initially the Sportsman's bar was suggested as it was a huge bar and could accommodate several hundred bears but was deemed to be very expensive.
The fanzone probably negates the need to gather there, so if any FF bears want to suggest a bar to meet up in and have a few beers to socialise and experience Warsaw then it would be great to know.

Gonna try & pace myself on Thursday.....

I get the impression that some people are gagging for trouble. It's all a bit sad.

You might be in a good position from tomorrow night to recommend a few bars. Like you I will be pacing myself Thursday but would be good to have the company of a few bears,
I don't arrive until mid-day Thursday so likely to be early afternoon before I start my session
