Your ideas for sub-forums and designs etc

You can turn them off in preferences.

Can't seem to find that. Only options I have are:

Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...
Use the rich text editor to create and edit messages
Use the Flash-based uploader to upload attachments
Show people's signatures with their messages
Show your online status
Show your current activity

ideally I would want to turn images off completely.

Hate to be the new forum killjoy but turn off the ability to upload images as well before discussion threads turn into a battle of the memes like twitter and facebook!

Test sorry..

A seperate Rangers related and non rangers related forum would be good. Theres times may want to avoid doom and gloom.

Travel forum be good due to high number of posts around wheres good/where to watch games etc.

Agree that tech questions should just be part of the lounge. On the old forum if you asked a tech type question in the lounge you'd tend to get a few good answers before the thread got moved to Techie and died.

I'd also remove the avatars from the thread title screen and only show them once the thread has been opened.

Like we're going to take a bit of fucking notice.

But, to be serious; we should have two or three big forums with sub-sections.

It's pretty easy to post or look in the right sub-forum.

Badly needs split, soon. Surely better to mirror old forum and develop from there than leave all in one forum? Patience and all that I know.

I think that Pulse Reources covers information extremely well. A historical section would peak my interest on FF as would a travel section but the Bear Pit would always be first point of call for news about Rangers from a fans perspective.

@mdingwall Is it worth starting up the 'official' threads within the bear pit now so they can just be moved or worth waiting til the Lounge is actually created?

Would like to see Night theme like below.

That's taken from the old FF pro board on the tapatalk app.

An Events Forum so can take over from the Follow Follow football forum and can include other FF events like golf, pool, darts and other
get togethers.

A community forum for the Rangers community which could be used for things such as news regarding the death or illness of a fellow bear, sponsored events, which pub is showing a Rangers game, spare tickets, 5 a side football / golf outings - anything of that kind.

The Bear Pit - for Rangers and football discussion
The Sports Lounge - for discussion of sports other than football
The Lounge - for general nonsense
The News Room - for serious discussion on politics and world news
The Ticket Office - for ticket sales
The Tech Lounge - for helping old people work computers and tech talk

I don't think I would split the forums into much more than that.

This is a pretty good line up

I liked the way the forum was laid out previously, as the old saying goes, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

looks really good.... plus also the suggestion above about a community forum, perhaps a buy & sell section, a hot-uk-deals type section for like minded fans, a health forum and maybe a grassroots football section

The Lounge
Tech
Rangers History (On this day etc. videos of goals and old games)
Media (links to conferences etc.)

A news room / politics sub-forum is a must as the board gets filled up with SNP threads every time they say or do something daft - which is frequently.

I like the political stuff but I'd imagine it's a pain in the arse for posters who don't.

I broadly like this as a starting template.

It wasn't broke in terms of layout, it was gubbed by ads and the general sluggishness.

Which Admin had no control over, and couldn't fix, because FootyMad owned the platform and had no interested in cutting their revenue.

So it was quite broken from a process perspective, but I get what you're saying - I quite like Vbulletin but it's mobile variant is quite poor compared to others. Great on desktop though.

Excellent, bud.
I like the break up of the old lounge forum.
(You forgot to include the secret lounge.)
Going by the last forum though, I think you should have at least a double figure IQ to access the News Room.

That looks a good set up to me. Think it needs sorted soon, first page is a mess due to mixture of topics and posters trying to bump their count up.

Agree with this. I hadn't even noticed the tech section for ages and asked a couple of questions and just assumed my threads had been deleted without realising they'd been moved, same with threads about video games, keep all this stuff in the lounge

When you have individual sections for each of these it's like your sub dividing the sub forums

I'm probably committing heresy here, but the forum options of that other Scottish football forum run by the St Mirren fan aren't bad. Could go:

Rangers Chat
Other football chat
Other sports chat

General nonsense
Movies and music
Politics

Not safe for work (password access)

Early days but the bearpit does tend to make the eyes bleed a bit at the moment :)

Sooner we get a proper system the better.
